If I’m not mistaken, the IAE V2500 is actually a partial derivative of the RB211 family, taking many designs from that engine. Hence all the similarities, again this is stuff I’ve read and don’t actually know the factual details. But I thought it was neat!

Hello again, Mr. Max! This is Guerry again. Thank-you for sharing this takeoff, and I’m sorry to have missed commenting on your last video. Indeed, with only about 4,000 feet of runway, any commercial jet needs to firewall the throttles or everyone goes swimming. At least there were no obstacles to clear. But my goodness… With you hanging around in Rio, what are you doing with a video of a takeoff? You should be showing us a video of the Brazilian ladies on the beach. JUST KIDDING! The scratched window did not diminish the video quality as much to me as the overcast. I can imagine the scenery would have been totally awesome on a clear day. I am guessing that it might be illegal, but could you imagine being at the water’s edge of the runway with a sailboard, sailboat, or catamaran? That would be one rush of a ride to be propelled across the water by jet blasts. Given all the traveling you do, and especially when you fly on other airlines than United, have you ever compared your travel experience with the rating(s) “Skytrax” and “Seat Guru” have posted? I have been curious for a long time about those sites’ accuracy, since I no longer fly commercially frequently. Of course, if I took the time to give a rating on either site, it would be exceptionally skewed. Despite all the commercial flights I took for business years ago, I still have more time sitting in the webbed seats of an Air Force cargo craft than in any commercial aircraft. Although it was short, I still truly enjoyed your video. I am always looking forward for viewing your next post.

Indeed it is a very short runway in Santos Dumont airport downtown Rio. Amazing view: at the begining of the take-off, on the left, we can see the buildings of the Navy Academy.

Love the scenery at the beginning. That plane went up like a rocket. Said the blond 1st Officer to the Captain after an intense landing, "Wow, that was a short runway!" "But did you see how wide it was?" Captain replied. 😀

This airport is even shorter than that of London city. Could the A319 land there if they tried?
@Avantime

LCY has a steeper than usual approach gradient compared to SDU. AFAIK The A319 isn't certified, but the A318 is.

How did the A319 achieve this short take off?
@user-uy7po7ry7s

Using 95% engine thrust+ holding the brakes at the beginning

@@user-uy7po7ry7s I know, but the load must be very light to achieve that.

@@user-uy7po7ry7s Is it always 95% thrust + holding brakes at the start? I'd think that would increase the amount of runway it needs.

I dont think this is toga because toga takeoff has no buzz and thetrust is also moved once
@RicciWork
@RicciWork 2 года назад
Agreed. I noticed that TOGA takeoffs actually make less sound believe it or not. This is particularly noticeable on the IAE engines.
@LoganAviation
@LoganAviation 3 месяца назад
@@RicciWorkI've noticed that on the A321's. TOGA's on the A321 have no buzzsaw noise, and if they do, it's very faint. We did a TOGA takeoff out of Orange County on an A320 with Flaps 3, it was the perfect E pitched buzzsaw. I actually have the takeoff data sheet from that flight!
@RicciWork
@RicciWork 3 месяца назад
@@LoganAviationFrom videos I have seen on the A321 with IAE engines (most popular I believe) TOGA or other high trust setting indeed creates only a faint buzzsaw. You realise this when thrust reduction alt is reached and it's like the engine roars to life. I've been some Orange county takeoffs: good to see high powered quick takeoffs. PS - Ive noticed this high-trust-less-engine-noise scenario also on the A330, 340, 350 and 380 with the RR engines. Interestingly however, I find estimating thrust used difficult on the A320 with the NEO engines because they are so much quieter already. However, A32N engines seem to make a much more audible buzzsaw on high thrust setting. Search YT for examples.
