After 13 years of development, the Singapore Army has officially put the Hunter armoured fighting vehicles into service since 2019. Project Hunter, formerly known as the Next Generation Armoured Fighting Vehicle (NGAFV), jointly developed by the Singapore defence ministry's Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) since 2006. Hunter is an armored platform weighing about 29.5 tons, length is 6.9m, width is 3.4m, and height is 3.4m. It is operated by a crew of 3: Commander, Gunner, and Driver, plus up to eight fully armed soldiers in the passenger compartment.

This will certainly be at par with the Bradley IFV and British Warrior rank. Well done indeed.

It's superior, provided it does not eat a TOW. The front glacis is resistant to 105mm, which means that the 25-30mm guns on the Bradley or Warrior isn't going to cut through it anytime soon. You need at least a 75mm to stand a chance of penetrating and might require multiple shots. I suspect that rather than an IFV, this thing might have been designed to hunt down other AFVs with such ridiculous protection levels. The name is also a suspicious point.

Nice vehicle! What is the cost of all this high technology over a standard dumb vehicle? Is it worth the extra cost? What about night vision/detection capability? Is the gun gyroscopically stabilized? If I was purchasing the vehicle as a foreign power or as Singapore's defense purchasing office I would need more information than the video provides. Good night vision, inter-communication, and gyroscopically stabilized gun are key factors in armored fighting vehicles. For jungle warfare, the 30mm Bushmaster should be adequate. Also how easy is it to repair or replace both physical vehicle parts and the electronics & sensors?

That's why when militaries buy equipment they request for tenders and each company provides a vehicle and they test them against each other!

Lets just say that this Hunter Vehicle was a program which started in 2006 by the Army & ministry of defence. DSTA is the agency tasked with Hunters Development working with the local defence company.

The problem with these "infoblogs" are that they are way too vulnerable to misdirection. You see all the BS about touchscreen and networking about the Hunter but that is just the distraction Singapore tosses out to obscure the real highlights of the Hunter. What they don't publicise too much is that the frontal armour of the Hunter is about 200mm thick and their DSTA is very nuts about high efficiency armour, so the Hunter is pretty much proof against other IFV/AFVs unless someone lobs an ATGM into the front glacis. 200mm is about similar to the T-72's frontal and that caused NATO to reconsider the effectiveness of the 105mm and upgunned to the 120mm so it should be safe to say that the Hunter is resistant to at least 105mm fire (but not proof against it). The flip side is that with such a heavy glacis plate, repairs to the engine might not be as easy as it is in one of the lighter skinned vehicles.

Can this cannon pierce through modern tank armour?
@Nayo_The_Mayo
@Nayo_The_Mayo Год назад
it can possibly pierce tanks like the T-72 but wouldn't be able to pierce an Abrams etc

It has 2 spike ATGMs to take out armoured targets.

@ultimaxed8239 Yes, I know usually these AFV or IFV will include such missiles but why not a larger canon that can take out modern MBT. In fact, Singapore should venture into Light Battle Tanks business.

@@neutraluser4019it is an armoured fighting vehicle, so it will be following and supporting the Leopard 2s with mechanised infantry. Support is its primary role.
