As always, beautiful work! What I enjoy so much is how you show every step of the process, and nothing is fast forwarded! 👍💪

Pintles and gudgeons are the funny name for the hinges ok the rudder of a sailboat. All us real wood boat repair guys have chainsaws, 2 guesses why, but you'll only need one, lol. Great channel keep it up.

The ported 026/ms260 that I built had moisture in the 026 case like that ended up using 1 case half from a ms260 but they were still usable after a bunch of cleaning and rocking strong. Can't wait to jump down the husky rabbit hole this fall/winter

It's pretty amazing what can get into an unused engine, especially one left outside or in an unheated building!

The 266s and 281/88s always looked more like a "big" 254 than a 262 to me. I obviously know squat compared to you brother Tinman, but just an observation. These teardowns are awesome man, learning a lot from your channel. I need to add one of these to the stable. I freaking live the 2-series Hooskies. Cheers!

I have two stock 181's and absolutely love running them. Not too heavy and plenty of power to bury a 28" bar in some wood. Curious to see what you can make of it.

Being Australian I've grown up knowing them as gudgeon pins, but after watching plenty of saw and bike building videos i started calling then wrist pins and got some confused looks from my mates hahaha. Personally i think wrist pin sounds better and is easier for lazy speakers like myself.

Take the governor plug out of the carb, put a small Welch plug in the hole, replace governor plug. Viola! You now have a non governed saw.

'Gudgeon pin' is older British usage. I'm older (how the hell did that happen?) and British (hooray!). 'Rockers' are the bits inside the top end of a four stroke that operate the valves off the pushrods or the camshafts. The bits on the lower outer extremities of a car bodywork are 'sills' (not rockers). Here in the UK we'd say that the two seized bearings on your saw are the 'main bearings' and you have a good 'big end' bearing and your main crankcase seals are 'shagged'. The gudgeon pin runs in the 'little end' bearing. Two nations (sorry to lump the US and Canada together) divided by an ocean and a common language. I think it's funny, but maybe I'm off my rocker.... I have a 181 with factory green cases and covers. Ex-army. Thanks for posting - good stuff.

Love my 181se, traded it for an oscillatin multi-tool and couldn't count the cords I've cut with it..(cause i can't count very high, to be clear) put a 24" on it (beast for nw ontario) and kind of want bigger.. looking forward to your next moves with it!

The smart money is on gudgeon pin. It makes us sound smarter. Your vids wouldn't be the same without crickets, maybe you need some chooks to help eradicate the noisy blighters. Could you and Willie do a collaboration on repairing old cases? That would be nice to see being that is the only way to save some of these old saws. Cheers

@@tinmanssaws hey tinman first off I absolutely love your videos and am so glad that I found your channel (thanks to buckin Billy Ray). The 2 of you are a perfect team as far as spreading positivity. I just resurrected a 1985 homelite sxl automatic. Last night I found a husky 181se with a 34 inch bar on it for 250.00 the saw looks great to be older (only normal wear and tear). The only thing is it fires up and idles but boggs when you hit the throttle. I know that could be a number of things. It has good compression I don't know numbers but the guy says it has a good strong pull to it like it always has. My question is if you could take the time would you let me know if it's worth it. To me the bar and good case and all is worth the money even if the saw was locked up tight. Once again I'd appreciate your input and really want to think you for all the motivation and decency you show the world bud

Nice! Quick question. I have a 2014 455 rancher and was wondering if i opened up the muffler a bit if it would help. Its my dropping saw with 24" bar and oregon chain. Its totally stock (for now). Works great but you know how it is. Always could be better. Lol

Tinman T-shirt ideas. "When in doubt, get them bearings out". Or... "Motoseal, i put the &hit on everything". Hey... does anyone own the rights to the word "TurdSaw" ? 😁

Big wood, big saw. Smaller wood, give me a smaller high revin saw. Big saws just take to long to rev up for a small cut.

I believe I saw an intake between the carb and cylinder, if that’s correct based on the rough finish needed for suspension of fuel, do you rough up it’s smooth surface?
