if you've never used a shotgun before its pretty normal to miss a lot. Hopefully i dont butcher my explanation. When i started using a shotgun after coming from only ever using a rifle aiming it didnt 'feel' right in a sense, always missing despite thinking im putting the gun sight on target (or leading if its moving). i was being taught by my old man at the time and he always says 'look at what you want to shoot and aim with your body, don't overthink about where you have to aim cause that how you miss most shots'. i thought he was bloody mad but i had a marked improvement on clay pigeons and rabbits after that.
Ya the biggest reason I struggle when using guns at first is I would line up the far sight down the barrel with my target and fire and wonder why I miss, it wasn’t till I learned and realized that you have to line all of the sights on a pistol together that you’ll be accurate, the same was true for a shotgun I had to look down the whole barrel andddd have the far sight locked ok in order to hit, that’s why i struggled at first, overtime I got better, keep in mind I’m not claiming I’m accurate yet lol but atleast i can hit targets the precise aiming still has to be worked on obviously
My friend managed to hit a squirrel off his roof with a pebble and he was just trying to scare it away but ended up using a revolver because it was injured
