================================================
The MARS Series 903 switching relays are intended for many applications in air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating. Other uses include general purpose switching in appliances, fan controls, and vending machines. Our relays are available in 24, 110/120, and 208/240 coil voltages with various
combinations of power and pilot duty contacts.
903 series switching relay receives and controls electrical signals for general purpose applications. This switching relay has double pole double throw contacts and is suitable for use in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration applications, appliance vending machines, fan controls and business machines.
Relay switches (also called an electrical relay or an electrical relay switch) use a small amount of power to control a larger source of power connected to electrical devices such as car motors, computers, and lighting installations. A basic relay switch has a control circuit with an electromagnetic coil and a load circuit with contacts and a lever. When current flows into the relay switch, it moves through the coil and a magnetic field is created, which causes the lever in the load circuit to move between contacts, either turning the device on or off. In a normally open (NO) relay switch, when power is supplied to the relay, the load circuit is closed and the power source connected to the relay is turned on. In a normally closed (NC) relay switch, when power is supplied to the relay, the load circuit is open and the power source connected to the relay is turned off. In other types of relay switches, non-moving parts such as transistors or semiconductors can be used as the control circuit to operate the switching mechanism. Relay switches can be controlled with an external switch, such as a light switch, or they can be connected to an automatically switched power source, such as a car ignition. One relay can operate multiple switches, and multiple relays can be operated with a single switch, with each relay operating independently from the other relays in the system.

Many videos ago I remember saying you would make a great instructor. You've proven me right. Keep up the great vids Jumper. I'm not even in the HVAC business anymore (did it for 16 years) but I still watch your vids due to the high quality content.

A thing to point out…you read volts wire to wire on the relay because there is a load between them.

Thanks for this video! The simplified AC system representation on a board was a great help. When you get inside an actual AC unit, everything seems to be jumbled together and it's harder to understand what is going on. This helps a lot to understand what needs to happen for the system to work. Now I need to check and see if you have a video on how the capacitors work! Thanks again!

Hi. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with this. We recently added a booster fan to our HVAC system, and have it wired back to the furnace to kick on with the blower. We have it relayed with a 24v relay switch as you show here. Unfortunately for us, it is mounted on the floor joists directly below our family room and the relay switch “Pop” is incredibly loud when it opens and closes. Wondering if you know of any quiet relay switches that would work, or any tips on how we might be able to minimize the noise. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Depending the amp draw, you might try a solid state relay instead ... no clicking or popping noise I promise 😉

A relay and a contactor are just switches that open and close? Question bro, what do we use when we check resistance. Are we checking for shorts? Also when we get an ol, open line, is that again thing. Thank you for your knowledge.

Why does voltage go away when it gets energized confused on that part??
@andrewferber7480
@andrewferber7480 9 месяцев назад
1st, voltage measures a difference between two points. So, the voltage goes away (is equal between two points) because the electrical current moves through the circuit to the next load. I hope that helps.

Please replace that receptacle with a male cordcap, use a regular extension cord, and destroy the male/male cheater cord that I'm assuming you're currently using to supply power to the receptacle.
