I am a multi-faceted, multi-racial, multi-cultural individual and my work makes me travel around the world.
In real life, I am quite a serious professional and, as part of my work, I study the ways in which human cultures affect human perception, human behaviour, human beliefs and human actions and reactions.
Many human conflicts, misunderstandings, tensions, rejections and failures are due to the fact that people are tethered to the culture in which they were born or in which they have lived.
If a given person were born on a different continent, their perspective on the world would be completed different. Silly, isn’t it?
My stance on life is that culture is only an artificial layer, like a piece of clothing or a bit of make-up. Strip it off, wipe it off, and there remains only a human being.
People are so attached to their own culture that they tend to reject the culture of others. And in terms of cultures, what is more symbolic of people’s attachment than food?
I have seen immigrants travel hundreds of kilometers every week just to go to that one tiny shop in that one big city where they can find ingredients for their staple food. I have seen people spend a sad time because what they were given to eat contained none of their staple foods. I have seen people travel all the way to the other side of the world, just to spend their time eating the same thing that they would at home.
Through my RU-vid channel, I advocate a lifestyle driven by an open mind, wherein cultural barriers are broken and people can communicate from human to human.
What better way to show an open mind than to try exotic dishes from around the world - food is one of the final frontiers of the human cultural staples.
It is only by realising that what you do not value is seen as very valuable to other people, and vice versa, that you can sieve through cultural shackles and that you can find what is common to all humans.
Hopefully, I can do it with humour and cheekiness, which will surprise people who know me professionally and who discover other facts of me here; after all, a life is too short to have just one.
My mission is to open your mind and to hopefully make you see the world through a different perspective.
