What blows my mind is to imagine wind like that lasting for hours. No wonder nothing can survive a major hurricane (and that's not even including the flooding or storm surge).

I used to manage a boat shop in Rockport that was a satellite store fir the main store in Corpus. I lived in the Costal Bend are for almost 17 years, and my former vice commodore for Fleet 99 lives alongside the bay/intercoastal waterway there at Rockport. At about an hour and half before the eye wall landed, he said the winds were reaching around 130 mph, with gusts reaching around 142 mph... That is more than what I had been through. His videos of what was happening to and inside his Hurricane resistant house were quite impressive. What is also impressive was how his wife was maintaining her composure.

Clorox Bleach I Corpus Christi only had a 63 mph wind gusts! But I do know Rock-Port had a 132 mph wind gusts sustained at 110 mph! But it's not the wind it's the water that's more important!

sue bee I mean it's water that is more deadly! Wind might look scary but Hurricane are not always about wind! Yes it might be very windy there but storm surge can do more damage! Superstorm Sandy also had a lot of wind but most of the damage was from the water same thing with Katrina! Harvey is all about the rain! Not wind!

Venus doesn't have water vapor to make thunder clouds but lightning is present on that planet. Storms are more than air masses and water, they're created by electric currents from the Sun.

Okay I love knowing how everyone else family and friends and there homes are doing.. my mom lives in ingleside tx and I can't find out if her house boat is okay .. she's here w me five hours away and they don't know if they have a home to go back to and is all everyone can talk about is where hurricane Harvey came in at.. this is people home and life just saying y'all needed to post more towns and cities that would be great thanks and God bless you

It was downgraded to a tropical storm (70 mph winds proof this) at 1 PM Saturday, well beyond 8 hours ago, therefore, the eye NEVER came straight at you idiot.
