Wow!...these are serious wild brown trout, amazing to know such fish reside and thrive in your river...really well done for catching/landing these fellas from all your years of experience George ...and for respectfully handling/returning them safely. As a positive / thanks to recent weather conditions, perhaps you wouldn't have traditionally attracted these larger / quality fish without showing them a streamer mouthful...hoping you have a great season over the coming months with your nymphs and dries....great video and a real red letter day👍👍
Great to see the streamer fishing George and fantastic sized trout. Last year I started focusing at just fishing streamers on the Nore especially during salmon-like conditions (dropping flood). Definitely catch less fish throughout the day but the takes are addicting and they are great craic to tie as well. Would love to see you do more streamer fly tying videos in the future if you get the time!
I have been fishing a two fly rig for most of the last 50 years as my go to system! Hardly ever fish dry asI find little need! A streamer on the point with a wet, usually a size 12 Picket Pin, on a dropper, 2 feet, more or less, on a short, stiff tag. SometimesI hook 2 trout on one flick but only land both maybe 50% of the time! If you fish streamers, I suggest you give it a try! Tight lines! Nice trout you caught here!
Fine trout George, nice to see theres some good trout in the rivers, many years ago i hooked a 4 pound trout on a tiny grey duster near dark in a small stream, all hell broke loose but i landed it.rivers were hit badly round here with drainage leaving very little water to fish in the summer time
Congrats George. Stunning fish. Great to see a big Pike showing too. You lnow the river is in good health when theres two species of apex predators thriving.
Thank you and congratulations for showing such a good day of fishing. Honestly, I think it would be very beneficial for you to use Spanish-style nymphing techniques. For my part, I would be happy to show you the basic principles of this technique.
Super sport George! Like you im a streamer novice, i always feel its a less elegant form of fly fishing but very exciting! Superb method when the rivers are "too strong" ive found it controversial with my own utube followers 😂 What weight would you put that big boy at??👍
What great trout, the first streamer, was that your angry bird, second catch would that have been a mary banger, I haven’t used streamers myself but I am going to give it a go, ordered a few off your mate to see how I get on then will tie up a few myself. Great video as always.
Love a bit of streamer fishing My tackle supplier sells me really heavy flies though. Yours seemed quite light and you cast it easy. May I ask what you had on?
