Any quick thoughts on the ECOFLOW Delta solar generator with 1300wh, 1800 watt pure sine wave inverter for $799? Also AC charges in under 2 hours it seems. Looks like an incredible deal for 799
I just bought this for $799. And then got 2 Renogy solar panels for $189. Under $1,000 for a 1500 watt solar generator. I have it charging right now on the solar panels. The charger was inputting 216 watts, and the 2 x100 watt panels are putting in 190 watts. So even with just 2 panels, I should be able to keep it charged up while camping in our rv.
I think so. The back of that is very flat, with no edges protruding to prevent the exhaust from being severely restricted if it were put up against a wall.
It's designed like that so you don't plug anything in until the apocalypse, by which time it's too late to get a refund as it runs at about 70% efficiency at best and couldn't keep a convent buzzing overnight. ok, i jest, to an extent. the ac outputs are connected to the inverter, which is in the back. The dc parts are close together on the front etc. it's modular chinese parts like everything else.
Thanks for the info on the pouch cells. Wonder how they are configured, series and parallel etc. Will Prowse pointed out the 10A connector kind of forces you to use series panels to stay below the rating on the connector and get the voltage to make the 500 watts. I've watched his review, the LoLoHo review, and this review. You make your reviews kind of fun, which is great. There's a lot to this product. I hope for serious competition and solutions to some of the quirks. Price should come down.
The 12 cells are configured 4S3P. I could run a series-parallel of 4x100w panels to still stay under 10 amps, but Will is correct in that the limitation is the connector. Still, $1109 is a great deal on this.
@@HOBOTECH How is this EB150 1500Wh holding up in 2021? I`m a disabled musician looking at a refurbished one for the travel trailer I`ll be living in soon. Thanks.
I REALLY liked you cautioning people about Generators announcing you ave power. But even with the silence of a system like this, if the neighbors see just ONE light on ANY where, you've still painted a target on yourself.
Good point, and that's why you invest in blackout curtains. Yes, well I could dedicate an entire channel to prepping. I used to be pretty hard core about it when I lived in Los Angeles. I expected any moment for the place to sink under the ocean and gangs to take over.
The famous Dr. Hobotech..Man what an excellent idea for a sales pitch and a identity to go with it..Your manager is gonna make you a star..This looks to be the best out there for any emergency need, camping need, and anything ,anywhere power, that will power a number of things..Awesome review..
Great review on the bluetti! I'm glad you made the point of how much more value there is in a device like this compared to a single Battle Born battery. When my 5 year old lead acid batteries finally stop giving the power I will be getting an item like this to replace them. It's expensive but the value is there on this one!
I bought the EB150, about a week ago with two of their 120 watt panels connected it them in series and was able to pull 227 watts. I used this during a week beach camping trip. Awesome so glad. I bought it. One thing that sold me was pouch cells. Thanks Hobotech
At this point in time, discount coupon is now at $100.00. This product beats the newer Inergy solar generator in that it enables use of solar panels that we already have as opposed to being forced to use Inergy's propiatory and overpriced solar panels (which require nonstandard connectors that are not rated for outdoor use). That was the reason for not buying the newer Inergy solar generator model. With the discounts, the price is right. In a grid fown situation when the gasoline supply runs out, solar is the ideal means of powering electronic devices. However, I do feel that solar panels are highly visible and a target of some envious person(s) who want them. So I have been thinking of ways to keep them out of sight. It is a thorny problem.
The views on this doubled overnight from when I pulled this up before bed to leave up til today. Nice work man! I love the not-a-real-professor disclaimer and labcoat. I was hoping you would review this product.
I bought a bluetti 1500 and love it. Am setting up my solar panels in series with 2 renoghy 100 wattt panels. They work great but am wanting to keep the blue etti inside my house out of the sun and elements. Thus need to run an extension cord from the bluetti mc4 connectors to the renogy panels. Being a boomer , am trying to figure this out. What type of extension cord or connectors do i need to buy?
I do a lot of DIY stuff myself. I'm passionate about low power / high efficiency . I like to use as few resources as possible. Its not only environmentally responsible; I'M SAVING MONEY!!!!! A few weeks ago, my Pastor, from the Pulpit, told the Church he gave me a new Nickname- Doctor "HACK"Enstein, LOL!
Interesting device. This product space is starting to heat up. When the new developments make it out of R and D things could get exciting. If they had the outlets in the front it would be easier to block the vent fan. Wonder if the design decision was actually that deep. Thanks for posting. Safe travels.
Ah the innocent golden days of Sept 2019 just before Armageddon when cats & dogs started living together. And pd charged at a whopping 45 w. What a treat to watch the young eager beaver professor readying the thesis for his doctorate, flush with the hopeful rosy cheeks of cherubic naivety. And the later heartbreak and disillusionment leading to the bitter cynicism of the future reviews. How are your expensive battery features going to hold up in its 20 year lifespan? Plays 8 track tapes....in stereo! Televisual LCD interface...in monochrome! No wheels, because we could still lift things, and afford gas! In future every one lives in their RV running on cheap water-cracked electric.
Hobotech ~ I purchased 2 of these right after you posted this video 4 yrs ago. I have heard in the news that LG Lithium batteries in Kia and Hyundai cars are being replaced due to fires. Are the batteries in these solar generators the same? If it is a safety concern to use and have these in my house, then I will get rid of them. I trust your knowledge and hope you can advise me as to their safety or not. I will decide if I choose to continue to use. Thanks....I have been a subscriber for years.
well its still lookin like i might not get to have my nutri-bullet. i gotta go look it back up again but i think the new ones said 1200 watts, i have an older one that i dont know what the watts is. but as soon as i can find someting that can run my nutra-bullet thats the one ill get
@@maplesden6768 the goal Zero 1400 will run your bullet, but it's not as good value as this machine. I'm sort of in the same boat; I'm not purchasing one of these 'solar generators' until one of good value comes on the market at 1500watts. Though I must say this bluetti is tempting me to compromise lol The value is definitely here, but just wish it 1500watts - imo, 1500 watts is the sweet spot, you get most of your household kitchen appliances like blenders, kettles and toasters.
@@HOBOTECH Hi professor, can you pair two of those Bluetti's in series? also, could it be charged with a generator just like the EP500? I'd really appreciate a response ...thanks in advance, great video!
Awesome review! It is a great power station, but… The display screen sucks! Can barely see it. Score that one for the Ecoflow Delta series. Not a deal breaker to some, but for the price they could have come up with a nicely illuminated display screen.
This is exactly the type of product I need when pg&e did the power shutoff in my area. I wouldn't mind seeing how it would do in an emergency situation
Have you tried charging the Bluetti using a DC to AC inverter from your car's alternator? My solar generator has a car charging option. I can charge it quite fast with the car idling.
@@HOBOTECH I will look for it. Many thanks. My Bluetti EB150 should be delivered in the next few day. I really enjoy your channel. It makes me think outside the box.
Would you take $500 bucks. Tell em you lost it and maybe they send another one. That is a very cool box. Like magic power box. Love the white lab coat. Awesome 👏 😎👏😂👍
Professor HOBOTECH! Fancy! I hope that Heidi has recovered from her fire and you two are getting back on the road. Love the reviews. Keep them coming. Cheers!
meltdownman I’m just saying there’s no money to be made if Tesla applys their batteries, therefore they will not target those customers as there is not much of them.
14:03 Great point. You would think that if the engineers are smart enough to put something like this together, that they could include a buzzer to indicate when the charge goes down to a certain level. Maybe one company will incorporate such a feature, and than the others will follow suit.
That's 2.5 hours non-stop. You can extend that by turning the temperature up, or adding solar. With 500w solar coming in you can run >8 hours. I'll prove it in a future video.
Most people are outside of their camper during the day, it's at night when you need that AC to sleep. And your solar charge will only work during the day.
@@susanhighfield8284 Your points are true, but they aren't valid; the fact that the sun isn't out during the night is no fault of this product. You won't find a cheaper system that will even run your a/c for as long as this one.
Hi! Thank you for your honest reviews on the products you receive. I am looking at a 900 Watt hot plate for cooking while i am off grid. do you have any idea how long the bluetti would run something like this? Thank you so much!!
Thank you for this video! Right now, the Jackery 1000 with 2 of their panels is exactly the same price as the Bluetti with two panels - $1499. So I am getting the Bluetti...your wonderful reviews and insights are much appreciated, sir!
Tom, BRAVO!! Fantastic product knowledge video. That is a beast of a power bank. I really could use this in my home. Yes earthquake country. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Tom, Thanks for the review. This unit is the first one that really piqued my "consuming" interest. While the Jakcery seems to be a good value and the Yeti has the power going for it, this Bluetti puts power and value in one, very potent package. I'm thinking it might fit up in front of the passenger seat, where are you keeping it in your Roadtrek ? I guess, being lithium, it could also lay on its side if that made storage easier.
Hey Rich. I'm currently storing mine at the front of the fiberglass floor pan between the cat scratcher and the cab. It will fit in front of the passenger seat too but I have that area crammed with stuff already.
You really do a great job with product reviews, and your Professor Hobotech* (*not a REAL professor!) persona reminds me of a "mad scientist" character, especially with those dark glasses. Too funny! Thanks again for an informative AND entertaining review!
... SOLD !!.. i also saw Will P.s that video... so that helps that i was already leaning that way... but you iced the cake... Thanks, & oh yeah... your cat will get more uppity as time goes on... ( glad he's your cat ; )
If a full size house refrigerator runs just under 800 watts, does that mean the Bluetti can run a house refrigerator for 1500 / 800 = 1.87 hours? If the typical mini fridge uses 100 watts, the Bluetti can power it for up to 15 hours?
Refrigerators cycle. If it says 800w that is startup power, not constant power. Most modern energy star fridges consume about 200-400w while running and they only run maybe 20 minutes an hour. The only way to tell is to use a Kill-A-Watt to measure your fridge. At 400w running 33% of the time that's 132wh. Bluetti 1500wh/132wh *0.85 for the inverter = About 9.5 hours. Smaller dorm fridge uses a lot less.
I am curious if it makes sense to use this with a cheap solar panel to power my full size house Refrigerator 27/7. Is it worth it with my $120-$250 monthly power bill in Arizona? If so, what would the ROI be?
Good review Tom, glad to see that portable power packs are starting to get their act together, and I suspect largely influenced by the DIY Powerwall community which I'm active in! If I had one of these I'd hack the front panel and add a female XT60 connector for more charging compatibility.
Im going to be the bad guy today, "Solar Generator" i dont see a solar panel and doesn't a generator makes power so if this is like solar and a generator why do we need to charge it ? Its a battery bank , im seeing more expensive items taking our $$$$ wasn't it just a while ago a solar panel ans wet cell battery was ok,,, this is a option i guess but 1400.00 and 40 pounds not for me .
I hate calling it a "solar generator" but that's the marketing term and I have to use it if I want people to find my videos. It's $1109 with free shipping.
Thank you for such an in depth review it was very informative. I've been trying to compare different charging stations to what a patriot generator offers. As far as the negatives go....Really shouldn't run it or any of them below 20% if you want to preserve the batteries life expectancy so though the icon method isn't optimal it's not a huge problem.
You'll need to contact Jackery about that. Tell them, some goof was talking about it on RU-vid and then you'll find out I'm full of crap. I would buy one NOW, but we're YEARS away, since it would need to be a whole different type of chemical battery that would put even lithium to shame.
We're years away from having a $200. battery that will charge in 2 hours and lasts 2 days, but all the big names are humpin' to be first. You could string several buzz words and use your imagination. I like Nano Graphene Oragenic Quadratic battery. Sounds good, doesn't it? There's no such unit, but the NGO-Q battery might be the "next big thing".
Dude you are really good at what you do! Keep up the great work! Regardless of whatever income you make from this, you’re providing a really valuable resource.
Huh..I suspect your inline amp meter is a little wonky. I was trying to estimate power loss, as best I could tell about ~10%. But your inline reported less than the bluetti... You've found it...free power... JK
The inline always seems to show a few watts less no matter the power station. I'm going to swap the inline out for another one and see if it still does it.
Minute ~17 you mentioned that you get 80 V through connecting in series. Could you have just reconnected them in parallel and still keep all 4 panels in order to take advantage of the extra overall wattage yet not exceeding the 60 v max input? Thanks for the video!
Yes. I could do series-parallel but I didn't have the adapters at hand. This was just a demo. I typically charge the Bluetti from my main van solar system through the inverter using a 3rd party 500w power supply which takes advantage of all 600 watts of solar.
Really appreciate your comments on comparing it to the battle born! I own this bluetti and I have been using it for 1 month and it works great, but it does charge really slow on A/C outlet. I just installed solar panels and I am excited to see how much quicker I can charge it.
I bought 2 of these a cople years ago. In the summer, I use it to run my window 5000 btu ac. Works perfectly and I have two - 400 watt solar panels wired in series to charge it at 530 watts with my air conditioner pulling around 560 watts. It works great, it is simple and the price was right. I guess when my units eventually fail, it will be because of the batteries.
for EB150 is it important to follow the cycle - charge to 100% and full discharge? or charging to 100% after every little use (10%-20%) is normal mode and harmless for the battery?
I see someone has been watching Jared Polin - FroKnowsPhoto... lolol. I hate when these companies call these things "generators" when really they are essentially a battery in a box. They dont actually generate anything. By themselves, once they are dead, they're dead. Nice video, HT!
I hate using "solar generator" but it's a marketing term and if I don't use it no one will find my videos. It's like calling facial tissue "Kleenex". It's here to stay...
Your amazing, Tom! Really enjoy your channel and the tech education you provide. Thanks soo much. BTW, Will this new portable power charge my new Lectric eBike?? Thanks
So.. this is advertised as a solar generator..But the solar panels have to be bought separately. So as of Dec 27th of 2019. This "Power Bank" cost $1399. To turn it into a solar generator by buying solar panels ( depending how long of a charge time you want ) It will cost about $150 to $300 for a long solar charge. Double that for a better faster charge. When you buy them they are just Big Power Banks. Not a solar generator till you buy the solar cells.
We really like this, but it doesn’t play well with a/c electric blankets. We plugged one into it, and it wouldn’t work anymore. We got another blanket, and it worked in an ac outlet, and then plugged it into the EB-150, and it killed it! We had read that a modified sine wave inverter would kill electric blankets, but I thought the EB-150 has a pure sine wave. But it killed 2 electric blankets. We have a small 12 volt blanket that works fine off the Bluetti.
Yo Tom! You experience the screen going out on this or the EB240 yet? Read about that is some groups. Think it is based on the screen being in the sun, or the unit as a whole?
Well ours powere a small network anchor point for an island. After only 7 months use the PV input clearly burned out and the unit is dead. The distributors for Europe when it finally got back to them claimed it was water damage and that they couldn't do anything. I would avoid this company's products as they don't do customer service and some of the components (USB ports) aren;t of a high standard all 4 ports were showing corrosion in under 7 months inside a case inside a building due to the saline environment. We have bought USB B dustcaps for the remaining five units and are praying that none of these suffer the same fate.
Stop calling these battery packs GENERATORS. They're not generators, they're just storage. I know the marketing people are pushing this lie, but we need to push back.
I don't get the feeling this guy really understands the relationship between P=IV. It was cool to see one of these solar battery generators actually power up a Microwave.... A few terrible camera angles in what was an overall well made video. Now, I see why people complain about all the Amazon comments that I have. lol With that discount this actually doesn't seem so overpriced.
Funny, my cheepo Aeiusny 500W power supply has a loud beeping alarm and a flashing red LED when the charge gets below 13.5%. I still love the Bluetti or in my case the Blacketti. (-;
how many 100 watt solar panels can you hook up to this at once? are they all 20 volts? so you can only hook up 3? I didn't know what size solar panels you're using here.
