@@ramonartful It's an LP02 from AliExpress. Very cheap compared to something like Siko, but it seems to work well. The magnetic strip fits perfectly into the notch on the front of the scale piece, and I made a little bracket that goes under the cast iron fence mount in order to hold the sensor. I made a little holder for the readout out of 1/4 MDF that sits on top of the cast iron fence mount. I can't believe that it works as well as it does.

Another nice video. Thanks! I have precisely the same table saw as you, down to the dimensions (long slider, narrow rip capacity). But, unless I'm misreading the TigerFence site, the fence is a good fraction of the cost of the saw! I guess it makes sense for someone who uses the saw professionally. My only complaint about the system, which looks amazing, is the keypad. I think it looks a bit like a child's electronic toy.
@ramonartful

Yes they are pricey. But after using it for only a couple of weeks I can easily see where this thing will pay for itself. I cut thousands of parts for the Docks that I make…and accuracy is paramount. $5k was the quote I got back from Tiger Stop. I have an older Altendorf I am planning on replacing at some point. I think I’ll be waiting until I replace it to get something with a CNC fence. I poo-poo’ed DRO’s and automated adjustments until I got a widebelt with a DRO. Now my planer is also entirely automated. The time savings in repeatability and accuracy is incredible. If I wasn’t looking to replace my saw, I’d have one in a heart beat.

Wow, that's awesome! That's seriously beefy, the giant round bar attachment looks really robust and easy to adjust. What's up with the the DRM / "enable code" on the controller - do they want to prevent you selling that to somebody else down the line or something? I use an Incra TS-LS fence on my saw which gives me dead nuts repeatability / accuracy and around .002" precision but takes up a lot of space to the right of the saw. Obviously, it doesn't do any of this fancy automation, and is imperial only, but it's a really great option for a fraction of the cost. I've thought about replacing it with one of the cheaper DROs you can mount to a normal fence, but for now I'm sticking with the Incra
@ramonartful
@ramonartful Год назад
Yes…I too am impressed with the substantial fence! The round bar is seriously beefy! Even the actual fence is much heavier than my original and it’s longer which makes panel or sheet engagement much easier. The enable code along with a serial number allows TigerFence to keep track of fences sold through out the years since they upgrade and make changes occasionally. I looked at the Incra and even purchased a Wixey DRO for my small table saw but never installed it. I have an older style Unifence and it isn’t ideally compatible. Thanks for checking out the video…I appreciate it!

At 28:42 you show the key pad sitting in a housing, was this provided by Tiger Fence? And the bracket post too, or did you fabricate this? Thx
@ramonartful
@ramonartful Год назад
It’s all supplied by TF. There’s more brackets that I didn’t use. It could be mounted a number of ways, positions and locations. I did use a round aluminum dowel about 1 1/2” (38mm) tall to mount to the fence housing. Then the pipe slips over that and secures with a set screw. Thought I’d try this location and so far I like it.

Hi Roman! Excellent video. I have been eyeing one of these guys for my felder kf700 and agree that the felder fence SUCKS! It is a pain to adjust. Having the automated fence would greatly improve the usability of the slider. So I think you just pushed my over the edge by showing the install! Side question- how did you apply the Formica to the steel auxiliary table? Mine on my old k3 and now the kf700 is not flat by any means. Did you just use thick epoxy? Anyways love your work and videos! Cheers.

@StanBlaszczyk
@StanBlaszczyk Год назад
@@zohranbloedjes9770 it’s adjustable thru skewing the two bolts to mount it to the cast iron top. It is doable but a pain. You have to loosen all the sheet metal table mounts first and it’s real course adjustment. It’s not like an American style simple screw on fence that just pushes the fence around easily. I also struggle with the parallax that Roman talks about because there is no cursor to sight in on. The gap between the extrusion and scale is what makes it difficult to view.
@ramonartful
@ramonartful Год назад
Hello! Thank you tons for watching the video. I couldn’t believe that these saws (even the lower budget Hammer line) don’t have a cursor! The saw is accurate…adjusting the fence is not. I’m super thrilled with this combo now! The TigerFence made an “okay” slider into a machine that easily cuts accurate and quality parts! My steel table was surprisingly flat. The rod bolts underneath helped with that. The Formica was bonded with industrial strength contact cement. Much thanks.

It’s too bad you had to turn that front edge of the saw table into “Swiss cheese” to mount all of this. 😁👍🏻. I’ve also seen where people mount the key pad on the left side of the slider table, mounted onto the carriage body of the saw. Nice upgrade to your slider though. Thx for the video. We’re you in the $3-4k range for your size unit? I think when I was calling about one of these, about 2 years ago, it was around $4-5k for a full size one for my K700S.
@ramonartful
@ramonartful Год назад
Yeah…I only had to drill two extra holes in the cast iron…my outfeed table took quite a few bullet holes. 😆 I thought about installing the keypad out there but didn’t want to deal with the long cable. It’s working well where it’s at, anything over 3’ I have to walk around to reach the pad. If I move it…it would be right where the TigerFence starts…setting horizontal. That would be an easy install and out of the way…and stationary 😬 thanks. And oh! Yeah…this was upwards of 5k…special order size was extra. Although, I can easily see something like this paying for itself rather quickly. What’s that saying…“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” The same applies here! My most expensive machines and tools…I never even think about what they cost! I want a K700 😬

Super expensive, and you have to *register* the piece of hardware with them? So when they go out of business in 10 years or decide to stop supporting a particular model, these all become bricks if they lose their memory due to dead battery inside or similar (which does happen with electronics). Seems like a nice idea, but the downsides are significant. If I had to buy this with my own money, I'd probably pass. I have a Felder saw. Glad you are enjoying it, though. :) Did you purchase this yourself, or did they send it at a discount or for free? The video said it contains a paid promotion, but you never mentioned otherwise or in the description what the promotion is. I assume they sent this.
@ramonartful
@ramonartful 11 месяцев назад
You certainly have valid points here. It needs registered to make it easier on their end to keep track of units or even custom made setups, etc. They can quickly reference individual customers through that. I will say this; I looked at these for a loooong time…juggled the idea of the price and estimated time to recover the money. After using it for about 6 months now…I know without a doubt that this thing will quickly pay for itself! The accuracy is one aspect, but the speed of changing the fence is incredible. The TF turned my entry level slider into a superb machine. Yeah, I’d rather have a Felder but for the accuracy I can now quickly achieve, this is incredible for me. I recently made a batch of Zero Clearance Inserts and was able to cut them precisely at 1.84” wide, one after the next. Sure, I could have fiddled with the standard fence to achieve that…but this is so easy! Yes, I did work with them to get this, but I’d gladly pay full price for what it does for me. Thanks a ton for the feedback, I appreciate it.
