I think what makes this scene more heartbreaking is the lack of guilt on Hughie’s mom’s face. Hughie was telling her all the stuff that she didn’t do and how she abandoned him when he was only six, but she doesn’t look guilty in the slightest because she probably thinks that she’s done nothing wrong or she’s hiding something.
@@courtlinyeah, but it doesnt say whether the lawyer actually met his mother. Or if the lawyer is just going by whatever hughie has told him about his mother's intent?
Honestly I’m worried about Hughie’s parents, Homelander will probably try to kill them to get to Hughie. I doubt Homelander won’t try to hurt Hughie in some way after the eavesdropping.
Nah I doubt it. This seems to be an unrelated family storyline to develop Hughie in the background. Not every side story has to connect to the overarching narrative Plus let’s be real. Would any of us be all that sad if Homelander murdered this horrible lady?
His dad is already on his way out and his mother is entirely unlikeable, it would be a pretty cheap way to signal that Homelander is getting more serious without actually sacrificing anything of note.
My mother was a lot like this one. Always put up a facade of kindness and peacefulness and "good vibes," mostly to save her own feelings. But in reality she was entirely disconnected from other people and the shit she puts them through. Hughie was a lot stronger than I would be if I was in that situation.
It is such a curse for a child to have a MUCH stronger sense of self than either of their parents. As people get older so often they behave as if their practices or behavioral traits are what the standard ought to be. It could range anywhere from crippling apathy to complete selflessness and so often they lose their ability to adapt and understand more and more as time goes.
Oh god, tell me about it. I hold no grudge to the old, but their vision become blurred as they age and lose understanding of those who came before and after them.
Hughie risks his life to protect his dad and his dad edits his will giving his bum wife power of attorney. If I were Hughie I’d abandon both of them, let them have each other then.
Hahahaha I agree, why bring someone in who left and then apparently tried to reconnect over the years… With all that’s happening in this show adding his mum in was annoying. We’re better off not seeing her in this
That the thing Even if a Parent wants to fix or thinks they are tyring to mend things they have to live with the fact they pushed or hurt their kid or Made theme realize they were better off without theme to start with well the one good parent who was their knew they wanted what was best for the child
I can’t wait for the trap to be sprung. She works at vaught , has been talking to his dad for a year (meaning she probably knows about his situation), something is off about that hospital like he’s being watched every scene he’s there
Although it is somewhat disconcerting for Hughie's father and he ends up being killed by Homelander. But hughie knows that he won't make him and his mother... hurt them without feeling resentment or anger towards both of them.
2:40 The way it's editted with some shots of his mom sat on the chair next to the bed makes me think that these scenes will be used again but showing us how she is not really there and it's all in Hughie's mind
I actually liked Gwenyth Paltrow's approach to Hughie's mom. She's a deadbeat mom who runs a bogus new-age healing company that's, in reality, run by a shady corporation, just like the celebrity mom herself.
@@jacobwilliams3033 I was about to fucking say am I tripping or did she get complete facial reconstructive surgery. Looks nothing like Gwenyth Paltrow.
Probably wrong, but i don't trust Hughie's mother, especially because as she said it, works for Vought, and could be essily used by Homelander to screw up Hughie.
Man this is just like looking in a mirror holy shit. My mother loved to invalidate my feelings growing up. Telling me that I have no right to feel a certain way. Even though I was a goddamn child.
@@sbcs2809 Not Hughie, and neither was Starlight for that matter before they made her into another jaded "morally ambiguous" antihero. The whole point about them and why they worked is that they were beaten constantly by life, yet remained pure-hearted - both of them are meant to be moral core of The Boys.
@@publiusventidiusbassus1232 yeah no, she litteraly was gonna leave a guy in the middle of nowhere for his car and she ended up unaliving a man of 2 children because her and butchers poor communication skills, yes, not everyone is completely terrible but noone in the boys is good, except hughie
could be. however as many with mental issues who need to apologize (which she hasn't in show. and no that in video isn't one.) know. you do it and take what comes back. try and fix or not. but that's part of the process
Sweet Jesus, I know how Hughie feels. My mother became a version of what his mom is, a narcissist. For the last several years she put up a façade and a fake smile but she was no longer the woman my dad fell in love with and no longer the woman who raised me. She was so gentle and loving and we were so close; she was the kind of person you would gladly help create an empire or burn one down to the ground no questions asked. But now that woman is gone forever, and after all the pain she put my dad, and my family through I still have a bit of hatred for her. All of the things she said and all of the manipulation and wrongdoings and abuse she's done to me I don't care about but watching my dad go through it and see him feel so vulnerable and upset broke my heart. And knowing that the monster is still alive, out there in this world possibly hurting other families and people makes me want to take my vengeance to the extreme. Thankfully, my dad and so many other people raised me better than to use fists and teeth but instead to use our words and learn to let go and heal.
I will say despite this season's flaws (including this subplot), I do respect the fact they didn't make Hughie a coward that accepts her passive aggressive unforgiving cold soulless bullshit. "For now, on you don't talk to the doctor about me." "I'll take you to court." Shit I'm with some of the commentors here, I rather entrust A-Train, at least he has some excuse for his behaviour. To be fair, why his father agreed to give her any power over him or his son is mindboggling. They could explain more in part two of season four... We didn't need it, but credit where credit is due.
0:48 and 2:03 The audacity of this women! She has no right to tell Hughie what to do she lost the right to be his mom when she walked out on him and did she honestly think that he would not be mad at him after what she did to him!?
Surrogat mom? i think stormfront is homelanders mom, but she could be connectet in another way,i think she knows more and are more connected to vought than we know
@@ReodorF1 none of those ideas make sense, huey and homelander arent related, homelanders mother probably died when he was born, and storm front is definately not related to homelander.
As neglectful and uncaring as she might seem which is indeed very traumatizing, but at least she did not ask or demand anything in return from Hughie or force him to do anything he does not want to do and Hughie himself is a grown adult and he can be responsible for his own life like everybody else.
remember when the wife left. neighbor asked if I thought she'd come to her senses and come back. I responded "oh hell no...she ain't coming back cause I'm not letting her back." One of the best things that ever happened to me.
If JDM is in Butcher's head, could Hughie's mum be in his head? They were the only 2 who took TempV. Suddenly both getting 1 on 1 emotional scenes with new character's, with no other characters around?
But Hughie actually abandonded his father too to be part of the Boys if I don't remember bad Hughie even calls his father a loser or something like that before he leaves
Iirc he called him out for wanting to accept a settlement for Robin's death and doing nothing There's a difference between an adult son leaving when he disagrees with his father and a mother leaving her young son. It's not anywhere near the same level of abandonment Plus, I'm pretty sure Hughie apologized for that when he gained a new perspective and respect for his father taking care of him for so long, and put in work to mend the connection between them I don't remember all the details though, it's been a while
This is the worst part about this new season. I seriously thought something horrible happened to Hugh’s mom. She was a great mom and she suddenly disappeared? I seriously thought Hugh’s dad was hiding something from the Hugh cuz the truth was too traumatizing. But NO; Hugh’s mom is just this pathetic woman who resorted to oils and vitamins to fill her empty life. With all the violent gory superhuman chaos happening around Hugh, this is just insulting by comparison. Wait I JUST THOUGHT: what if that is not Hugh’s mom at all?! Some imposter. Dad’s in a coma and we all know what Victoria Newman is capable of, so he can’t confirm who she is. She may be a look alike and Hugh was too young to remember his mother right. Also, how hard would it be to forge legal documents saying Hugh’s dad wanted his ex wife to pull his plug?! 😳🤔
