Me too - I'm British though (still in the UK) and I'm not sure we have anything like those dolls here! I've got grown sons so it was cars and stereotypical boys' toys when they were growing up!
This dollhouse is decorated better than my condo :-/ Loved this tutorial! Don’t have kids yet but this is awesome! I know I’ll definitely use this for my future kids. Gotta make a superhero/action figure one!
This is gorgeous but as a child, my greatest fun with my dollhouse was finding and creating the things in it myself. I would have been devastated to have this all done. Mine was not as fancy, not even close, but it brought so much joy to me when I had an idea and made it happen. My daughter was the same way. I think things like this take away opportunities for kids to create and come up with something they can be proud of. But this is fun... great tips and ideas!
This is amazing! I have 4 girls that are American Girl obsessed! Even my 12 year old, which I'm totally ok with, keep them young! I so wish we had space in our small house to do something like this, maybe someday!
My daughters have American Girl Dolls now my granddaughters too! Looking forward to sharing this video! Your super clever love the video great 👍 job! Super impressed♥️
Absolutely jaw dropping Kathryn! It looks magical with the lights on at night and those little girls are so blessed to have you build this wonder for them ! Enjoy how you create with such simplicity ❤️
My daughter is 4 and received her 1st American girl doll the well is wisher series for her bday. She is now hooked and asking for a doll house. I want to make this happen and your video has really helped me see that this is totally possible. I have always loved AG and wanted kit carson when I was 12 but we couldn’t afford it. I am going to vicariously live playing dolls with my daughter! Thank you.
OMGOSH, this doll house is amazing, I'm beeeeeep years old, and I'd loveeeeee to play with that dolls house. I have a two and a half year old granddaughter, so I'm sure she will be wanting something like this very soon. Looks like nana had better start collecting furniture. Thanks so very much for sharing this fantastic video, I can't wait to start this project. Xxxxxxx
Love this! When I was a kid I took my brother's model airplane materials and built my own little doll house ,and now I'm looking for doll house project ideas to do with my son. He doesn't like dolls but loves doll houses. Whenever he sees one, he can spend a lot of time rearranging things and looking at the different ways the rooms can work. I think he'd love putting together his own little house.
I love this!!! My daughter is 4 and she will love this!!! She already has a doll house and we are going to revamp her doll house!!! Dollar tree. Here. We. Go. Thank you!!!
Ohhhh love love love all of this I have a one-year-old granddaughter just found a nice doll house at Goodwill and going to use some of these ideas on a smaller version thanks for sharing
Great video!! I have two girls 5 and almost 4 and they're obsessed with American girl dolls and have most of those exact accessories, and I find them all over my house. I'm definitely making this the next project I do!! Thank you for the great idea!!
We did this exact thing in my daughter’s room years ago-same IKEA shelving! She and her friend spent countless hours playing and decorating-for about 6 months, until they both decided they were “too old” for American Girls 😕 We repurposed the shelves and that was that. I loved it. Of course I played with Barbies until I was in high school 🤪
How awesome...My daughter has hers still and is 27 and graduating with her DVM on May 29th...Seems like yesterday...Great video...My granddaughter is 6 perfect age!
I built an american girl dollhouse for my kids last summer (using wood I got for free!) And we are still in the process of decorating it. We did use contact paper as flooring and wallpaper, but you have so many clever ideas I would never have though of! I love the idea of using picture frames as windows, and the puck lights - genius!
Best video! ❤️ Made me so nostalgic! I had the Samantha doll and would've loved a house like this for her! Lucky girls! 💕 I made my husband watch this. We are definitely doing this in a couple years for our daughter! Thank you!
Wow! That dollhouse is amazing! Such a great job. The little girls are going to enjoy playing with it. Their Mom is blessed to have a creative friend like you. Thanks so much for sharing. Have a wonderfully blessed day. PS - Owen likes it too ❤.
You have evoked so many childhood memories with this doll house! At age 10 (40+ years ago), I built my own doll mansion using cardboard boxes and masking tape. I used bits and bibs from all over the house for wallpaper, light fixtures, etc and for interior design. I was so incredibly proud of my creation and boy did my creativity ever get a work out. I had that house in my bedroom until we moved when I was 17 even though it sat unused for so many years. I sure wish I had pics of it. Thank you for nudging this walk down memory lane, Katherine!
I raised two boys.....I never got around this doll because I was one of ten kids....but this is FANTASTIC!!! I think I could have as much fun playing as the children! I love it! It is so big and colorful!
Wow! I love this! I’m so keeping this in mind for when I have kids. This seems like the way to go for any type of doll house. The contact paper really makes it incredible!
I know the adults wanted to play with it. Because I want to 😉. Love this idea. Loved that you added the cute kids in making your video. God bless them. ❤
I'm a grandmother of 3 granddaughters, watching this video makes me want to go out make and surprise them. It gives me an idea for an awesome car, monstar jam car track too.... have 2 grandsons, plus one of my granddaughters would love it too. thanks. love it. more ideas need to get a jump on hanukkah n xmas too.
Love, love, love this!!!!! Someday I'm making one of these for my granddaughters!!! (I have 3 teenage sons right now, lol, and no one to share my doll passion with- yet!!)😊
Wow! Beautiful. My daughter and I went to the American Girl store in NYC, several years ago, and you're not kidding about the prices. We did buy two Girls for the two granddaughters and one outfit for each. I could not get over the different stations. There was one Girl at a grand piano, and another at a full salon. They were amazing and crazy expensive.
This is such a cool project! I’m obsessed with American Girl Dolls, and my room is totally taken over by dolls and doll stuff! I will probably use these ideas to create my dollhouse! I love your channel!
I love this! Recently picked up an old bookcase and didn’t know how to decorate it into a dollhouse for my AG dolls. This video gave me so much ideas. ❤
Omg Kathryn! This has got to be ur best creative work so far! I could totally see your excitement throughout this project! Such amazing ideas! Thanks for sharing!
OMG! you almost make it to 1 MILLION subscribers, I've been watching your channel since 2013 and cannot be more happy that you've gotten this far, you are such an inspiration, God bless you! And to my other fellow subscribers we need to share this channel !
When I was younger, I had an entire corner of my bedroom sectioned off with shelves for a doll room. I made a tv, iPads, books, binders, a balance beam, uneven bars, and even a sink and bathroom cabinet. I played with American girl dolls until I was 12 or 13 😂 Ps. Mini eraser phones from book fairs at school make perfect doll iPhones!
I absolutely love this video. I want to do this for Christmas for my daughter. Could you please share how you put the 2 units together and how you spaced out the shelves. Thx so much for sharing ❤️
Wow this was so creative! Great way to store all the accessories. I loved the Windows, the picture frames in the laundry room and how you used the mini organization drawers as dressers. I had been relieved my 6 year old hadn't shown an interest for American Girl dolls, like her big sister has, years ago (less coins😆). But now I'm hoping she might, so I can do this and play with it myself! Thank you for sharing. This was so fun to watch!
oh come on now. If this isn't the most adorable thing I've ever seen I don't know what is. What a wonderful job you guys did! I got all teary eyed when you talked about opening your first American Girl Doll. It brought back memories of when I opened my first one (Kirsten as well!) I will never forget that Christmas and I actually still have her to this day.
We live in Australia and have used the same Ikea shelf on the bottom floor of our dollhouse. I bought a second hand home made doll house and that sits on top for the next 2 floors. We have bought Our Generation Dolls and accessories from Kmart. Also anything we have found that is doll sized from different shops or second hand. I have managed to buy 3 American Girl Dolls second hand (hard to find for a good price here in Australia) and 10 Our Generation Dolls (new and second hand). As u can probably tell I love them as much as my daughter!😀
Wow. Just wow. This is so lovely. I don't even have children and would love to have this dollhouse to play with. Me and my friends are in our 30s and 40s and we'd have a good old time decorating the dollhouse!
Saving this to show my godson & his wife, who have a 2 year old & a newborn (both girls). I see American Girl in their futures, so this will come in handy. TFS!
YES!!!! More of this! My girls outgrew dolls, but my niece is into them! They can't afford AG stuff, but I've been DIYing lots of things! American Girls Ideas channel has so many great crafts as does My Froggy Stuff. I've been amazed how they can make things basically out of garbage! I've also been making doll clothes out of clothes that are stained or have holes and otherwise would have been thrown away.
Move over dolls, I’m moving in! This is adorable! I wish I had seen this when my daughter was still into playing with her American Girl dolls. She would have loved it!
The thing I absolutely LOVE about your channel is that you think SO out of the box and your ideas and tips are actually useful and beautiful! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I love this!!!! I have a daughter and she's my middle child and I feel like she always gets lost in the midst of all our craziness. I am going to try really hard and make this for her. thanks for posting
Wish this idea was out when my daughter was young and playing with American Girl...but I have a granddaughter (from my oldest son now) so I can start looking for pieces for her future doll house...tfs 👍💕😎
Yup! I LOVED playing with BARBIES when I was young! My grandfather (who was a carpenter by trade, God rest his soul) made my cousin and myself (among MANY other things!) dollhouses!! Complete with REAL vinyl flooring (for kitchen) and carpeting (for bedrooms and living room) and wooden staircases and drawers on the bottom for storage. My grandma helped and they thought of everything!! They both passed away last year and I miss them so much my heart hurts. I thank god for all they did for me and I will have those memories forever❤️❤️👨🏻🦳👵🏻
I have cold chills!!! This makes me feel so nostalgic my daughter would LOVE this and she's only 3!! Omgoodness Kathryn you have seriously outdone yourself! I'm definitely sharing this! Xoxo 💞💖❤❤❤
I didn’t know about American girl dolls as a kid- my thing was barbies! I had everything. Unfortunately I lost it all in our move. But I can’t wait to do this for my daughter one day!!
When I was a kid, our baby sisters kids had somethinng similar like this back in the 80's for their barbie dolls. This would be a great birthday or Christmas gift idea for any kid. As a child, I wanted a barbie house but my parents couldn't afford one. Something handmade like that would be more special than just going out and purchasing one that's made of plastic or is expensive.
This is absolutely wonderful!!! My daughter played with American Girl dolls when she was little. Definitely an idea I am going to keep in the back of my mind when I get granddaughters!!
I have no need for anything American Doll. Wasn't sure that I would even watch this video(although I love everything you do). Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Adorable!
