Good comparison. Touch is not really a selling point for me so I’d have to say the Huion looks much more appealing with it’s laminated/textured screen and better pen feel. Looking forward to your review of the Huion 24 inch 4k model as well.
I have both devices. As a math teacher, the XP Pen's touch feature is a huge plus. I need it to be able to move my virtual whiteboard or pages of my screen much faster than using a touchpad. The eraser at the back is also very handy.
Hey I am teaching at a college. I teach cnc set up and machining and programming. also teach cam (using Master Cam) I am looking for something to project drawings (PDF ) so i can draw and make notes on them. I also use powerpoint and want to be able write on top for students to see on a projector Which one do you suggest THANKS
I find that using touch with 3D Coat makes a huge difference. Well, for me personally anyway. Being able to rotate quickly around an object that I'm sculpting/painting makes the process so much more enjoyable. I find myself quite frequently wishing Blender had touch input. Hopefully, Blender devs will add that functionality or someone will make an add-on someday soon.
Yeah second that. I just sold my cintiq 16 Pro and the touch was great and I used it all the looking at getting the huion 4k 22 inch, but I really want touch.
Great review man! Because I've drawn on iPad / Samsung Note before, not having touch is a huge loss for me. Since traditionally I turn my sketchbook a lot, and being able to pinch to zoom in, out, rotate makes drawing feel like a very organic and seamless experience. I'm able to work so much faster, without the need for shortcuts, buttons, no need to touch a mouse or hotkeys... But the matte screen / textured glass of the Huion and better line accuracy (no wobble) might make me sacrifice the touch. It looks much more premium to draw on. Less fingerprints, and annoying glare. Another option is Wacom Cintiq Pro 13. Very small display ... But similar budget price, and touch.
Great review! I recently (last October) switched from a Wacom slate tablet to an XP-Pen Artist Pro 22. I am starting out in animation and love it. I only have a few things I would change about it, but they are minor. Curious if you have, or will review this model and it's Huion counterpart? Thanks again for the great review! Cheers! P.S. I thought it was funny that a commercial for XP-Pen played immediately afterward.😅
XP-Pen Pros: - Touch display (only really useful on Windows and Android) - Brighter display (needs second USB-C connection to drive past 50% though) - USB-C connections at top of display, reducing the chance of damage when held! - Pen has eraser Cons: - gloss display! - Single set button on pen - Pen sensitivity issues! Huion Pros: - Textured glass display! - Better pen sensitivity! - Second set button on pen! Cons: - No eraser on pen - No touch display (not an issue at all if you're a Mac user) Notes: - Exclamation points indicate a major point. - Other pros/cons concerning accessories are omitted, as these are fixable/changeable after purchase, where as issues with the product itself will be there for the life of the product. One might opt for the XP-Pen if touch is a seriously important to their workflow, otherwise, the Huion seems like the generally superior product.
Thanks great review. Still in the dark though after visiting Amazon reviews section.. Some really bad ones for both of these. But also for the Cintiq 16 so really have no idea which one of the 3 is the way to go
@@elio3990 Time has passed :) Back then I ended up getting the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 directly from their website and everything was smooth. The device itself is incredible pen feels amazing, the size just right and its super thin very happy with it
The pen on XP-PEN looks similar to the one for Parblo Coast16 so XP-PEN might using Hanvon digitizer as same as Coast16 too, from my experience it has the best pen/cursor alignment among "Cintiq alternative" brands but that pen's tip is very sensitive to dust and my pen start to had a problem with the pressure sensitivity at the very light activation force so I was not able to draw comfortably with my prefer pressure amount after few months then I sold my Coast16 for that reason... This pen is a bad choice....
Is there a better alternative out there now in 2022? Huion with touch? XP pen with matte screen? I like the textured controlled feeling on a matte surface but also like being able to quickly rotate the canvas/ zoom directly on the screen without reaching for the keyboard
Windows support for touchscreen isn't great. With other touchscreen devices, my drawing hand has the tendency to swipe out the panels from the bottom right side. And there doesn't seem to be a way to turn off that feature on Windows.
@@teohontech7141 HI there, thankyou for the review!! You suggested huion works well with photoshop but not so with Mac OS? The draw for me me is the touch on Xpen but theres no mention of Photoshop functionality with Xpen and how do they compare with PS? Is touch fully functional with windows based ps? many thanks
Please tell me the Huion screen protector, is that something you need to buy separately, if so is their a link for it or a recommended one? Thanks in advance!
How does xp pen 16 pro tp meassure against 16 pro gen 2? Right off the bat Ive noticed TP has touch function and 4k but 8000 levels of pressure 16 has 2.5 k and 1600 levels of presure But wich of them are better to draw on when it comes to latency and wiggle? I didnt even know the tp 16 existed until right now. That touch and 4k screen sure draws me in but its an older model so idk if its worse?
@@teohontech7141 Ah I see, btw if you like to announce it on the channel both xp pen and huion has some sale right now In eu store in xp pen its a valtines day dale starting today. And on one of thr huion sites was a chinese new year sale. I tought you might wanna tell your followers or something :) I also found a coupon for xp pen its amazin like the only time ever an online coupon ever worked for me but I still short dome money so I hsve to wait and save a bit thenI think Ill go with the xp pen 16 pro one.
Huion should have put the USB-C port at the top so the wire isn’t getting in the way of the mouse, but! Should be fine if you replace the USB-C cable with an L shaped USB-C cable.
I own the XP-Pen... Seeing the drawing performane makes me kinda eagerly for the Huion. But I can't draw as good as you, so anyway.. I use it for sculpting and texturing mainly and it's fucking brilliant! Coming from a deco pro m whithout a screen it's a huuuge upgrade! And also the pen feels much nicer than with the deco pro m. The sensitivity and especially the initial force improved by magnitudes! Low value comment since I can't really compare. But i really like the xppen!
@@teohontech7141 It's been 2 years since this video, but do you know if they fixed the ph2 pen issues with the lines ending and pressure from big to small lines? Thanks.
In the video he says that the Huion has a more paper like feel because of the matte surface. The Huion also had smoother line tapers and it was easier to adjust line pressure.
The colour accuracy is better. I hope it's now brighter although the previous model's max brightness of 198 nits is not bad but could be better. Hopefully the drawing performance is better. Their pens' title sensitivity usually do not work when less than 1-inch away from the edge.
Just wondering, on these displays how much actual drawing space do you have in a program like photoshop or krita when you substract the ui? A4 ish or a5 ish or something in between?
Hello Teoh! can you do the review of Mipad 5 pro?? how csp, medibang, and ibis paint work on that device. especially the pencil test latency. thank youuu🙏🏻
I was looking for 4k 16 inch pen display, but why all of them doesn’t have a express keys 🥺 I currently have XP pen artist 16 2nd gen, and their express keys is so good to used as navigation as to flip canvas, rotate, zoom, hand, undo and redo. As it doesn’t have touch feature. The xp pen might be good for navigating, as it have touch, but I think the lines on huion is prettier 🥺
Update: You have to set it up as your main screen and switch the working display on your huion app. I still never found a button to toggle for it, but at least i can do it manually.
I feel like there is some sort of different metric at play. My XP-Pen 13.3 Pro was supposed to be some akwardly low NITs count but it's so bright I can use it some daylight settings.
I have no idea why (or explain to people on this channel) you couldn’t just simply hold ‘z’ to scrub zoom and ‘r’ to rotate the canvas- I understand everyone has different ways of working, but using these shortcuts are a by far better workflow solution than the finicky touch. The problem with this review is that you’re trying to promote that not having touch functionality on a tablet makes the user experience “difficult”? Touch is only useful if the damn thing isn’t sluggish and has proper palm rejection such as the ipad.
No one. XP-pen is a poor and uncomfortable cheapest material (screen material ). Kamvas Pro has problems too: position of cursor 3-5 px left from stylus ( I'm left-handed, so 3-5px position was added the 2px more) color problem with rendering picture on screen (sRGB picture on my Mac not the same as in Huion), poor pixelization (I saw pixels on screen). I bought: a Kamvas 16 Plus, and after 4 months, I sold it because I can't normally work on it (uncomfortable work, was constantly tired), then I bought a Kamvas PRO 24, and the situation will not changed. Today work only on Wacom Cintiq 24.
