The weird thing about James Earl Jones retiring from the role of vader to me is that Scott Lawrence has been the voice of Darth Vader in video games for like twenty years. Lawrenvce has actually had more spoken dialogue as Vader than Jones ever has, so I dont understand why they even need to make an AI to do it when they already have a vetted, experienced VA thats been doing Vader for years. That said, Jones deserves his retirement.
They've also had Matt Sloan (Voice of Chad Vader in the youtube series "Chad Vader: Dayshift Manager") voice Darth Vader in "The Force Unleashed" and the newer "Battlefront" games.
It could be a few things. You can overlook them not sounding exactly the same in a game but with such an iconic voice I suspect they want to have the real deal so that it matches exactly with every other live action voice. While they do sound close there is a difference. Since James Earl Jones has always done it they may have considered bringing in a sound alike until the AI came along and it could produce something that was almost indistinguishable from the real thing. I don't think it ever occurred to them to not ask him back until he officially retired. While he declined credit originally, George did put his name in the special edition credits. Given how much reverence they have for George (especially someone like Dave Filoni) they probably insisted on using James because that's what George would've wanted. Maybe James had a contract that said only he could do the voice. It could be a combination of things. The Star Wars franchise has always pushed the limits of technology first with the fully CGI character being Jar Jar. I didn't say it was always the best idea. Filming the prequels on green screen. The originals required the creation of what is now one of the most highly regarded special effects companies with ILM. Plus The Volume as it's now known was conceived during the conception of The Mandalorian. So they did the same thing using cutting edge AI to create voices for actors who may not be able to do them anymore as well as making sure they could continue having that same level of quality should they decide to use those characters in the future. Given all that I honestly don't know. I'm just speculating.
God I love the internet. That people would go and find an older video just to say "Oh you were wrong!" I had something similar for saying maybe the other spider-man weren't coming back in No Way Home and then being wrong and people being like HA HA your wrong. To which I literally said... lol to them. Keep up the great content m8's!
I was literally just sieving through the channel and finished the time crapsule bonus content to come out and find a fresh crisp episode from two of my favourite boys👏🏾 🤓 i was thinking when they were gonna chime in on this news
I really liked the clip-edit dropping before the actual pod this time! I tend to rewatch/listen a couple times, and I think the visual jokes work better without seeing the verbal jokes coming first. Plus, I pay more attention the first time around. :) Thanks for the great work, team!
Here's the thing Mario does do all kinds of stuff. Tennis, baseball, driving, fighting, space, partying... He competed in the Olympics. He's a do it all guy. What I'm saying is that was a shit excuse to use as Mario for the wife or the princess as to why Mario would be playing Thunderbolt Ross. He's not branching out he's already a star. Love the show guys. Thanks.
The 5 o'clock bit is hilarious because I do something similar with a coworker. She always cracks open a soda when we're close to 5 o'clock, and since it sounds like she's cracking open a cold one I always say "It's 5 o'clock somewhere" and we both get a kick. It's now gotten to a point that if I don't hear it I say I can't leave the office because without hearing her open that can, I don't know it's almost 5 o'clock.
Of all the places I expected to hear about Vampire: The Masquerade, my favourite fuckin' podcast was not the first place I thought of. That made me so goddamn happy lmao. love u guys.
28:19 you guys forgot about the Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special, set to end phase 4 (for some reason) this Christmas! Seems like Marvel's forgotten too, James Gunn says its done but we haven't seen anything from it yet
Holy crap its just hit me! imagine Hugh, Ryan and Josh all in one film my god. I hope it's not hugh and deapool wasted opportunity needs to be wolverine, deadpool, cable, domino, shadowcat, etc
The first star wars film originally titled blue harvest, and the final prequel revenge of the sith are the best in the franchise. So that’s a pretty good example of a series starting good being bad ending good
I still feel like we're missing a golden opportunity of have a Three Men and a Baby reboot with all the Chris's in Hollywood. Imagine Pratt, Evans, and Hemsworth are the three men and the baby's daddy is Pine with the mother being Cristina Ricci lol
I feel like the very fact that Ross might be on the table for recasting means there are bigger things for that character in marvels future plans. Yeah sure the Thunderbolts movie could be that, but considering that Ross is the red hulk in the comics, I bet you marvel is looking at actors that could at least bridge the gap so that we see that transformation and then from there on it would just be red hulk permanently.
Today on Weekly Planet Jewels: James saying Dan Castellaneta's name wrong like 3 times despite his name and even his role as the genie having been mentioned correctly already previously by both dudes 🤣🤣🤣
Linda Hamilton is also presently alead in Resident Alien starring Alan Tudyk. It's a really good show, available on peacock if you want to check it out
I like other people laughing at the things I find funny. But they need to be in the moment. I have to convince someone to find a random weekly planet podcast one day and then binge a ton of the backlog so they can find the Mario as general Ross joke funny…..and then find James saying “this is a dumb show” the most hilarious part of all
I'm NGL. I'm so tired of Wolverine; he doesn't even (at least not in the films) represent anything the original X-Men was trying to say. They've done the same thing with the movies as they did with the comics, an overload of Wolverine. In pro-wrestling, fans turn on a wrestler who is "shoved down the fans' throats" this way. I feel very much the same about movie characters. It's one thing if a character has their own series, but when they have their own series of films AND they dominate or otherwise factor greatly in other films, it's too much for ME. I love ice cream, but I'd not eat it daily or I'd start to dislike it. I'd not start putting it as a side on a regular dish. Couldn't care less if I'm the only one who feels so, though. It's very akin to ignoring a wider universe of fascinating, charismatic character to focus on the same few people and a few extras for decades (i.e., Star Wars). Enough already!
I agree, for the MCU X-Men I'd like to see a Sunfire, I'd like to see a redemption for Cypher, I think they should add in a Chamber. Slim down the X-Men roster but bring in some mutants that we haven't seen in every single adaptation.
Speed 3, Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves’ characters are doing an interview on some cable news show for the anniversary of their Speed adventure and someone calls in and tells them there’s another bus rigged in a similar way but with two younger actors involved, Keanu and Sandra have to talk down the terrorist and advise the people on the bus at the same time while on cable news. Maybe the bus could be a tram or a subway instead, if you wanted to change things up.
The actress James mistook for Jamie Lee Curtis [1:14:04] was probably Alexandra Paul. She was in the Dragnet movie with Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks. Also Chris Tucker definitely isn't in Lethal Weapon.
Sorry I know I’m late but stargirl is very good and definitely worth watching imo. I think it’s about leveled with Superman and Lois and the first two seasons of the flash. It’s on season 3 rn but the seasons are pretty short so it’s not too hard to get caught up
1:32:45 Maso - "You have to choose. Is it called The Aliens or Aliens 2?" James - "DiFfErEnT fOrEiGn MaRkEtS cAlL iT dIfFeReNt ThInGs!" Yeah. But none of them called it that! LOL
Now we just need to wait until Hugh Jackman really *is* done with Wolverine, and then the boys can go back through all the comments and reply "this aged well huh?"
The absolute audacity of James at 48:00 to say she-hulk hasn't walked behind the set - in an episode talking about the wolverine comment not aging well. - and then 10 days later she does exactly that. I bet he's seething.
Not the biggest fan of Deadpool's humor, but would really like if it was treated as a true comic book story. Where characters die and comeback but you dont care because its just entertainment. As you were talking about multi-verse shenanigans, it would be VERY cool if he walked through an actual Marvel movie being filmed.
I feel like the Flash script was always to include Keaton, Justice League fell apart and Affleck left The Batman. They recast with Battin Bat and didn't like the backlash so they pushed for more Keaton across the board before the new execs walked in and said "wait... what do you mean you're loading a highly lucrative but failing big budget action franchise onto the back of a 70 year old man? Are you nuts?"
What always amused me about Gene Siskel was how even though he was reviewing movies well into the 90s, he still called movies "pictures" as if it was still the 1950s. Always thought that was interesting even tho I didn't like the way both him and Ebert reviewed movies.
Just a straight up 500 year old time jump 😂 the name is quite mouthy and jarring but I reckon it will slap, we have several years of good looking movies and I'm here for it
i would really enjoy it if deadpool just walked from a fox studio into a disney studio while shooting the opening scene of the movie. subtle quick and to the point, let's get on with the story
Me when I found out Hugh Jackman will be in Deadpool 3: “Wow! That movie is gonna be a real love-letter to Wolverine fans.” *Looks at Professor X getting his neck snapped in Multiverse Of Madness.* “Well, shit…”
They need to call it War Machine: Armor Wars if Cheadle/Rhodey is the lead. Would really be shafting the character if not and there's already precedent with Captain America: Civil War.
Speaking of the bruce Willis thing you guys should watch robin Wright at the congress.. its exactly what you're talking about seriously watch that movie
Two predictions for Deadpool and Wolverine, Best Friends Forever: 1: Wolverine's just going to be there, no overly complicated explanations of "It's a clone/timewarp/resurrection." 2: It'll be lampshaded whether the movie is in Fox or MCU continuity with a line along the lines of "I don't know! I don't care! Shut up and watch my movie!"
It will be a running gag, John krisinski as Reed Richard enters the movie and he gets killed in different ways by a marvel character in that movie untill ff comes out.
I am now changing my Three Men and a Baby reboot pitch to Three Men and a Terminator, where now Chris Pine is a terminator. Pratt, Evans, and Hemsworth are being sent back in time to protect Cristina Ricci and her daugher, Sarah Connor. If there's a little female actress out there with some variation of "Chris" in her name, please come in to audition for the role of little Sarah Conner lol
Incredibly disappointed that Final Space is being permanently shelved, that’s such a stupid move by the studio. It’s so underrated, I can’t understand why they would decide to erase it from existing. You already cancelled it, just leave it alone!
