That multiple save file conversation was super relatable. It’s nearly always needed not just for save corruptions but also player mistakes (like say if you miss a weapon you can go back to an earlier save!!). I get anxiety watching 1-save let’s plays lol 😂

I think it makes sense why they would shoot at her- they know of Willard's plan with the artefacts and have seen their colleagues turn into these crazy monsters. So they know that Lara has the artefacts and assume she is working with Willard so they try and kill her.

“Maybe Research Xplorer” accompanied by Alfredo’s perfectly timed pan to show the ship name was pure comedy.

Always enjoyed the Antarctica levels. Especially once it switches to more horror themed.

I haven't played this Tomb raider yet and I wanted to wait for remasters but my need to watch you guys play and have fun is bigger than my fear of spoilers so here we go haha :D I found Raidercast few weeks ago and I totally fell in love. :)

This is one of my favourite levels and sections in the game and is the gold standard I judge all snow levels in games by. I love the ambience, the falling snow, the motor raft and the damaged base. According to the script or at least a different version to the one I gave you, the RX Tech workers are paranoid and hiding out on the ship away from the mutants inland, attacking anything that moves out of fear. The dogs likely had run ins with mutants themselves and are scavenging for food and attack to defend themselves, similar to how abused dogs are more likely to harm humans if they perceive them as threats. The men in the base are likely there to gather supplies. Nowhere in the game itself is this ever explained. One version of the script just says Lara is attacked by mutants, implying the workers may already be going off the deep end. Willard doesn’t seem bothered by it though. I’d say the men are also hiding from him but that doesn’t explain the two guys outside Scott’s Hut.

I can't with y'all banters 😆 they're so entertaining. Always loved the atmosphere in this level, just wanna drive the boat the boat around over the icy waters💙 Another job well done for Alfredo, the last 3 levels shall be... interesting, neither of them are simple.

I never noticed the boat's motor was numbered 2001 lol Can't wait to see Alfredo's frustration trying to figure out the beginning of the next level though...

Omg this level will look so good when the remakes are released! I've always loved snowy levels in games and this one is such a beautiful one. I think this area was supposed to have a killer whale swimming around but sadly they did not include one.

What a great level. Beautiful and thrilling! I love that whole part with the blasted hut and the mutant, it's an excellent setup for what comes next, and is even pivotal to the fantastic cutscene. I love this level - although, couldn't they have called it something more specific than just "Antarctica"? My theory about the RX-Tech workers attacking Lara is that Willard either never told them Lara was coming, or he warned them of an imminent intruder. Either way, he counted on them killing her, so he could retrieve the artifacts and get rid of her in one fell swoop. Just like Natla tried when she sent Larson to kill Lara after she retrieved Qualopec's piece of the Scion.

I always thought that the RX Tech employees were trying to kill Lara to stop her delivering the artefacts to Dr Williard, having seen how their colleagues have been physically warped during the expedition

Alfredo the Tomb Raider. Once again very well played. I believe the key to the hut at the start of the level is in the water in that 1st section by where you start.

Re: why the men shoot at Lara: we've already seen that the Infada stone drove Tony to madness. Leigh and Puna are similarly murderous. These guys have just succumbed to the same effect. Lara must have a lead backpack to keep her brain safe!

Nice going! I don't know why this level seemed shorter than I remember it. Maybe I take too much time with the enemies because I worry about ammo too much :D Speaking of which, I think it's kinda obvious but because I've seen it several times now (for example in this video at 10:46) I think it's worth mentioning: If Alfredo is turned sideways so that Lara shoots with only one pistol, it actually deals half the damage, so it's better to be turned in a way that makes her shoot with both. Haha glad you found the crowbar again, I was worried when you didn't notice you dropped it that you would spend too much time in the level later, trying to figure out how to open the other door without it :D Luckily they figured out how to make Lara keep the crowbar in TR4 instead of having to pick it up every time. As for why the people here are shooting at Lara, I read a nice explanation that they are simply spooked by all the weird things happening around that they attack anything (anyone) strange. But having them already be mutated, even if it's not visible yet, is also a great idea!

I love this level... Especially the explorable elements with a dinghy, bieng able to enter the ship, and see the cabin houses... the only thing I don't like is when Tomb Raider makes you kill husky dogs... Shooting angry dobermans can somwhat be understood, but husky are plain domestic...

1:01:05 Maybe the goons were shooting at Lara because Dr. Willard's goal was to get the 4 artefacts from Lara. He has no interest in her, only the artefacts.

My partner and I watch the thing every year! Love that movie and these levels really remind me of it. Hope you guys did end up watching it!

This game's story is basically just a remake of Tomb Raider 96. Collecting alien artifacts, evil baddie wants forced human evolution, Lara saves the world.

It's so strange, I have absolutely no memories of this level either!

Fantastic level. 10 out of 10. The thing movie in here. Dying in the cold water is fantastic choice to add something extra to your thoughts. Many many people can play this level over and over and still not open that door in the hut. Its replay ability is 30 years long now and still counting.

We're getting to the end and I am going to miss this so much. Chris, you must play the remasters as soon as they come out, with Alfredo watching you.

Regarding Williards men attacking Lara. I mean obviously the answer is "video game needs things to shoot" however my head canon is: - Willard was just a regular scientist (and RX Tech a mining company). - They had no intention of any evil plans when they hired employees (It's not like a Bond villain where the henchmen knew what they were signing up for). - So after their job description changed drastically (from mining to mass-evolving humanity) and half of them were turning into monsters it's conceivable they are leading a mutiny and are attempting to kill Lara to stop her helping Willard.

loving this playthrough, I really appreciate that you let Alfredo experiment and don't back seat game him. Certainly feels more authentic of the original playthrough, I don't doubt some editing is involved but it's nice to see fresh eyes tackle those age old puzzles

0:40 its the first time that Lara wears something that seems to be more warm for a cold place, and even than...I would have weard a scarf or something like that, it must be freezing on her cleavage >.< this level is truly beautiful but also deadly, the water mechanic was really a cool idea :3 8:45 x'D you will hear this for months, thats for sure xD I don't understand, too why those people are attacking Lara ôo I mean it was our job to bring this artefacts to their Boss (or atleast to someone with a higher position) and than we get not pick up from Willard (okay we had an acciedent xD)and need to fight our way to him AND his mecenenarys don't have anything better to do, than shooting at us D: but yeah I guess there were not many options for animal enemies in this region .o. 15:00 Worker 1: okay I activate the mechanism, you go the door and keeps it open for us seriously...why is the switch timed?! xD this is perhaps the most tr2 level this game has, those gun enemies are strong and annoying as hell xD 29:40 D: well atleast alfredo felt bad the moment he said it q.q xD 36:50 I think Alfredo will find soon enemies, where he wants to use the rocket luncher x'D 40:00 haha...has the ps5 not a cloud save system or something like that? couldnt play ff16 so far D: hope we get a pc port :3 I got through tomb raider angel of darkness my lessons with not using only one save spot well time for new mutant enemies :D this dead mutant is really a small jump scare x.x okay next time we go into my most hated tomb raider 3 level...the mines .-. UFF was a cool video =)!

Always found this level a bit boring and tedious. Not that good for me. I was always glad when it was over. But I real!y enjoyed watching Alfredo play it. And now the RX Tech Mines await. A much more interesting level. Look forward to it.
