Review of the Hultafors GK knife from Sweden. Don't forget to go to my website and click on all the ads so that I can make more money to test more knives. www.bushcraftknifereviews.com
Great video! As founder and prasident of the Dutch Bushcraft Association we have Hultafors as a sponsor so our instructors and myself are using this GK a lot. I've been using and testing this knife for over 2 years now and it is still in very good shape.
I don't often learn something totally new these days but I now realise I have been chopping branches from the wrong direction my entire life! The other way just seemed more logical. Thanks for that tip I will do it your way from now on.
Looked at all your reviews man, and ordered this one along with the recommended mora 1 for a bushcraft course im taking this fall. Great reviews man, awesome stuff.
I have that model too and it is an excellent tool - I can confirm all you say. The clip-system of the sheath is a matter of taste indeed, but apart from that it is good and sturdy and locks the knife safely. The smaller Hultafors (orange version) is basically identical in price, size and "feel" to the Mora 511, although I like its handle better than the one on the Mora.
Big strong knife for a big strong dude. Haha! Gonna go and buy one tomorrow actually, and it's like.. 11 dollars in the store here in Sweden. The HVK cost like.. 6 bucks, so I'll buy one of those as well. Both knifes are for working on sites, construction and stuff, but they still work for bushcraft etc of course. :) As a Swede I am always suprised that people in the US and UK etc are using these like this. Same with the Moras. Bigger abroad then at home it seems. ^^
Very good review , very good knife, I like it a lot .I have the same knife for a year and I am pleased with it .Very strong and durable ,easy to sharpen .The only thing I don’t like it’s getting rusty) because I am a sailor .But I’m thinking to buy the stainless steel for these reason).I got it for 10$ with shipping in Bulgaria. You have nice reviews mate!
Thanks for this vid,it encouraged me to order the Hultafors GK and the orange-handled HVK. Both knives are impressive in quality and durabillity. I own and love a couple of Mora's,but this stuff is way more, well,Tough.(with a capital T...:D ) And I know tough when I see it,I own and abuse a couple of Esee knives. These are the perfect back-up blades you can rely on. And who cares if you should break one? For less than 10 euro's,l'll just order a couple more.
Bought 3 this past Christmas (2015) for $21.90 shipped, from a feebay seller in the UK, they had a $10 off special if you bought any 3 items. What a great deal, VERY heavy duty knife, should outlast me by a long shot.
I have that knife and they are great! It's in my view better and Cheaper then Mora, of course Mora are also great but for the price of the GK Hultafors model they are unbeatable in the market today. They are thicker them Mora and they have a great steel. And I can also confirm they come razor sharp. Not "scary" sharp, but razor sharp. Excellent knife and for the money the best one out there.
Nice vid, I have one myself since one year back... GK stands for Grov Kniv in swedish and that means, direct translation, Rough/Rugged Knife. Have you seen GK in combination with HVK in a double holster?
Still, put the wood on a chopping block, and save wear and tear, by not driving the blade into the dirt. It will also reduce the force needed to split the wood because it won't bounce.
interesting review. ive been meaning to pick one of those up but i cant find a dealer in the US. did you say that this was shot in NJ? we have ceder down here in Middle TN but i didnt know yall would have it there.
Aren't Hultafors knives like this originally made for electricians and carpenters in Sweden? I dunno I maybe heard that somewhere. Great review...are you gonna do some weight training vids anytime dude? I wanna try your workout routine you're fuckin ripped man lol!
