I ride a 2001 heritage springer and I absolutely love it. It's red and black with orange pin striping and it looks awesome. Mine is fuel injection and it rides so smooth. These are such good looking bikes.
Very nice bike. Bought one new in 98 road it for 5 years sold it for more than l paid for it. Damn Me! The color was called Midnight Red and champagne Perl. Still miss her.
I remember back in the 80's saying I would never buy one of those "new" blockheads. Decades later in era of "Twincams and whatever the f@#k else they make" finding a 96 FXSTC with 4k miles on it has been a blessing

Bought a new 2000 Springer, and kept it perfect, low miles and stock until 2014 when a blind old lady driving a Hyundai decided to turn it (and me) instantly into an accordion.
That is nice! Everything about it! Handlebars, color etc. don’t like how narrow back exhaust is ( I know for that cool sound) lots of compression build up could get it too hot and stall a lot. I would somehow widen that exhaust with a tool but not damage it. Like it♻️. If I come across one I’m going to be real interested. You sold me on this one. Dogs even like it!
Didn't the Softails have fuel gauges back then? My 97 Dyna has one. I love those evos and I remember the 3 year wait back in the 90s. Used bikes were bringing a couple thousand over their retail price when new.
I knew people on the lists that would get a new bike every year, they would trade in the year old bike for a new one cause the lists were long enough that a year old bike went for more than a new one listed for.
I remember being 19 in 1993 and having an evo and having everybody looking down their noses at me because it wasn’t a shovel.now they look down upon any and all twin cams fackem
Yeah that plastic or just are not on the choke I found the the brass not on the back side helps in giving resistance to the cable you can’t turn it too much you will break the plastic threads. What I do on mine the resistance is somewhat worn out I pull it out and turn the knob slightly to the rear it stays out then I turn it slightly forward I can push it in a little bit and turn it slightly to the rear and it stays in each position.
Btw, I was working as an electricians helper when the 03 came out (100th anniversary) We added on to the local dealers shop, and there was a waiting list to buy a new Harley almost a year long! How times have changed!
Any idea why the previous owner hasn't registered since 2015? I'm near downtown LA. Big fan of those late 90's FLSTS models. The CA DMV is real ball-bust. Late fees I can deal with though. Just wondering why no registration for five years. Unless the prior owner was/is a "guest" of the state. I've seen that happen before.
Funny how much people's minds change about bikes and what you like or don't like. I have a friend that owned a 95th anniversary just like this one and he wrecked it and suffered a head injury and decided to sell the bike. He approached me about it and I couldn't stand the looks of the thing. Now I'm kicking myself in the ass because I didn't buy it
