Nearly 600 stolen vehicles have been recovered in Montreal. Around 75 per cent were from Ontario. Gareth Madoc-Jones with how authorities stopped the cars from being smuggled out of the country.
This is only window dressing The lazy cops aren't doing anything This is just for show When my car got stolen, they told me forget it and go claim insurance....its in Arica now shame on this Govt and its police force
Its not the gov, its who is getting paid off at this PORT, its been a issue for 50 years. Was Cannabis, but now its vehlcals. The person that found these cars, will be fired and it will be busness as usual next week.
Doug ford right? The OPP is provincial not federal. And yeah they’re not gonna waste resources tracking down your vehicle, the police have never tracked down vehicles for people. Just claim insurance.
@@worstknightmayor4439 Harper brought in mandatory minimum sentences and they were struck down by our supreme court ! Oh and Pierre knows that ! Trudeau 2025 !
1 vehicle stolen every 5 minutes in Canada, that equals 288 vehicles in a day! So they basically recovered 2 days worth of stolen vehicles, let that sink in!
How are ports all over Canada not controlled by the RCMP? Anything being exported in containers should get RCMP approval in case there is human trafficking, car trafficking, illegal weapon smuggling etc
RCMP (jackboots for turdeau) are too busy acting tough stomping out peaceful protests and running grandmas over with horsies. Oh how far weve fallen with turdeau in power for 8 years
Heard from my folks today that they used to. Budget cuts and cost efficiencies did away with that in.... Can't remember now think she said the 90's. Was supposed to be replaced by X-ray equipment.
Exactly,. Impound the ships they were scheduled to be on, file charges against the companies involved. Then maybe they'll stop doing business with criminal organizations when they start losing hundreds of millions of dollars.
It’s not easy if not impossible. A shipping container can hold 18,000+ containers. Then to inspect each one you have to remove all content, go through each item, run a theft check. Container will sit for weeks initial cleared and by then a couple hundred thousand are sitting in port. It’s not easy to track and restack a container buried several rows down and several rows deep.
@@SaturdayNightSlamMaster1980 Here's the thing, the police knew what to search. If they are doing their work right, they'll know what containers to look out for. Frankly, it doesn't matter if it takes, put an end to this. Canadian citizens have been attacked by these organized crime organizations for too long and if they don't do something, it will lead to vigilantes doing something, and that will lead to bloodshed. People are fed up.
@@BC_Geoff Cause that's a much better solution lol methinks insurance premiums will go up astronomically if ppl actually listen, leave their keys where they are easily found and car theft claims spike thru the roof as a result.
This really isn't new news, and almost all the stolen cars go through the Port of Montreal inside containers. Every container being shipped out of the Port of Montreal should be opened and checked before loading onto any ship. Ignoring crimes (organized crimes) does nobody any good.
@@themodfather9382here? Nah man, that’s too much work for Montreal & Quebec. Plus, with how tight everyone is here…hush money is an easy silencer. It’s disgusting we’re letting this all happen.
@@themodfather9382 Some ports have introduced containers' scanners, still understand that less than 1% of containers can realistically be checked. The toll is like the plastics in oceans, check it out!
it's just crazy.. how is it even possible to place a stolen car into the sea container without knowing of the port authorities? imagine what else can be there, dead bodies, nuclear missiles?
@@Doug-zl8nb why not ask the Russian mafia and the Indian mafia running this country. The only way to get ahead is if you scam or do under the table magic .. But what do I know
RU-vid is censoring comments because I'm Canadian so I can't actually write what I have to say What a day to be alive in this country... Communist state
I don't get the point of having a car in africa. There's no gas stations or roads or infrastructure at all and you're just going to be murdered and killed for it within the first 5 minutes of having it. It's just a lawless desert of landfills, sand, and mudhuts 🤷🏻♂️
They did it once so it shows up on the news, but other comments say it's only two days worth of stolen vehicles across Canada. I'm thinking this was done for the sake of the Liberals so they can keep talking about this one event every time the Conservatives bring up car theft.
Cause nobody wants a used car that has an expensive battery that will need to be replaced at some point. @@BC_Geoff global News reported a man from Hamilton who was billed 50 grand for a battery replacement and they would not help until he went public about it. It's on RU-vid, along with another for 10 k.
At the US border I see the 18 wheelers being X rayed . Why don't they do that at the gate of the port. Every truck thru the X ray and if there is a car in it have a closer look .Is that too difficult?
Randomized checks. Imagine if everyone who is entering Canadian boarders on a daily basis had to have their vehicles completely physically searched. Massive back up. It’s a logistical nightmare.
@@SaturdayNightSlamMaster1980 I don't think so. Firstly it's only trucks. Secondly it's as fast as taking just a picture. It actually a drive Thu scanner. It's done in 2 minutes. The US is taking fingerprints and pictures of every non US/Canadian person. They don't care how long the line up is. I go through that every time I enter the US.
The shipping companies, the ones that are knowingly allowing this to happen, should be investigated as mules and smugglers. They are aiding, and are key, to the ongoing vehicle thefts. I think the government needs to apply more pressure to these companies.
Exports are checked by their countries ports of authority as well. There’s more drugs coming across the boarder from the south than there are from shipping containers.
It's about time they look into Montreal port...this has been going on for so long. Montreal Port knows all these stolen cars are egressing from their port so what are they doing to ensure this is not happening.
The people who are profiting from this don’t want it to stop.. Maybe it’s the people who can stop it who are making some cash too. Sure seems to look that way.
Now, don't tell me that the Port authorities are not aware that these cars are being passed through the port. My own van was stolen at 3 in the afternoon and they didn't even look for it. The luxury van was scheduled for South America.
If our idiot “law” enforcement were smart, they would not make a dog and pony show out of this. Instead, they should have had SWAT hide inside the containers at their destination, arrest the buyers and find out who they bought the stolen vehicles from. Now: 1) we’ll never know who’s behind this crime ring, and 2) vehicles/car jackings/etc… will continue. They should have named this operation “Project dog and pony”.
390 shipping containers inspected, 483 vehicles found (why does it say 600?). So 5 vehicle per container, so ~100 containers had stolen cars, or ~25%!!! why did they stop at 390?
Wow they finally decided to open a few of those shipping containers. Before they were refusing to inspect them. I guess the syndicate didn't make their payment.
It’s funny that a month or so ago i watched a news story about a stolen vehicle with a tracking device, traced to the port in Montreal, police said they could do nothing about it because the port was so large, the owner eventually traced his vehicle to the port of Halifax. Now suddenly police are able to find stolen vehicles before they leave the country. What a miracle or are they finally just doing their job?
Quebec police departments and port authorities seem to be pretty incompetent (and maybe even implicit in the crimes) for letting stolen cars come to the port of montreal and then be transported abroad for so long.
