Great catch. Most of the time we don't even notice that they use old footage so its interesting to have you point it out. I've done extra work so I like to watch the background extras and notice the same people used in different locations. Walking down a street in one direction then seeing them appear again going a different way. Dont know if that would be an interesting subject for you to explore but i find that humorous. Glad you're back and in better health. 👍

There was at least one instance of shared footage between Hogan's Heroes and a major motion picture. In "Where Eagles Dare" with Clint Eastwood, Richard Burton, and Mary Ure there was a scene of a trestle bridge being blown up during their getaway via the plow bus to the airfield. This same blown bridge was used in Hogan's Heroes (maybe more than once).

You're right; now that we have reruns and streaming, we're seeing much more than we did when these shows aired. Take this, as an example: @2:20 it's supposed to be winter, yet the trees are full of green leaves. As an aside, Nita Talbot is good in every role she plays.

In the late 60's I was a big fan of the cop show Adam 12. A show of the day to day life of a street cop. About twice a season the officers were sent to deal with a house with loud music, and as the officers parked and walked to the door the loud music could be heard. Years later with nightly reruns, these loud music episodes were much closer, and the music more memorable. Surprise, it was always the same music, with the officers walking to the door midway in the song with drums and guitar blaring. I guess in the shows collections of sounds "loud party music" was the one the editors always chose.

A couple of years ago I re-watched all of the HH episodes (since my teens). I noticed that there was a cycle of when "guest stars" (character actors) appeared on the show and it had to do with start of season, mid season and end of season. Please understand that I had, and still have, an all abiding love of this show. I still mourn that the show didn't get a "goodbye" episode (a 2 parter, no doubt) and that there isn't a faux Stalag 13 to visit. Perhaps, some money will drop out of the sky and I'll take a swing at it.

I'm not certain, but I think this building would be later used on another Desilu show, "Star Trek;" namely, the episode where the Enterprise crew have to battle neo-Nazis before they start a war with Zayon. At the very least, the building used as the Fuhrer's headquarters resembles the one used in "Hogan's Heroes."

This reminds me of the 'Batman' series in the 60s where whenever you see Batman and Robin arrive at the commissioner's office after been summoned you see the same people walking past as they rush to enter the building notably of 2 ladies dressed with handbags crossing over and turning to each other as they notice the cape crusaders. The programming of years past was so much better than the present. Though many comedies were just goofy stories, they reflected a much simpler time. Like LEAVE IT TO BEAVER! There is an even bigger blooper that most probably missed. In the episode with the Tiger tank, the tank used was not actually a Tiger. It was an American motorized artillery gun. It was either an M7 or M37. They were similar in appearance, and I never bothered to research the differences, so I couldn't tell you which without investing some research to distinguish between the two.

I probably saw the building reused in different episodes but didn’t pay attention because (1) the story and writing were coherent enough that the reuse didn’t call attention to itself; and (2) enough time passes between episodes that, again, the reuse doesn’t call attention to itself. Plus, as Rick pointed out in a possible in-universe explanation, the architectural plans, construction methods, and building materials were used over and over to reduce expenses. (The buildings look old enough that they probably predate the War.)

Pretty funny I’ve watched hogans heroes many times and never caught the reused building. I was watching an old movie The Time Machine and the next day watched an episode of tv show Combat. The Mayberry setting was also used a lot. By replacing the cars with older cars, hanging up a few Third Reich flags on a few buildings and dressing a few extras in German uniforms and you have Heidelberg. By replacing the signs with Italian signs, and adding a donkey and cart along with a few extras dressed like peasants and you have the Italian town nearby where CDR McHale and his crew were posted on the final season of “McHALE’S NAVY”. And that is probably just a tip of the iceberg.

I did notice that because I remember wondering if SS guards would be guarding General Burkhalter's H.Q. since he was a Luftwaffe General. But on the same subject Rick, I think your fans (including me!) would LOVE a video on how often that air drop scene was used on Hogan's Heroes! I can think of 3 occasions just off the top of my head and I'm sure there are more. I remember one time it's a box being thrown out of the plane but it's obviously a man, not a box.
