It humanizes him, for sure. He saved Hugo's life and showed concern for him. The inspector isn't evil (like some shows would portray the antagonist) he is just doing his job and is aggravated his leg hindered him so much and that Hugo kept besting him. Then it really shows his humanity when he listens to Hugo and looks at his leg and the woman he has a crush on.
@@conorwellman8592 There's also the fact that he's an orphan himself. He could very well believe he's doing these kids a service. As in, an orphanage is certainly not the best place to grow up, but at least these children are guaranteed clothes, a meal, and a bed to sleep in.
@@magallanesagustin4952 I don't know his character was pretty deep. Any way you look at it it is miles more serious than Borat, Bruno, Ricky Bobby, or most all his other movies.
He's rarely a serious actor, but when he is, he's amazing. Unfortunately a lot of comedic actors limit themselves to one thing and never get to show their talent anywhere else. I once saw Adam Sandler play a grieving father who'd lost his family in 9/11, and it was incredible compared to his typical comedy shtick. Same with Kathy Bates - she can be very funny, but her serious roles are where she's at her best.
I was crying right along with him during this part of the movie. That's how good of an actor Asa is. He makes you become emotionally invested in the characters he plays.
One of the most cleanest movies with out cussing with brilliance and love in a definition why EACH of us is special in our way. LOVE CONCURS ALL. WE all either have our own understanding of death or someone else's understanding. I wil honor. and not l forget the dialogue of purpose and we all have a purpose in life. It made me think about the matrix for a second. HATS OFF TO EVERYONE THAT MADE THIS MOVIE. WHAT A CAPTIVE THINK TANK AND FOR THE HUGO ..... YOUR BRILLIANCE YOU BRING TO LIFE IN THIS MOVIE IS CAPTIVATING. THANK YOU 😅
Forgive me but I can't help my Film Analysis brain 🧠: FIRSTLY, I love Asa Butterfield performance in this scene. The way he cries and pleas to be listened somehow manages to not sound too whiny like other child actor's crying scene. It manages to pull my heart strings every time. SECONDLY, around 2:05, I use to think Hugo was looking down at his Automaton. After watching it a few times however, I noticed that he was actually looking at the Station inspectors leg, followed by his statement "You should understand." Hugo is basically saying, "hey, you know what's it's like to feel broken." THIRD, two colors stand out in the entire films' cinemaphotography: Blue and Orange lighting. Blue is mainly present when Hugo is alone, while orange is present when he's with someone (mainly Isabelle). While there is no Blue lighting here, it's no coincidence that the station inspectors outfit is BLUE despite being green in the book. In a way, the station inspector is a mirror of what Hugo will become if he isn't let go. However, once George and Isabelle arrive, there is Orange lighting behind them. They represent HOME. FINALLY, When Hugo says "I'm sorry, he's broken," This is a double entendre where he's basically talking about himself as well. George's response, "No he's not, he worked perfectly," could very well mean "you're not, Hugo, you work perfectly."
1:01 Officer: 'saving Hugo' Move back! What were you thinking?! You are injured? Me: good thing maybe he would stop haunt Hugo Hugo: 'shakes head' Officer: Come on! Me: bruh seriously?!
No Sasha Baron Cohen was amazing in this movie I love the scene maxamillion does like the cut of your jib little man Cohen he was funny but a trouble soul from the war with this see you see and if you got Netflix the real-life stroy of Eli Cohen one of missed greatest agents I love him In the spy and hug because it showed he just can play Ali g Bruno or the comidian roles he's play but he can do other out standing performance s but amazing scene d 👍
Because Hugo was living in the train station. It was the inspector’s job to turn in orphans to the orphanage. The inspector finally caught him just as Hugo was trying to give Monsieur Méliés the machine, and Hugo escapes. This scene is right after Hugo escapes
