When I was 5 yrs old, I watched "Wyatt Earp" (the original show, not re-runs), and asked Santa for an official Wyatt Earp sheriff's outfit: Black pants, black hat, shirt, paisley vest, and black string tie. I got the entire outfit, and a gun and holster! I was so happy!! I always like Hugh O'Brian, a very good actor, and a very nice person!!
Hugh O'Brien was a great actor and a great person!......a real man in all manner and form for us all to try to emulate! He will never be forgotten by this "cowboy".....TY
I am so glad to see so many people that still love Hugh O'Brien because I do too. his face I'll always remember him is when he played Wyatt Earp. very beautiful melody song you played for this viewing. a song I grew up on. thanks
Hugh O'Brian is my hero as Wyatt Earp. From the info I have on him, he was a wonderful, Christian man. I respect the fact he didn't do the Hollywood scene as so many actors do. I'll always love him. 😘
Good to read that Hugh claimed faith. He was one of my childhood western heroes and he was special because his folks owned a vacation type home near where I grew up. I had a short chat with him via his personal secretary (Rhonda Revercomb) back in ca. 2004 over "old times." Hugh wanted to have a telephone chat with me but he was so busy we never were able to connect. To cut to the chase, I've always wondered if he was religious. As everyone knows, he was a super talented man and did many great things...but due to his cussing and emphasis on people helping themselves I was sure he was an atheist. It's comforting to read that he had a direction toward Jesus Christ. Thanks for posting.
A great story from those days: He asked a platoon when it was forming if anyone thought they could take him. One recruit replied "I think I can, Sir!" Hugh replied "OK - You and I are going to run this platoon!".
Well, I see Hugh hanging with Maureen O'Hara, and not just in some public place, and she was a good Catholic woman all her life, even moreso towards the end. She knew the Lord very well. Search here under her name, and "How Green Was My Valley" and you'll see her last interview at the TCM festival in 2015. She was witness to His Truth.
Did he convert to Christianity? That's GREAT!! He learned to have a personal relationship with our Hravenly Father and Jesus Christ, Savior and Redeemer of the world!! You ate now resting in the Arms if God Mr. O'Brien!!
Well ok... The guy in the cowboy hat is Clayton Moore, better known as "The Lone Ranger" The Redhead next to him is Maureen O'Hara. Georgia Durante is next to her and Clayton wife is next to her.
