Oh…and one more question. Does the SM480V detect what refrigerant is in the system? In other words…if an R22 unit was converted to 407C and you walk up on it unknowingly, will the gauges detect that particular refrigerant and tell you?
I just stumbled here (this video) and love the channel. Subscribed! I am a fairly new tech and looking at the SMAN480V, but I’ve got to ask: how does it know the target superheat? Currently I look at the rating plate (if available) and plug it into an app or use the old fashioned chart to determine.
I'm a home owner who is learning how to do HVAC. I purchased an SM480V and one JL3RH probe. My question is do I need two of these probes? My understanding is the dry bulb type K clip that comes with the SMAN is used for the outside condenser temp and then you use one JL3RH as a wet bulb on the return air vent. So why do you have two JL3RH probes? PS I will be checking my main home AC plus my garage mini split system with this gear. Any tips appreciated!
you better have a epa 608 because if you dont you can not even have gauges please dont try to work on your own equipment unless you have the knowledge to do so before you end up messing somthing up
@@LichaelMewis well if your just a DIYer and you installed a heat pump by yourself thats pretty impressive. I was under the impression you fixed your A/C with gauges and we all know gauges just lets you know the operating conditions.
I have been beating the hell out of mine for over a year literally hundreds of service calls. I don’t use the protective bag I just throw it in the back of the vehicle on top of the tools under the tools it gets treated like a football.
Not an HVAC guy here, so don't laugh. We have a 2yr old 5T goodman system and the readout (hot day 90F) on the SMAN was 105PSIG, 4.2 SH, 34.1 VSTAT, (R410coolant), 38.3 SLT, 89.9LLT 275.7PSIG on the right, 0.8 SC, 90.1LSAT. so, the tech who read that said those numbers are way off. could this have been because of the dirty filter? it was filthy! thanks
Yeah don’t do that 😂 I want these. I have the probes and I must have picked up a lemon bc they always have trouble connecting. How does the Bluetooth work in the SMAN? Is the distance decent
Your review would have much more credibility if you could bother to know what unit you actually have. It's also not a good advertisement for your work ethic if climbing into the van to look at your gauges is too much trouble.
