you're a great channel for the game Darragh, you highlight the best moments for everyone to see. Everyone can experience the magic of our game. Good to see you back uploading.
God, I love this game so much. Brings back many fond memories of driving all over Galway watching club matches with my uncles in the 80s and 90s. I was at the match in Athenry when Eanna Ryan was grievously injured. That was before they introduced helmets to the game. I live in the states now, and follow the big matches on twitter. I pay for view if Galway is in the All-Ireland final. Thank you so much for this great compilation. Hon the Tribesmen!
Amazing that I haven't heard of this sport yet, although I thought I was well informed about Ireland. I know this variety of Sports exists because I read the wiki article about Irish hero Kevin Barry and it says that he also ran this sport. By the way, I would love to see this Irish sport spread even further around the world.
Hurling is Ireland’s 2nd most popular sport, after Gaelic football. Hurling and Gaelic football are both governed by the GAA. The GAA was a nationalist organisation established in 1884, in Tipperary, Ireland
Never heard of hurling (USA here), was watching Bob's Burgers this morning and it was on there. So had to check it out, looks like a pretty exciting sport.
Such an amazing sport. Makes you proud to be Irish. Just wish that it would be taking more seriously up where I grew up in Donegal and other counties. Was honestly never introduced to a hurl once growing up. Would have loved to have played the game. 🇮🇪
Hurling is my life play 3 hours a day at home honestly wouldn’t know what to do without it I’m only 12 from Wexford aiming for the Wexford squad cmon Wexford
@Soda King Ya 2010 & the homecoming, the stuff of dreams, Tipperary flooring what they call the greatest team of all time and deny them a historic moment!🤣🤣 they had to burn all the "its history you know the 5 in a row" tee shirts!! Before they escaped and ended up in every pub across Tipperary, Avonmore had to re-ice the cake at the banquet in the citywest hotel 🤣🤣🤣. Hammered KK in 2016 and ending the decade in 2019 hammering kilkenny again as they watched Dublin win the 5😂😂😂.
Best game ever..from the playground in school's too club level..to county.. league's and championship. No just the fastest field sport on earth but the toughest played by warrior's that become legend's ☘️👌👍
In the USA watching Hurling for the first time in fifteen years. Still exciting, and scary. Enjoy Gaelic Football too. I think GAA would enjoy Lacrosse?
@@Db1684 I don’t know about that, it’s a Native American game that the French named lacrosse. In fact during world games and tournaments the Iroquois nation has a team and is one of the best nations in the world at it.
I came to this video because I was cynical of the title... But yeah seeing the technical plays and skills it's hard to think of a sport that's looks as difficult/tough as this
Yeah it's probably because she was useless at it but to be fair at the same time Athy is one of the biggest shitholes in Ireland so that might have a bit to do with it as well
Nah, shinty is only an offshoot of hurling, I've watched shinty games, they don't even come close to hurling. It's the oldest and best ball game in the world bar none.
@@conoconnor4375 you could be right but then again - you've not taken us in the Shinty-Hurling international for a wee while (as of 2019 we'd taken 4 in a row) and that's with your big bats. Either way, I never played hurling as a laddie but got a great grounding in shinty and enjoy watching both!!!
@@andrewberry9356 That's true, but I believe a lot of the teams on the Ireland side were made up of players from the weaker counties in hurling in Ireland, the strongholds of hurling in Ireland, cork, kilkenny, Galway, limerick and Tipperary didn't have too many o the Irish selection , so the Ireland teams weren't particularly strong in those meetings, this I believe is more down to these particular county players being not particularly interested in the international series, many because they're amateur and put so much time and effort into competing and trying to win the holy grail.of hurling the all Ireland championship, they just don't ha e the sa.e motivation to put in the required time and effort to play an international series as well. The weaker teams and players see it as more of an honour and are more committed to representing the country because they have so little chance to do anything with their county's because they're not good enough to compete with the elite counties I mentioned.
Pity some counties only play 2/3 games a year.. No one cares about the league.. You would think they would promote the league more.. Footballers ⚽ play 50/60 games a season and yet they are called soft by hurlers who play 5/6 important games a season
I love this game and I'm an American, but it's only a matter of time before African Americans start playing it hear, and we all know what happens after that.....
@@tomkelly8427 oh right that's funny ,there are different styles of football . Bat and ball games ,someone invented basketball .In America .They actually had a basket at each end .then some bright spark made a hole in the bottom .you didn't have to keep getting the ball out .apparently the old wifeys used to give children a wooden spoon and a ball ,probably made of wool or twine to amuse them .They used to play football between villages .apparently ,people used to die .
