This is a fairly close to 100% original paint 1984 FXSB Lowrider. 1984 is the last year Shovel production for civilian Shovelheads. 1985 saw all EVO production except 300 made for the police in the FLHP model.
This was my first Harley that I still own, was lucky enough to buy it from the original owner who worked in assembly at the Harley York PA plant. Just something about the Shovels for me that I love.
everyone has their own taste. Personally, I love shovels. the 1981 FXS was my 1st bike, and I picked up in part because of the mags. HD has been making mag wheeled bikes now for 40 years, so I am not the only one! No AMF shovels, no Harley, fact
Just bought a 83 FXSB Lowrider with the original paint. Matter of fact it is still 100% original. What makes this an unique buy is I'm the original owner. I bought the bike in Montreal PQ. in Feb. 1983. I sold it in 1991 and by chance saw it on Kijji. My serial number is located on the right lower casing and on the right front lower post. Till further notice this bike is listed as PRICELESS
values are all over the map. the price also varies between location and buyer and seller. For any old HD, whatever your willing to pay and they are willing to part with and you agree upon is the value at that moment in time
My dad had a 84 low rider with only 3,040 miles . It was perfect. He sold it and it’s all custom now . The guy never replaced the white letter original Dunlop tires and that be the only thing I would of changed . Big dry rotted but just old . That bike takes me back to my child hood but I love to have a 1990 fatboy like in Terminator lol
Thanks Todd, Yeah that's kinda been my philosophy since I started in 1989! I ALWAYS HOPE FOR +- 25% on that as well. Just got back from picking up an 82 Superglide and a 1965 BMW R S, with both upper/lower fairing, and saddlebags! Has not been started since 1985 I think, that may be gone already. Yeah the newer ones I get I have been having a hard time with as well. Got a 2006 Heritage at 7500 on ebay, well below trade in, nothing!!
Lol, thanks for answering a question we were just talking about today, when they merged the FXS + FXB into FXSB. I did know the factory had the FXSB with the Evo motor in 85. If you have any idea why the factory named the LowRider FXS, instead of FXL or FXLR I'd love to hear it. FXB at least made sense, "B" for belt. I have the 85 FXEF by the way, and it had that same rear master + reservoir.
My first Harley was a 1980 FXB Sturgis. I bought it for the belt drive and because I wanted a Harley. For me AMF was not really a factor for me. Had many years of riding on it. And all my Harleys for the last 32 years have been shovels. Nothing sounds like a Shovel !!
only ride the old, or the new, because that is what you want to ride. My rider's are all original paint Knuckles and original paint Panhead's, plus my 49 WL original paint. each has their preferance
the same basic logic goes. If you can buy within an hour from you and your trying to make some money, make sure you have customer's for at least 2k over your purchase assuming the bike is in good condition. Keep in mind, if it breaks, there went your 2k profit. The bike did not sell on ebay. NONE of my bikes have been selling on ebay through the buy it now. Be really careful buying anything right now without customers for it. Market is D E A D. That is why I have so few new ones.
@@HuntingHarleys around here prices are probably 60% what they were 5yrs ago. We sold a "stockish" 70s LowRider for $7000 just a year and a half ago. I now see similar listed for $3500-4000. Softails + Dynas for $3000-3200 sometimes.
@spamfriedmice4800 just gotta buy cheaper then the going rate. Prices have crashed due to our great economy. Overseas buys 95% of used HDs. Take out 95% of the buyers from any market, prices crash. Our $ cost too much for overseas buyers to buy
I understand all that, as I do buy, fix, sell shovelheads, albeit not at your scale, and I do appreciate the response as I am sure you are quite busy. To rephrase, did your bike sell on your ebay? And if so would you mind sharing that info. I will be looking at one of these next week, just wanted to get as much knowledge as I can. regards, bktrash
LOL, they still make the motor's in Milwaukee and assemble the bikes in Pennsylvania. Someone's been telling you stories. you should visit their plant sometime, they give tours
I enjoyed your video very much....yesterday I scored a barn find 84 lowrider, so last nite I watched this a couple times....this morning I went to the bike, checking things out, and found something peculiar....although my vin is an E (and it IS matching numbers to the frame), my engine stamp is on the REAR case....could this be an early production?
