Impressive trains there, even the empties. Trackwork going on. Not only did we see a machine going through, but rails have been dropped. The river was low. It looks as if there has been a forest fire.
The Thompson Tribute continues with an all quiet at the Bowling Alley. Very ironic that there is a CPKC coal train going east and west! The provincial government or the Lytton Band should clean up the burnt trees.
CP likes running them around 626 axles, CN runs theirs around 896 axles. Each train setup is 1-1-1, locomotives have 6 axles and each coal car is 4 axles.
That is 152 coal wagons and 219.5 coal wagons, respectively. Assuming each coal wagon is 13.7 m long, per Greenbrier “Dura-Max” page (I can not link it) and each locomotive is 22.3 m long (per Wikipedia page on GE Evolution Series) gives 2149 m and 3074 m, respectively.
