I can’t believe how awesome it is! Super fun to use.

That is an amazing fence. The nickel test showing how you can return the fence to the same position is great. I definitely caught when you had to move the fence to access the scoring blade adjustment and my initial thought was to set a stop so you could return to that exact position. Obviously, that's not an issue with the Tiger Fence since it is probably more accurate than using a stop. Thanks for continuing to share your impression of the fence.

I am extremely pleased and impressed with this thing! It’s transformed an “okay” slider into one that I can always count on to be dead on balls accurate! 😆 Thanks David.

actually see it a hammer three. Amy desire to have a biggere one or does this do everything you need

I would love a bigger slider and a bigger shop! 😆 however, this K3 does everything I need. On occasion I need to cut 4x8’s, it’s easy to cross it first, then rip or cut to size. This K3 has a 79” (2006mm) rip (with slider part) capacity. But it’s simple and quick to remove the cross cut fence. Then I can rip any length needed. Hope that helps. Thanks

Nice addition and accuracy/repeatability is where it is at. It is so nice to be able to go back and cut an exact replacement piece when you need to as well. I am curious as to how the Tiger Fence handles the fence high/low corrections and also how fence toe out/in is adjusted. And, the Domino Dock is awesome especially when made by the designer himself. I was thinking the same thing as Steve. Are there built parameters in the computer to make a quick adjustment to where the fence orientation is? Thx
@ramonartful
@ramonartful Год назад
Yeah, for sure. It’s a dream to simply punch those numbers in again and cut a part that’s precisely the same size! And the TigerFence has easy adjustment for height, toe in & out, etc. That part gets aligned first, then the TF goes through a test to check proper installation, straightness of the TF beam etc. Then, you cut a part and calibrate to check accuracy (super fast and simple!)

roman what model and brand of slider do you use? prefer over the saw stop?
@ramonartful
@ramonartful Год назад
Yes…it’s a Hammer K3. I needed a slider to easily cut Baltic Birch sheets. I also have a 10” cabinet saw (Grizzly) At some point I’ll upgrade to a SawStop. Not so much because of the finger saving technologies, but I’ve used one at my brothers shop and their quite smooth. Thanks

Does it fit/work on a Sawstop saw?
@ramonartful

Yes. At the show in Atlanta last year, I got to mess around with the TF that was on a SawStop. Very cool set up!

How much does it cost? Looks like their website makes you sit through a sales pitch like a time share with a bunch of BS before telling you how much you can "save" by giving them (possibly) thousands of dollars...
@ramonartful
@ramonartful Год назад
It’s pricey at around 5k. One would have to look at it in terms of “return on investment”. In many shops that produce countless parts constantly, that will certainly happen rather quickly in time and materials saved. Thanks

@@ramonartful "Pricey" is a relative term... I worked in the metal fab industry when machines were being retro fitted with similar attachments.. $20K to $50K was average price to add something like that.. When they say, leave your contact info and we'll have a sales rep contact you, it's not for someone that makes 8 cuts per year...

Some time ago, I remember you saying that it was getting impossible to find that Baltic birch ply. Has that gotten easier to get hold of? My local supplier here in Oregon never seems to have any. Maybe you’re buying it all for the docks? 😀
@ramonartful
@ramonartful Год назад
Prior to the shortage of Baltic Birch (and when a 5x5 was about $27!) I purchased 40 sheets. Since then, I buy a few when I can find it. The most I’ve paid was $65 a sheet. But it’s hardly available. I have some inventory but it’s dwindling. We’re looking at alternatives…it’ll all pan out. 👍🏼thanks

Looks like great addon, but it is overpriced af, 2,725 for servomotor, over 5k for setup? LOL.
@ramonartful
@ramonartful Год назад
Yeah…I hear you…I thought that too at first. But for a shop that does repetitive cuts over n over…it’ll pay for itself quickly. Much thanks.

@@ramonartful No doubt about that. I bet its like extra person just to set cut parameter, but instantly. When nice CNC stepmotor cost about 200$ then its hard to justify price from Tigers. I know, no one design and produce great addons and upgrades for free, but this price is like a wall for hobbist.

unfortunately, they have focused on the production side of things and have very little to offer the DIY'er . I get it, with the DIY market comes headache. It easier to sell this (and price it) to the professional or pro-sumer market
@ramonartful
@ramonartful Год назад
Yeah…I hear ya. It’s a piece of equipment that needs to pay for itself. I’m assuming that the way it’s priced is congruent with its quality.
