June 21, 2005 - Randy Johnson gets pummeled and very quickly the Yankees find themselves down 10-2. They would fight their way back with a huge 13-run 8th inning rally to win 20-11. Derek Jeter goes 5-for-6, Gary Sheffield slugs two 3-run homers and Bernie Williams collects 5 RBIs.

Sheffield was my favorite player from his dodgers days despite me growing up near Tampa. This game was almost certainly on TV but Sheffield left the braves where I used to watch every single game, I really didn't watch many games I would just follow him online and see what his numbers were. This is a damn game I wish I had seen haha. This was his last 30-plus home run season as well. He had 25 in 07 despite being plagued with a bad hand or wrist

2005 was a strange year for the Yankees. Started awfully, then turned it around by bringing up Robinson Cano and with the help of players like Aaron Small. They managed to win the Division on the next to last day of season by beating the Red Sox, who also made the playoffs, at Fenway. I think Randy Johnson pitched the clinching game. It was a great, emotional day. But there was one more game, and they mailed it in, losing 10-1 on the season's last day. Meanwhile, down in Texas, Buck Showalter's Rangers kind of mailed it in against the Angels, which gave the Angels home field against the Yankees in the ALDS. I remember the euphoria suddenly evaporating as at that time the Angels basically owned the Yankees, especially when they played in California.

Ironically also, the Rays did amazing against the Yankees in 2005, only losing one series against them (the final time they played each other in a series in 2005 in September) and the Rays won the season series against the Yankees in 2005 and also against many winning teams. Rays took 3-of-4 from the Yankees in this series in June, and had it not been for this crazy comeback 20 runs by the Yankees, Rays were gonna sweep them

I remember this game like it was yesterday! Lou Pinella was so pissed & disgusted w/ his bullpen, that he decided he wasn’t using anymore pitchers. He basically said to the last reliever, you’ll stay out here until it’s 40-11 if you don’t feel like getting anybody out. I’ve wasted enough arms to give up 20 runs.. Lmao

I don't know what to tell you, I didn't add any effects to the audio track. Maybe the microphones were adjusted by the MLB sound engineers during the game but it's almost impossible for them to add sound effects to a live game and have it be perfectly in sync with the broadcast, especially in 2005.

Randy in his career mostly pitched in indoor stadiums (Seattle Kingdome, Arizona roof, Astros roof, Expos roof). So now with the Yankees and in that division (except when in Tampa), he was facing teams in open weather and cold weather.
