iCyclone's Hurricane ODILE Chase: Footage from Cabo San Lucas as the violent cyclone smashed the city. Powerful winds destroyed our hotel lobby while we ran for cover.
@hebneh Yeah but it also could've been a bad thing because wiring being exposed due to outburst by a hurricane could lead to a fire. And that's NOT good for anyone of these guys trapped inside trying to find safety.
hebneh *next hurricane you’re in, you are trapped in a room with a bunch of people and you go to turn the lights off, everyone just stares at you and you say “it wasn’t terrifying enough”* lmao 😂
Not as scary as the people who didn’t have a place to stay or for people that didn’t have a stable home or the people with business who almost went into bankruptcy because of this hurricane. That was scary.
“I need to find my camera man.” *Goes to camera mans point of view* Large chunks of wood going flying past him. Legs are bleeding. Hunkering down in the corner. “This is fine”
Just to give you some insight on how good of a job you did; of everything I have seen on the net I have chosen your video as the example to demonstrate the dangers that can come with hurricanes from a firsthand perspective. This is for a new class I am developing. Great work ! Mr. C, Framingham MA.
Christopher Collins Wow, that is awesome. I am really honored-- thank you, Christopher! That's what I was trying to do-- really capture the wildness of the experience for someone watching at home. Very cool. :)
I personally would have been watching the eyes around the doors there, never know if a door is gonna smash and the strong wind will definitely blow it in the eyes before y can react
ive never thought that hurricanes could be that scary, until i watched this video. massive respect to the camera man, steve, who had the pure balls of steel to film that during the hurricane
Well they didn't have to deal with flying door frames and glass from that direction did they? A success then. (I see the humour, don't worry, however they did to the right thing)
Scariest part of the video was when they made it into that computer room and someone says...."the building is shaking!....sounds like it's coming apart!" WTF!!
You wanna know what's more scairy? Experiencing a high-gust storm in a countryhouse, when you start to feel the whole house (3 story cottage) is rocking abit on it's foundation, like a bus with shot suspension, every time you hear that low-bass howl in the (steel) door seals..
6:45- “yea if we open it the ceilings gonna blow up” ..... that’s what I always love to hear when I am trying to escape a potential in-room hurricane and its the only available exit to (essentially) NOT DYING. 🙏🏼🙅🏻♀️ (lol but not really...) I cannot even imagine the pure horror and terrifying extreme flight instinct that it must have felt like in those moments!!!! Scary as hell. I am so grateful that this video exists and that they made it out safely- which is pretty much all anyone could ask for with that nightmare experience through Odille (aka- “Cabo’s new sleep paralysis demon) and her wrathful annihilation that occurred along her unforgiving path. I love Cabo so much (as my family has a home here) and it is really hard watching this video and knowing what lay ahead in the long aftermath 💔🇲🇽🌊🌫
Future storms will ripped your flesh from your bone due to very extremely emense pressure of supersonic wind wind of Category 20 hurricane/typhoon. Like an 1 million Tsar Bomba detonate on the entire country.
This is what real hurricanes are like. This what gulf coast states deal with. And the Caribbean. It’s not like New England “superstorms” that stay well off the coast. Those aren’t hurricanes.
U obviously haven't been thru a tornado lol cause that building or you would've be found for miles and thats was bad but imagine hurricane andrew cat 5 thats some shit
Have you seen the winds from hurricane Michael in 2018. See that and get back to me . I bet after seeing that one you'll change your mind I bet the farm that you will.
the thing is, we get hurricanes this strong every like 10 years tbh, Cabo is built for hot weather. Not for rain or storms, since we get little rain through out the year. I can assure you now almost everyone has learned from their mistake and completely protected their houses, business, etc. Traumatized, we learned from our mistake of thinking it wasn't going to arrive.
This is the most epic footage of a hurricane ive ever seen. Every hurricane ive survived was category 1-3 so ive never experienced anything like this. Glad you made it through
Me and my family live in Cabo San Lucas and we experienced that hurricane when I was 8. I just gotta say THAT WAS THE MOST TERRIFYING NIGHT OF MY LIFE! But I’m thankful for the people who made it through it and I’m sorry for the people who lost everything because of it.
Thank you, Michael! I am so glad you dug it-- you are a connoisseur. ODILE really was a no-nonsense storm-- the real thing. I'm just glad we kept the cams rolling.
I remember that day, i’m from Los Cabos and the news said that the hurricane wasn’t a risk, but they we’re wrong. I can understand the fear and even terror in the hotel. In the houses, neighbourhoods....was worst, i remember the screams from the people in the house on front because the winds were so strong and fast that broke windows and even doors, a lot of the people died that night
It was the worst experience of my life... I was alone in my apartment hiding in the bathroom with no power since 7:30 pm... While I was watching the video I started crying ... The power of nature... thank you very much for sharing what we live that night... a night that we will always remember.
I remember going through this. I was in La Paz, (which is like 2 hours away) and it was chaotic to say the least. All the city billboards were completely bent and torn. The local OXXOs (kinda like Mexico's 7eleven) were destroyed. Somehow an entire steel kitchen sink got stuck in the tree next door. Windows shattered, cars got damaged, and even a piece of the frickin CEMENT BOARDWALK ripped off. It was crazy!
The tornado in Nashville hit my family’s house. It was destroyed within 10 seconds while we were inside asleep. We barely made it out and we are very lucky to be alive. The windows breaking scared the shit out of me and brought me back to the worst night of our lives 2 months ago. I also got injured during the tornado. Thank you for posting this, to show people what natural disasters are actually like.
Wow, that was crazy. I would of shit my pants. I never been in a hurricane. That was great footage of what you poor people went through. I hope no one was killed or severely injured. Thank you for sharing!
Gnarly man, just plain gnarly!!! I definitely learned NOT to stay anywhere on the first floor of a hotel, and FAR, FAR away from the lobby of any establishment. This was some great footage guys!
I feel so sorry for the hotel owners who lost their property / livelihood. You’ve got to admire the tireless work of the hotel staff to keep their guests and property safe.
I can’t imagine being in this situation I’ve been in a tornado my house shook like crazy. The tornado sounded like a train. And my dads car was in the garage and the alarm went off
Incredible footage as always! The scariest nighttime footage of a storm since hurricane Andrew. Is it right that Odile had a pressure gradient of 3mb per mile? That would be near Haiyan with 4mb. The southern eyewall in a tropical cyclone is always worst than the northern one. Really love this small and powerfull wind monsters!
Hey, thanks, arcane! I'll tell ya, it was scary being there. :) Yeah, based on my data and calculations, the gradient in that inner eyewall was approaching ~3 mb/n mi. It was pretty sick!
WOW! Brings back memories of my apartment in Hurricane Wilma in Cancun. Total destruction! Same thing, you protect one side, then the eye comes and the worst is just ahead when the wind hits in opposite direction. No sleep! Great video and thanks for posting.
Thank you so much, Alejandro! One of my biggest regrets was missing WILMA in Cancun. I'm sure it was *very* intense! Thanks fore sharing your memories. Glad you liked my video. :)
Even the heaviest could knock it down by nature. Future storms would be 1000mph enough to wreck steels and concretes. Like an atomic or nuclear bomb strength.
Hurricane Matthew prompted me to revisit our experience with Odile. We stayed at Cabo Azul Resort at San Jose del Cabo. The resort took pretty good care of us. Didn't have to evacuate or sit in the stair well all night. We holed up in a bedroom that had a tiny shuttered window. The 'master bedroom' was unusable-- slider caved in and there was wind, water and debris everywhere. Very loud and dark all night long. Water pouring through ceiling. Next day found cellphone coverage in a 4x4 area in front of the hotel. We'd wait in line for our turn. Recharged our phone (which was used for light at night) in the refrigerator outlet which had generator power. Hotel was running out of water/food and there was looting. Several days later the resort sent a bus to take us to airport. . We waited in the sun (95 degrees & humidity) for 5 hours. Got a flight to Mexico City (on our way to Seattle!). A guy had cardiac arrest and died on the plane. There was a Hilton in the airport. Escapees from Odile had a grand time in the bar!
For folks from the West Coast this had to be a real eye-opener as to jusy how powerful, & how dangerous these storms can be. Warnings are not given lightly, heed them from your local authorities, and when they say "GO" do it.
Saludos desde cabo san Lucas bajá California Sur México 🇲🇽, aun se recuerdan esos días muy difíciles y tristes para mucha gente que perdió seres queridos y perdías materiales
This is one of the BEST hurricane videos I've ever watched! Hats off to those brave guys who filmed and risked their lives in that lobby as it was being torn to shreds! I don't understand how that window glass held back so much power. Yes, some shattered, but amazing that many held up. Also how did the power remain on during that?! Amazing!!!!!!!
Words can't describe how much I enjoyed this video, this is the reason why I respect mother earth and it's awesome power of wind (which I fear the most) I really thought that when you guys blocked the window with the furniture I thought that was going to do a little good job until shit got too real, maaaan.....talk about Mother Nature that plays no games with anybody when she gets on her bad side, I would like to say thank you for this video because this was one hell of a ride on max, thumbs up because this gave me anxiety while watching👍 :)
I've been in my share of hurricanes and small tornadoes but this tops all of them! Glad you guys made out okay! Tho the building didn't that much. I don't remember this one clearly so I'm going to research it cuz it's all way back in 2014 just a few months before my son died.
Wow Hurricane Odile was intense the ceiling getting ripped off by the Category 3 winds and all that damage reminds me of how I Survived Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Anyway outstanding video josh good luck and I hope you and Steve survive.
The second phase of this hurricane is much more horrible when you look at the wind, it sucks everything!!!! Thank you for the video, hope you never get hurts again!
