Worst HVAC job ever! This has got to be the worst hvac B vent flue pipe install through a roof that I have ever seen! This was not a DIY install, it was an HVAC company in the Kokomo area.

I’m not even gunna say the name I know who it was. We did a roof in Kokomo, got a call back about a year later for a leak, this is what we found on a brand new roof.

When I was an HVAC contractor we would temporarily seal the flashing down till our roofing contractor came out to seal it rightbut never used tar. Our temporary seal sometimes had to work a month or so but with the older roofing we let the professional roofer seal it. I can't believe they didn't use the Storm collar

I’ve got a feeling, why I have a tiny drip, that comes from my HVAC vent pipe… but lands in the emergency pan is from something juuuuuuusssstttt like…. This. 🤔 My saving grace is it’s in CA, which has a clause in the state constitution, ‘to dwell in a semi drought until we colonize Mars’. So I’m kind of safe, but I bet it’s a cousin to the installer on yours. 👍 Thanks for the video. 🙌👊

It may just be condensate, you may need to get it checked out to make sure it isnt dripping continuously on the drip pan, especially if its the water heater drip pan.

@@prod.cruzomg1782 evening, or morning. I do have an update and further info…. Our water heater is outside and tankless, the drip is from the condensation line, and that’s fine. The pan is an emergency back up, it does have a bit of rust, more like mineral rust, it’s not the pan, the old air vent, must have been hit when it’s piping was removed, and the boot is still there, and has a tiny drip when it is down pouring. I only found out when I was up there, and got a glimpse of a drop when I was near it and caught a glimpse of one…. And after hours doing what I was doing…. A tiny sliver of a puddle inside had added up with drips….. I’m taking g the boot out, it’s not needed and sealing the roof. But it would have been a mystery of it wasn’t for the pouring rain, and me adding another WiFi controlled attic fan. 😆🤔👍 All cleared. 👍

Turns out that our city inspector doesn’t go on roofs. So even with a permit, that may not have been caught. ‘Trust but verify’.

They should have! It was a brand new install from an hvac company. Doesn't look like they thought anything through.

No, I usually get it from United Refrigeration. I think it's Hart and coolly.

I assume you replaced the hardware then made a clean finish so it’s not noticeable?

No. We were called to give an estimate for a roof replacement. I noticed how bad this was, and did the video. After I was done and gone, I found out that it was an hvac company that did it the day before this video. If we end up getting the roof job, we will be switching it out with new pieces, including the one that was missed.
