Hurdles with Shaykh Mikaeel Smith (Class 8) 

This is my note from this class: Whoever wants to have Taqwa only has to watch 5 limbs of their body. 1. Your eyes. 2. Your ears. 3. Your tongue. 4. Your heart. 5. Your stomach. The best treasure that a man can have is a righteous wife, when he looks at her, she brings joy to his heart. When the blessing becomes a true source of gratitude, it’s just a blessing. The objective of sight is not to be shallow with it. If you want to be obedient to Allah, protect your eyes. The eyes and the ears are the doorways to your heart, and your heart is your home, do you let anyone stroll at your home? You can buy a new home but you can’t buy a new heart. The words you hear and the things you see are like food, that hid inside of you, some of it is good for you, some of it ain’t, some of it nurtures you, some of it poisons you. If that is something that comes in words or the sight it just stays after you, every now and then, the thoughts come back, and the ideas come back. It’s easier to block it before it comes than after it comes and you cure it. Allah teaches us in the Quran, to lower our gaze from anything that is going to cause Fitnah within us. If you stop Fitnah from entering your eyes, it’ll purify your heart and will increase you in spiritual growth. The ones who don’t control their gaze will never find containment with what they have/ who they have. All they see is what they don’t have. Whoever just looks at everything is insane, he drives himself insane by seeing everything he can have and on top of that not valuing what he does have. If he had never looked at it, he would have been chilling the rest of the day. Every part of our limbs was created for a reason. Our eyes were created so that we could see Allah in Jannah. The one sitting in a gathering and listening to people’s backbiting each other is the same as the one who’s speaking it. Whatever you allow to your ears stirs up your thinking and the whispers to your heart then it goes from your hearing to your heart to your actions and now it becomes your habit.
