My Husky Rancher 455 stopped oiling the bar and I found out why and this is how to fix it .I also had to make a tool to remove the clutch and I show how I did it.
Do NOT use a air compressor to blow out the wood chips UNTIL you cover the oil ejection port to the chain bar.
I did not need new parts yet, but if you do, the links below will take you to the parts. The links are affiliate links, so if you purchase from them, I may make a few cents at NO Extra Cost to you.

Very informative. Long winded though. Could have been done in less than ten minutes. No spanner needed for clutch removal

I really like the easy-going talk as you progress thru your video. However, it was quite a bit out of focus because of being too close. The background was crystal clear. Maybe if you can work on that by changing to a macro lens or something like that it would help. I sure will be covering up my oil discharge the next time I clean up my saw!

I also flush my oil tank once a year with kerosene or old two cycle gas. Diesel also works. You can also use a little kerosene to thin down bar oil for use in cold weather. About a TBS per gallon.

that clutch is not on tight. with the cylinder locked up you just tap it with a straight screwdriver on one of those arms and it spins off

Too heavy? Too dangerous? I won't recommend the 395XP then! 😂😂😂 I love my 455 Rancher but you are correct as its not the best out there! I prefer the pro series, but it is great for what I do. However I will someday replace it with a professional XP series saw. I have learned a lot about maintaining these saws over the past few months and now they run better than ever now. My current line up is 2 Homelite XL-12, Echo 301-CS top handle trim saw, Husqvarna 455 Ramcher, and a Husqvarna 395XP. Thanks for sharing!

That is why I use a stiff brush to clean up my saws. They call it a glue brush at the builders supply. To get some spots I use an old paintbrush with some old two cycle on it. I do not have a problem removing the clutch from my Stihl saws. Just a 17mm socket and my impact wrench, turning CW. My friend uses a big pair of channel locks to remove the clutch on his Husky saws. I have the correct tool for the Husqvarna saws, which I use on my Husky saws

I am having the same issue. I clean the bar channel and take good care of if because I have s Windsor or something pretty expensive bar so I wanna make sure it last but it's been acting up. I clean the saw often after every use. I put bar oil and it wouldn't pump if but regular motor oil it will. This is good information however it would had been nice if you shortened it up a bit lol. Not trying to offend but would had been better if I didn't have to keep skipping you talk about random stuff you could had done or used that isn't important to video like spanner this and that lol

The yellow paint shows you where to put a screw driver to tap it off. It is so simple! You might want to look in a book before you make a video.

I have a old school rancher 55, that looks brand new, And runs like brand new. That i just bought at a flea market. So the bad, It's over oiling the chain, and leaking a huge amount of bar oil when siting. I looked at the oil pump and its non adjustable. Any suggestions thanks
@archersfriend
@archersfriend 5 лет назад
My Echo and the Rancher both will leak bar oil when the chips build up an move the oil deliver tube off the pump. If it is just over oiling when running, use a heaver oil. Over oiling is Much better than under oiling. Thanks for watching and commenting.

My 455 is my normal use saw and I go up to 575 xp for big logs. Ive been on that pattern for many years and now that I'm nearing 50 yo I'm looking for a smaller saw than the 455 as it's getting heavy and hard on my arms.
@archersfriend
@archersfriend 6 лет назад
That 455 is getting heavier each time I use it. I turned 71 a while back and I am fond of my Echo 400 saws. Liter and I can cut longer and a 5 year warranty instead of the short one on the Husky.

Thank YOU for taking time to publish this. I was able to make the tool to get the clutch off. I followed your procedure. Now I get some oil out of the port . But don't know if it's enough. With the bar OFF and revving , I see a drool of oil. Anybody tested with the bar off to see the amount of oil being pumped?
@archersfriend
@archersfriend 6 лет назад
It does not take a lot of oil to keep it oiled. There IS a setting screw for the oil flow. If you do not have the owner's manual you can download or look at one online. Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing.

Set a hard handle screw driver blade into the indentation next to the yellow mark on the flywheel, give it a short hard hammer blow on the screw driver and the fly wheel will come off.
@awalt26439
@awalt26439 4 года назад
That is exactly the way to go. Forget these useless ERGONOMIC soft handle screw drivers. A hard handle one, the right width to fit that indentation you pointed out will do the trick alright, none of this pissing around with pieces of rope or even worse buying a special tool to screw into the spark plug hole.

I've had my 455 Rancher for about 12 years. Almost zero problems. The only one I took to a shop for was poor oil flow to the chain. And then again yesterday, I noticed a decrease in oil flow. Thus your video. I took it apart and cleaned it up including the oil passage you pointed out. But I think what may have been the problem is there appears to be a passage in the bar that goes from the port on the saw to the teeth of the chain. One of those was plugged. Cleaned it up and will now see how it works (when the rain stops!).
