Hello Hoover boys... I hope you are able to read this comment as it’s such an old video but I only watched it just now. I have already reached out to some genealogical researchers and showed them a pic of that ring. I think it is possible to identify who it belonged to based on the writing (someone’s name) ? B McClane. I would be able to narrow down my search if you would provide a better transcription of the first initial in the name aswell as the location that you found it in. I do not know the age of this ring, so If you do this would also be helpful information. I hope we find this information for your friend ( forgiven me I do not know anyone’s names)to make the find that much more special.
First off, I got something to say to you Hover boys, I'm an old man living in a nursing home in North Charleston SC. Now what I got to say is to all of you. Thank You so much for making my days tolerable. Come on now you know that you thought I was gonna say something really stupid.😁 But really I used to have me a metal detector and watching u fellas ,who know what your doing and where to do it is just plain great. Wow when that young fella found that gold coin on the beach, well I felt it to. So to all of you. A really big Thanks.
Just when I think your videos can't get any better, you " bust" out a video like this. Unreal man. Never gets old watching someone dig up history of this caliber. Awesome!
Crazy hunt Kurt! Bobby's Gold Ring simply leaves you speechless! Beautiful in ever detail and well scripted! Congrats on your Capped and two sweet arrow heads! You guys had a great day and special thanks for sharing the experience!
I'm still going strong, 81st video! I am on a Hoover Boys binge!! Your videos are awesome, learning while having fun! I have become a lot more knowledgeable about coins and relics. Thank you!! So, I am going to continue my mission of watching ALL your videos because now I need to do this!! 😀
Over all I thinks this is by far the best video of yours I have watch. I have been detecting on and off for 50 yrs and what always draws me back on the hunt is finding a lost piece of history and being able to trace it's origin. This video proves the the skeptics that if you dig it all your will find treasure. Keep up the awesome videos guys we love them.
If u read this dude...u injected a full doze of spirit into me to dig all...i thought my rubbish are a lot...but yours are a lot more....thank you very much...
Kurt this is my favorite episode. I love that y'all show all the trash you dig every episode. It's a symbol of how patience pays off. And screw the haters! All holes matter.
High Quality video for High Quality finds ! O my God for this beautiful Oregon Gold ring ! Congrats to Bob ! This the more beautiful ring than i have watched in a metal detecting video ! All the best.
I haven't the words to properly tell you how great this video was!!! Congratulations everyone on another fine job. Dig everything, but not on an empty stomach...eat your lunch!

I enjoy all your videos. you guys are great. watching your videos is what got me back in the game. frustration of lack of permissions is what shelved me for about four years. but I couldn't stay away from it any longer! I appreciate all of you guys genuine love for saving history. keep those videos coming.
you guys are awesome and I am so envious of your finds. I'm 63 years old and have only been digging for 3 years. I wish I had started the hobby along time ago. I live in Southern Ontario Canada where anything 50 years is old LOL. If you're ever north of the border please look me up!
Your love for this hobby is contagious. I think I enjoy yoir finds as much as you do. Kurt- I'm a bit hurt that when you uploaded last week's video you already knew you'd been busted! Bob- that ring is absolutely amazing.
Wow. Awesome hunt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The gold ring is gorgeous, amazing, beautiful, awesome, incredible................... loving the arrowheads as well.
Simply amazing guys. Kurt I am so glad you got busted! I can't wait to find mine. Incredible serrated point too. Brad got just a beautiful SLQ, superb condition. And maybe the best find ever, Bob's gold ring is just out of this world. I have never seen a better one dug anywhere. Congratulations to all and especially Bob, for maybe the "find of a life time". Outstanding guys!

Hey Buddy!, the tip to your point was in the pic(3:23) in situe. it's about 2 inches below your point. Awesome hunt! Awesome video! I would sleep at that place.
Wow what a dig you guys had, that is an epic ring and all the coins just awesome. Hats off for all the trash you guys pick up. keep up the great videos.
What can I say... I AM OFFICIALLY WOWED !! Go back to the second shot of the first point w/tip missing. Isn’t that the tip laying at 5 0’clock. Sure 👀 s like it! The ring was art, and the caped bust...wowzer. I bet the beer was cold!
EPIC DIGS, GUYS!!! Unbelievable signet ring for Bob - such an amazing find! Love the heart attack reaction when you realized you just got BUSTED. Falsetto voice = BUCKET LISTER! Man, Kurt - your videos just keep getting better and better. Thanks for the shout-out too, brother! HH
That was beyond Fantastic Guys!. I kept seeing McClain on the ring!. Orregon Forever!. Pioneer trip possibly headed West! Great coinage also. From Kentucky, Great Hunt!
Awesome ring guys!!!!Love the coast to coast history connection. You might have found this already. "The Story Of Oregon" mentions that J.B. McLane departed for the Sacramento Valley, California gold, as a member Of the Col. William Chapman party, from Salem Oregon. Doesn't mention an exact date but the timing appears to be pring of 48. The party arrived in Southern Oregon at what sounds like the moment of discovery of the Oregon gold fields, and promptly disbanded as Chapman was bent on California gold. Looking forward to more of your sweet vids.Happy hunting.
John Burch McClain was born in Philadelphia in 1820, and crossed the plains on the Oregon Trail in 1844. He claimed 320 acres in what became Salem, Oregon. In 1848 he went to California, found enough gold to purchase what he needed to start the first Mill in Salem. He married Helen Cooper Judson in 1849. They had two sons and returned to Baltimore, MD for a short period. They had two daughters, (Anna Maria Isabella McClane and Eva Eoline Elmira McClane) both born in Baltimore and then they all returned to Salem Oregon where John lived the rest of his life. He died in 1892, just a few days from his 72nd birthday. JB McClane ultimately had 14 children, was a very successful businessman, became the first Postmaster of Salem, Served as Salem's Treasurer and as an Indian Agent. He was well known in Salem. It was so very exciting to see this piece of history on your RU-vid Channel. (I didn't see this episode until 5 years after it was first aired). I love your channel...watch it all the time, and I love Family History!
this is in my my top 10 hb hunts., bobs gold, kurts holed 1831 capped bust half dime.. awesome, in England legend has it , that a holed silver was touched by a king. small silvers and huge gold is what its all about
Great video man!! I would give my first born to find coins like that in Idaho. We have tons of Native American artifacts, but are very coin poor. Your comment, "it's not as easy as videos make it look" is very true!! If it repeats, dig it, dig it!! Keep the good stuff coming guys!
Absolutely unbelievable hunt. Bobby's ring is insane! Congrats on finding your Capped Bust... you told me last me last week you wanted one SO bad, well, there you go buddy. Beautiful! And I can't believe he condition of Brad's Standing Liberty... that one was definitely dropped on the way home from the mint! Can't wait to see what pops out next from that Field of Dreams. Keep em comin guys!
What a finds once again! Every week you guys keep getting so much amazing stuff.....its almost unbelievable. The video's are really fun to watch, keep them comming! :)
That's one of the best video's I've seen in a long time Kurt. You guys killed it for sure. I watch more arrowhead hunting vids than I do metal detecting vids and that serrated quartzie is a killer!
Thank you Todd! I know you love your points. Man was I shocked at that one. I can't believe the plow never killed it. It was dumb luck for me to spot it
Am i mistaking or is the point of the arrow (at 3:24) just waiting there (right bottom of the screen) to be found too?? Just wanted to say how much i enjoy watching the videos! started detecting two months ago and you guys were very inspiring! learned a lot by watching. Now i'm kinda hooked, living in Italy and on my first time out with the detector found a Roman coin on my own land. Few days later three incomplete bronze rings from between 1200 & 1400. Donated them to the archaeological museum of the village where i live. Thumbs up!
Outstanding finds! Your enthusiasm with the treasure you found was contagious and I was as excited as if I had been there in person with you! Eat your lunch!
Yep..Insane hunt boys!! Truley High Quality finds! Big congrats on the capped bust!! I want one soooo bad! You should do some research that ring. I bet it has an amazing story. I love this hobby!
another badass hunt! my wife got me one of ur t-shirts for my bday! I appreciate u guys hooking her up!! plus its nice to find other people that need fat guy 3x size
Hahaha! Thank you for the support Jim! Happy belated birthday! Yes. I hate it when I see a shirt I want and they only go up to 2x. Happens all the time. Best of luck
Whoa of a hunt!!! The gold ring is probably dated from 1850 - 1857....the heart of the gold rush. After the California gold rush gold was found in Oregon and a mad rush to Oregon was on so 1856 - 1861 for that period. A amazing ring with the detail...differently hand made.
Redneck Bob, my hats off to you on that EPIC GOLD RING. Finding the owner may prove impossible, but if you do, we want video! It was weird how they spelled Oregon on that ring though. Good job Kurt on your capped bust too!
WOW, WOW, WOW that was by far the best video I have ever seen. What a GREAT day. Congrats to all of you. I don't think that I could go to sleep until I dug that whole field. What a great day. In Tennessee, where I am from, the half dime that you found we call those a nickel, Lol. That ring was AWESOME. The whole hunt was great, Congrats guys, love it.
That ring will be hard to top. There is always a new plateau to reach for. Unfortunately one of my first great finds this year was a 1819 capped bust half. I will have it on video sometime soon, check it out, I was a mess. Like always great stuff!!
