I think your approach is right. Do all you can to protect your boat, but not at risk to yourself. I hope your boat is OK, and look forward to the update. From the radio news I heard, Ian is kicking some ass.
Good luck in the hurricane. I stayed on our family boat thru a hurricane. At the time we had just bought a new boat and had the old one still for sale about 10 slips down from the newer one. My dad and I shuffled between the two all night as the storm passed. No damage to our boats, but as one of the few boat owners in the marina, we stowed deck furniture and adjusted lines for other boats. One suggestion, make sure your mooring lines are nylon rope. Much stronger and elastic to absorb shock. I'd also suggest spring lines to restrict fore and aft movement in the slip.
Thank you for taking the time out to post this video and then repost it.. I was concerned about you as I was going about my own preparations and helping my daughters etc.. I hope the winds don't catch your canvas, maybe wrap the Bimini canvas in spare line if you get the chance... This storm has been really unusual and hasn't followed any of the model tracks, it was never predicted to be a category 5 or to sit off Southern Florida as a category 4 for hours, hopefully it passes far enough to see we're inland that we don't get a lot here in Jax but we are still going to get a lot of water, both from upstream downstream and the sky.. stay safe don't take chances, boats are just material objects and can be replaced
Looks like you are going to escape the worst of it, good luck and take some cool vids as it sweeps past, the king tides were crazy down here on FL east coast down south. Love your videos. My parents and sisters and daughter are up in Jax.
Stay safe my friend!! Keep us updated! Insanity in Ft. Meyers and surrounding area...I'm sure you'll see some wind and surge, but at least it will be weaker when it gets to you.
I am moved by your resilience. All of us Chris Craft Catalina stewards up north will be pulling for you. Your Corninthean has a true blue captain who knows the limits of your ship and crew. We will await your all clear.
G'day from Australia, keep us posted on how you go, I'm not sure where you are in Florida???, but we're seeing the reports on the news over here, all the best mate
Do you have fore and aft spring lines for when the wind shifts? Did you tie down the Bimini support so it can’t flip backward if the wind gets under it? Best of luck and hope all goes well.
@@CullenCraft I am glad you are under that hard cover and you will stay with your yacht. I hope the tidal surge does not get so high you have to move out of your slip. But if so you could go out and anchor somewhere? I am just north of you coastal Georgia. Hang in there Captain. 👍
