Speaking of difficulty curves, currently playing the RPG "Elex." If I hadn't watched some RU-vid guides, I would have given up very quickly, as you start out with everything in the game being able to kill you in one or two hits and you barely do any damage. You have to spend a bunch of time doing NPC fetch quest quests to earn level ups and running away from all the enemies in order to get strong enough to actually kill things, several hours in. It's a weird curve.
Sounds great. I've never been a fan of leveling up when combat already requires skill bc I end up overgrinding, so I'm glad they gave us a game where it retains soulslike combat without the chance to make it easier by killing the same enemies overcand over.
I joined your Patreon a couple weeks ago and I noticed that I'm still not listed in your videos as a supporter. How long does it take to be credited as a supporter of your channel? It seems the other supporters have been credited in your videos right away. Is there some reason I haven't been added? Thanks...
It’s hard to figure if the challenge is good or frustrating based on this review. I don’t mind a bit of challenge, but I don’t like the sound of trying 20 times to advance further. Can you elaborate more @Noisy Pixel?
If it's well designed and bosses are well choreographed, it depends on skill and how fast you can learn the bosses moves and how to dodge them, and so repeated attempts may be necessary to discover best how to dodge them and then find good opportunities for attacking the boss. If you've ever played a souls like game this is kind of what the game is going for. Well choreographed enemies that require knowledge and skill to defeat, instead of just brute forcing it at a higher level. It can be frustrating at first, but if you adapt quickly it'll click That you need to approach the fight differently in order to succeed.
On Keyboard and Mouse, expect some difficulty as it's not optimized for that type of control, at all. If you're using a controller and have tried out games similar to this, the you should be fine. Just learn the enemy timing and know when to keep slashing (or shooting) and dodge to the enemy attacks. If there's one frustrating aspect that might break the deal, it might be the fact enemies respawn after leaving and reentering an area, which happens a LOT considering the amount of houses you visit and exit (and yes this resets the enemy you just cleared before entering the house). Also I find the customization lacking for those who might struggle with the challenges as the first 2 boss alone can give you quite the beating if you're not used to the controls and have the general game sense of this genre.
I know it's been a while but is there any information on the Dev Moonlight Games? I don't think they make themselves felt much. I'm a Baker and I wanted to get the physical edition on Switch but I haven't heard anything about it yet
I bought and 100%ed it noipixel's recomendation and it's pretty good. Plays best on mouse and keyboard, but that's personal perference. Isn't really "Nightmarishly Difficult" but every death will be your fault. As long do the optional hunts and upgrade your health you'll be fine. Longest I was stuck on a enemy was the 4 boss, took me 15ish tries, and some of the enemy gauntlets you have to fight through take some strategizing and resource management to get through, but that's the fun on this kind of game. One on a early game optional health upgrade took 10ish tries... the run back was not fun, but honestly I can't think of another time the game makes this mistake(and I could've just left and came back when I had unlocked more combat options) Both the art and the story are top tier(or at least to my personal liking) and make a they alone make the game worth a playthrough. tldr:Buy it, or at least try it
Hey, Developer here, I'm very sorry about that, we did want to release everything all together but the port required some more polishing, so we decided to focus on getting everything 100% done first to be able to focus our energy on that with a complete game (that makes the port easier as there isn't so many moving parts), I cannot give you a date but the port is in progress, I promise!
@@Drank4 I understand but I would recommend updating the kickstarter page because it seems people have been getting updates everywhere else but there. And there are a good amount people wanting a refund since the last update was last year. I’ll be patient.
@@bloodyninja2411 I do appreciate that, we are trying to give as much information as possible, a "we are working on it" feels kind of empty, so we are trying to get this all sorted and some more specific dates before continue with announcements, but I will drop a message to the team and see if we can get something together soon.
Nothing yet again. I Dano this whole situation really makes me wish I never tried kickstarter. Ironically this is the first thing I even put down money for since I’m a huge bloodborne fan. I should assume not getting my switch physical copy let alone an update that actually gives out a timeframe.
I wouldn't call it either...you don't "level up" and it's not a souls like because you retain everything you have when you die/open doors and progress doesn't reset. I guess it's just an action adventure :)
