@@JimmyDrumTech not really lol. I'm just saying how patheticly bad the Yankees offense is nowadays that even this red sox team would beat today's Yankees lineup
Not sure if anyone will actually see this comment since it's 2020 lol, but its insane that Teixiera literally hit a homer both lefty and righty stance in the same game
This game was incredibly special to me. I was 12 years old visiting my dad for the weekend in his basement apartment, we just set up a new flat screen TV and baseball was back for the season so we were excited to get to watching some baseball. We ordered pizza and next thing we know the Yankees are not doing so great. 9 run deficit didn't really phase us, My dad and I. We were excited to be watching baseball again, but I had so much faith in my Yankees. I remember right before I took a bite of my pizza I looked over at my dad and I told him "Nick Swisher's going to hit a grand slam over the big monster and it's going to bring us back" and I could not believe how right I was. I miss this squad, I miss those days, and I miss my dad. But baseball is forever.
Wonderful memory, I love "Baseball is forever" and I often feel that the Yankees are my best friend, especially after losing my absolute best friend and hero my father. We always had that great connection of conversating about the Yanks. When I watch the Yankees each evening I place a photograph of my father on the chair where he sat when visiting and watching Yankee games with me. In my heart he is there watching with me. Go Yanks!
Notice how the single fathers always live in shitty apartments not made for a family because family courts don’t care if the men can live. The mother is all they care about.
I remember this game. It was on TV on Fox at a birthday party I was at. I looked up at the game and saw that it was 9-0. I thought, ah this one's over. You win some and you lose some I guess. I checked the TV again in the top of the 9th and just wondered how in the world this was possible. They had come all the way back from one of the biggest deficits in MLB history. To this day, I regret not watching the middle of this game and keeping faith throughout. Thank you for bringing back an excellent memory.
I remember it too. Because of the 9-0 lead Fox had switched to the White Sox game where I believe Philip Humber was close to finishing a Perfect Game. That happened and when Fox switched back I heard Joe Buck say something to the change of momentum. Crazy.
Speaking about missing a game. I remember back to '86 Mets vs Braves. Started watching the game with my brother. Had plans to meet some friends and ended up closing our favorite watering hole. Got home 2:30am and coming up the alley way, heard the game and wondered why my brother was watching a replay? Game ended at 3:55 am. This was the year I introduced my older brother to baseball. He was a fan till his death and when I think about him, I remember the times he would bring up my missing a great game. This game is one of my reasons never to do away with extra inning games. ps. I still hate the DH rule. RIP MIKE.
Jared Messersmith Fox actually left this game for most of the country and went to Philip Humber’s perfect game, then returned when Teixeira’s home run to make it 9-8 was leaving the yard, that’s why joe buck says “it’s 9-8 here in Boston”
I was literally writing an essay about the Yankees while talking to a friend via AIM who was writing his essay on the Red Sox for the same class. The trash talking going from one side to the other **chef's kiss**
LiterallyReal it was at the same time it was one of Fox’s other games that day, they actually cut to the end of Humber’s game for most of the country before returning to Boston right as Teixiera’s 3-run home run was leaving the ballpark. That’s why joe buck says “a one run game in Boston” because most viewers had left the game when the Yankees were still chipping away and now were returning to a home run to make it 9-8
Banks especially a cocky overconfident sux. but in all fairness how could you not think this was in the bag. but like you said nothing sweeter than shutting those massholes up
Yup. And many more followed this one. I’ve been watching Yankee games with my pops and two brothers since I was a kid. Watching the amazing run they went on from ‘96-2003 was the best as a Yankee fan. Playoffs every season, 4 WS titles in 5 appearances, 3 in a row. And again in 2009 when A-rod carried the team into the playoffs on their way to #27. Good old days fr.
@@r0n718 I began watching the Yankees around 1994 when I was only 6 years old. My father had always been a Yankees fan and he got me into them. After I watched them win in 1996, my love for them grew stronger and stronger. Many of us were blessed to have watched them win in 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000. And boy what a time it was to be a Yankees fan in the late 90s. The current 2022 roster could be viewed as the best put Yankees team ever and rightfully so, but I’ll go to my grave thinking the 1998 juggernaut that won 114 games was by far the best Yankees team I’ve ever seen in my 34 years of life. I sure hope we win this year cuz that 2009 World Series sure looks like forever ago. We just need to make sure we get over the hump against the stupid Astros whom I hate with the passion…. More so than Boston. Go Yankees!
@@uhlovely7651 back at the waaaaalllll, pass iiiiiiiiiiisssss caught, touchdown no flags. He’s only good when he gets excited like the Minneapolis miracle
I meant you this that up what I'm saying to you this like if Dodgers beat Washington Nationals and New York Yankees be in Houston Texas it would be of a game-changer like Los Angeles Dodgers versus New York Yankees Yankees versus Los Angeles Dodgers and history will be repeat herself again the past and the future this is like a a game- UEC excited of History will be repeat herself and what a crazy that is you know to everyone Los Angeles vs. New York New York vs Los Angeles but however they always do have a chance of a to have a to play again because everyone going to get a stand a chance to get yourself or and even everyone will stand over to have over for them game play
YES!!....Teixeira and Swisher drove the first 12 runs in for them, solo shot, grandslam, 3-run shot,2-run double,2-run double. both of those 2-run doubles were almost home runs also.
I remember this game. I was in college taking exams, and they were hard shitty days. The boost this win gave me was much more than a lesson in coming back from behind.
Anyone coming here during the Yankees red hot start of the season, I’m thinking of of something. Some of the games we’ve had so far it feels “historic” some of these games we have. I hope that makes sense because watching the 2022 Yanks gives me a lot of confidence in them so far. I hope someday a game from this season will be posted on RU-vid, and looked upon like many years from now
Yankees did not give up tonight 9/20/2022 down 4-8 bottom of 9th needed no outs . Solo shot #60 ties Ruth Judge....... then get bases loaded still no outs and Stanton GS walkoff 9-8 ...Yankees win.
This was absolutely dramatic, enhanced by the Pink Floydesque theatrical music during the games most historical feat: fifteen unanswered run during the Yankees supreme surge and subjugating. The impossible comeback teaches us a useful lesson: When you are playing for your supper, life, and pride, one must pile on. Keep piling on. Take not thy foot from the gas, for there is enough time to exercise one's "gentleman's agreement" *after* the game; hence, starting the ball-in-motion of reconciliation with humanity.
@Lighthouse in the Storm It's odd you say that since they have close to the best attendance in the league and are one of the most valuable sports teams in the world
Professional sports and baseball just not the same today. You can see how fast things can change. I miss those days watching games with my pops! RIP Dad 8/8/2020……Go Yankees!!
Fox didn't air the start of the top of the seventh inning, including Swisher's grand slam, live because they switched to the end of Phil Humber's perfect game, which was airing regionally.
i remember this game cause one of my college friends, not a friend anymore was there with his girlfriend, now wife. he was bragging all week and during the game texting all of us saying im at the sox game and your not, blah blah blah. we all had enough of him and we all joked and said lets root for the yankees and see if they can comeback and beat them and sure enough they yankees came back to win it. he didn't text anyone or talk to anyone of us for like a month until graduation.
The best comeback I have ever watched, I kept telling my wife that it was still early and the Red Sox are scoring all their runs early and Yankees can only do damage in the later innings. Of course I didn't believe it but it was amazing to witness.
Derrick Vance he's really a piece of shit for running the Sox into the ground that year, but thank god john Farrell saved our asses with a World Series
Freddy Garcia was the worst pitcher Ive ever seen and Im not just basing it off this game. Just look at his delivery, same delivery they use at the HR Derby serving up meatballs.
Biggest Savage ..lol yeah, even now you can compare Tyler clippard to them. (even in the relief). was real good for awhile. but got real bad real fast. Tanaka needs his confidence back.
Swisher was so much more than his stats reflected. I realized how truly valuable he was to a team once he arrived on the Yanks. I'll take him on my team ANY day.
"Swisher, latest addition to the Yankees was brought up yesterday from the Marklesburg, Penn. Little League. League officials told the Marklesburg Weekly, "We always thought he was a little big for his age, but his talent was always there! We're very proud of him." "
you got to remember that Tex holds the all-time major league record for most games with a home run from both sides of the plate, with 14. dude was a BEAST
NO ONE had more pure fun with being a Yankee than Swisher. Dude was the happiest man in sports while there, AND, he got a ring. Meanwhile, Judge turned down 30 mil a year....and he STILL can't pull s fastball. It was easier to appreciate Swisher. Judge is losing dome respect amongst Yank fans with apparent greed.
Never forgot this game nor where I was,,Had to see this sharp Hitting again... All at their Peak.. Loved every second of it. Love My Yankees. here,, and now in 2019,, and Forever..
I remember watching this game, this was a fun team to watch with Tex, Robbie, Swish, and Grandy. One of the best rivalries in all of sports. Lets go Yankees, lets go!!! RE2PECT.
I watched this game with my dad as a teenager. He explained that when unselfish play, teamwork, passion, and determination all come together for a brief moment in time, this is what it looks like. He asked me, after swisher's HR when they showed Jeter's face, Swisher batting his chest like the king of the jungle and then watching Jeter run out a weak infield ball when they were already up 14-9, he says "You feel that kiddo? It's the greatest feeling in the world, doesnt happen very often, so enjoy it when it does and make your own magic in life." Its been 12 years since that day and I miss you Dad, we all do very much.
I was there! My sadness turned to joy as my Bronx Bombers came back to crush the sawx. It was even more enjoyable to see the Bosox fans shut their yaps and sink into a darkness 🤫. It was one of the best birthday presents I could ever have received. ⚾️🧢❤
I remember this was the year the Giants won the Super Bowl and I legitimately thought the Rangers had a chance at the Stanley Cup and Yankees had a chance with the WS.... good days of NY sports
Eric M. ...Happy to say that's over with. a positive was everything he learned as. manager, saying you learn things that need fixing during these times. they as a team will fix these things and soon.
The only game worse than this was game 6 of the 86 World Series. 5-3 with two outs in the bottom of the 10th and they lost 6-5. This game with the Yankees (for a Boston fan) most have been painful.
I have watched this numerous times, and decided that your choice of underlying music to set and build the dramatic tone for this video is simply spot-on.
It's a combination of songs from Michael R.T. and Mountains On Fire. You can find more at michaelrtmusic.bandcamp.com/ and mountainsonfire.bandcamp.com/music
Baseball Cinema- I agree with everyone commenting on the video. I didn't expect to see highlights of a game so well edited with an outstanding selection of music on RU-vid. Good job, I'm impressed!
Even as a Yankees fan, you still gotta tip your cap to the Red Sox for coming back in the '04 ALCS. As much as it pains me, that was a truly phenomenal accomplishment.
A baseball fan for 50 years, I recall watching this game and it was the first time I watched such a massive blowout, but when the Yanks rally began in the 6th, I just knew they would come all the way back to win.
As a Yankee fan, there is no other highlight or game that is more of what this Yankee organization is truly about. They are truly the best that ever was or ever will be!! To all you red sux fans, I want to thank you for letting us celebrate the 100 yr anniversary of Fenway with you on this day...it was an honor to kick your butts again but it was truly extra special on this day! Than you for the honor of helping you celebrate with you on this day!!
I remember being 13 watching this game in my grandparents living room. Grandfather was a diehard tiger fan while my dad and I were Yankee fans. God I remember cheering in that living room as Tex's 3 run blast cleared the wall. Never missed a Yankee red Sox game because there was almost always gonna be some thing special when they played
