Excellent review. It’s indeed impressive and all of your suggestions to Huion are on point: reduce the weight, add another usb-c connection, make space for SD cards… I’d add an OLED display and at least 500 nits of brightness. I’ve been thinking about the price, considering it’s a full laptop operating system and one of its kind, but it’s still too much due to all those things we mentioned. Had it been slimmer, with a better display, then maybe, but if Huion wanted to disrupt te tablet industry, it should’ve reduced that price significantly. My two cents.

The thing about a competitive market is that if you stand out too much, richer players can hit you hard. You can't dump sale too much if your quality is on par with the other player. Huion prices were low because they were inferior in some ways, but now that they have top-tier pen quality, they can't keep it low. The Kamvas Studio series has surpassed both the Surface tablet and the iPad Pro in terms of performance. Huion cannot afford to take the risk of being targeted by so many giant enemies on the market. Competitive is only beneficial to customers when all players can play fairly.

Really appreciate your support. I'm still using it and I really enjoy using it. You may want to test the finger gesture support with 2, 3, 4 finger shortcuts (with Concepts app) and turn off Window's own 3-4 finger shortcuts. If that doesn't work, contact Huion for a firmware update to the driver. Other than that, no other main issues. I realised I kinda like using this tablet vertically when web browsing or writing.

@NoOriginalContentOfficial

@@cornonthecob9294 I gave the studio 16 as a gift to my sister when she graduated art school. She seems to like it, already making commissions. The only problems are the battery died in less than a year but is usable when plugged in, luckily warranty is valid and is getting fixed, and the speakers are poor. Main things she likes is the felt pen tip and the portability of a computer tablet. Only thing I have against it is they changed the keypad gift with some plastic figure so that’s an extra expense. So far would recommend the studio 16 hope they get a new model with improvements though.

Update on the touch not working with external monitor: The fix is to go into Control Panel - Tablet PC Settings - Setup - Touch Input, then touch the touchscreen to let Windows know that the tablet is the touchscreen and not the external display.

Thanks for the in depth review on this. I feel like the Samsung Book pro 3 360 pretty much outclasses this device in most respects for a windows device, but since this is just a first try by Huion, and they've really shown that they have been trying hard to be competitive in this space over the years, it gives me hope for future iterations. The only thing you didn't touch on in this review that I am curious about is how the pen accuracy is near the edges of the screen. I have the Kamvas pro 13 2.5k version and I love everything about it except for how bad the pen accuracy is when I am not near the center. It makes using menu's and picking tools along the edge of the screen very annoying when the cursor is nowhere near the tip of the pen.

For the very old Huion products that I have reviewed, there is a long list of pros and cons. Over the years, I noticed the list of cons become shorter. Nowadays it’s difficult to pick up downsides to mention. And that is good of course. For reviewers like me, it saves a lot of time due to lack of troubleshooting.

The price really took me off guard, I figured they'd make it much more expensive but still $1,700 is a bit much for this. You can get a Lenovo Yoga 16in for $1,100 and that's been on sale for $900 & is a 2-in-1 so it's got the kb+more ports and can be a tablet. Pen support is pretty good with Lenovo as well, so I just don't see the justification to grab this over a 2-in-1. I love Huion's stuff, I've been using their Kamvas 22 Plus and it's great but- $1700 is way, way too high. Then again this seems to be more priced in the tablet market and they're all kinds of pricey. I really wanted something like this from Huion but I just can't justify this kind of cost. Especially given the way it's built there's no way to service this and I've seen some tablets self destruct with the battery buckling the frame and screen.

Thanks for the review, it seems like a very interesting device, but it's 2023, not 2020. Bezels are gone, a real16" is the new screen size and battery life of the 2022/23 cpu's have improved so much. I wouldn't have an issue with the thick bezels, outdated hardware, old 15.6" screen size and lack of ports if the price was accordingly. That's where this whole deal falls apart and I really don't see why Huion did overprice this unit so much. When they announced this at first I got really excited, knowing how competitive Huion usually is. I figured with the hardware they are using, which is nothing special, but rather outdated, the price would be around $1300 in the US and around €1400 here in Europe. Yes, we pay more in the EU, but not 44% more as Huion wants us to believe, that is, as you stated, insane, absolutely absurd. While I love Huion products and have been using them for years, this device is a huge let down for me. If this was priced around €1400, I would actually buy it, even though that would still be too much for it, since comparable hardware costs less, but I would live with that. As someone else said, buying something like a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex or Yoga is a way better option. I put money aside for the Huion Kamvas Studio 16, but not €2299, since this is not worth that price. Sorry Huion, but I went with the newest Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 Gen 8 instead. It has everything the Studio 16 lacks, but costs €1100 less. For that €1100 less I get the latest AMD Ryzen 7 7730u (8 cores - 16 threads), 1 TB of storage, 16" display, more ports and a SD-Card slot and a lot longer battery life. As an artist I went with the 2560 x 1600 100% sRGB screen and got the pen with it. I've got a Kamvas 16 2021, but that Lenovo 16" screen with 16:10 ratio is a huge improvement for an artist that's doing a lot of art for print. The new Flex 5 Gen 8 with lesser Ryzen 5 7530U with upgraded screen is less than €1000 here in Europe, but still easily out-performs the Studio 16. I was happy to pay €180 for the better cpu/gpu and double the storage, since 512Gb doesn't work for me in 2023 as a creative artist... though if the Huion Kamvas Studio 16 would have had a more competitive price, I would have dealt with the 512Gb.

Nevertheless I feel that the HDMI problem you mentioned is a bit sad and overall the specs of this device are not fantastic... @teohontech7141 Год назад
512GB is definitely more than sufficient for installing drawing apps. And also enough for storing files unless your art files are huge and you create them often. But even if you run out of storage, you can get external SSD or Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage 1TB (recommended for storage and backup). I cannot remember what the surface is like on the Wacom Cintiq so I can’t say much.

All the Adobe apps should run alright. Video editing with Premiere may not be idea because the specs isn't really suited for video editing but 1080P video editing should be alright. I think your problem you had in 16:28 with the touch controls affecting the wrong monitor are a problem with Windows 11 itself and how it manages the order of each display. Once you hook up more than one monitor it will automatically embed the touch inputs to the display windows considers as the primary one. And you need to go to Control Panel and look for the Tablet Settings tab. There you can set which display will detect the touch inputs from your device. I had this same issue on an XP Pen tablet that has Touch screen functions as well. Hope this helps!

@amt6307
@amt6307 Год назад
@@teohontech7141 Actually i have the book 2 360 pro. And lets say that the s pen has the same wacom one(screen tablet pen) technology, and is perfect. I have a huion kamvas 13 2020, they are same quality. Maybe this is even better because whenever i rotate and incline the pen, up down left or right , the cursor is always wxactly under the tip, which doesnt happen with my 13 kamvas . So the s pen is a wacom pen really, and i am not using the s pen cause i put a plastic screen protector and the rubber of the s pen started to deteriorate because of the protector. So i got the wacom one pen instead(which is only plastic) and works the same as the s pen, it has one button like the s pen and the coordination is the same. So its very precise and accurated. i thought it would be different but no, its the same technology and everything is the same, if you play with both pens the computer doesnt know the difference. Its been a year for now and its going good with the wacom pen on the samsung. The battery is cool, but i use it on if i travel, most of the time i use it as my main workstation. I work in the anime industry as an animator, and i am very happy with it. Of course it not for super heavy things, but for just normal and a bit oh general heavy work it get the job done well.The cpu is good enough for my anime animation work and every general task like photoshop and illustration of big canvaseses with multiple layers. The full hd is enough for 16 inch. And the notebook is super super light. Maybe a 2k would have been better but it would have drain the battery. So full hd looks nice on 16.

@HissatsuNeko Год назад
@@teohontech7141 Brad colbow did a review of it, and it seems to be at least as good as the apple pencil. So even if the pen is a tiny bit better, you're getting better specs on the galaxy with everything else. Better processor ,3k 16: 10 oled screen, bigger battery , more ports. I feel like huion is over charging for this because they think they can...there's also the Surface laptop studio. Cost around this price for the i7 version and has a dedicated gpu. @teohontech7141
@teohontech7141 Год назад
@@HissatsuNeko The selling point here is the pen performance AND Windows OS. If the Samsung S Pen can match the performance of the Huion pen, then it's almost impossible for the Huion to compete. The S Pen performance can be considered on par with Apple Pencil. But they are not as good as the Huion or Wacom pens. Some artists need that extra level of accuracy. If you don't know whether you need that extra level of accuracy, you don't. And if you don't, it's great because you can save so much more money with other options you have mentioned. If you want to just want to draw, iPad and Samsung Android tablets are good. But if you want to do more? Window OS is needed. There's no page layout programs on iPad, all the tablet versions of desktop apps have limited features, no proper external display support, limited multi-tasking features, limitations with file management, and I can go on and on.

There are numerous negative comments about this tablet in the comment section. Would you, for example, pay $4000 USD for a forklift? If you can't afford it or don't see why you should, it's not for you and you don't need it. I just wanted to point out that, by industry standards, this price is quite reasonable. You want durable tools at a reasonable price. These tools are not toys; they are for people who make money. You should approach these tools with an industrial mindset rather than a consumerist one. If you're curious, you can look up how much a forklift costs.

@@nocturnalbluerose You're underestimating Intel's 11th core i7 1165G7's performance. 2D drawing programs are still primarily reliant on a single core, and this mobile core i7 can turbo to 4.7 Ghz, which is the same as the i7-9700 desktop. Yes, it is a little old, but it is not out of date. You don't need the latest specs to work. To make money, you don't need all the bells and whistles. It's not for the average costumer, but rather a tool for industry. As you said, "you" won't pay for it, you are not the target of this product. Nobody is forcing "you" to buy this. Mobile Studio Pro is out of date and still prohibitively expensive. If you can get a "Mobile Studio Pro 16" with an 8th generation core i7 for less than $1500 USD with no warranty, good for you!
