HVAC TROUBLESHOOTING 

Buddy! I just did this exact troubleshoot. My search stopped at the phase monitor. Getting power. Tested by jumping y-in and y-out. Phase monitor getting 115. Thanks for helping. It was my first time on an intellipak.

Had this same issue today. My journeyman and I were thankful for you. Ended up being a bad fuse.

Worked on one of these Friday. Alarm was high pressure differential failure, ended up being bad temp sensors on both sides of evap coil. Was reading almost 200 😳 lol

Did you go to Trane schooling? How did you gather your knowledge? You are one tech that I've noticed who works on everything. Large equipment is my end goal chillers, mammoths, rtus large splits but no residential.

I recently had to replace on of those big transformers….very heavy!

I like your videos. If a 20 amp fuse blew, I would use the amp clamp to check the running current. I'm guessing an igniter or motor is off the same circuit since 20 amps are too much for just control. Then check the schematic for possible high current causes. Check for some circuit that pulls in under certain conditions.

Good video, but just remember all digital inputs are switches and no voltage there are either off or on. Based on Controller logic it knows if closed ok or trouble. Switches on inputs you cannot have voltage they blow stuff up.

I had a phase monitor fail on a unit that had been installed for 2 years. Went to PM the unit and it said out of phase. Swapped phase just to see and it still said out of phase. Replaced and the unit worked fine

I’ve worked on a ton of these. External stop is typically linked to fire. That fuse pops a ton because the duct detector has shorted to ground. I would have checked continuity to ground, or at least jumped between the circuit at tb 4 personally, but good job none the less.

Conclusion : -- "External" to the intellipak. -- Internal to the package unit. "External" supposed to be out of the package A//C as a whole.

External stop had to be an alarm tgat shut the unit down most likely

Alarm system or other (exterior to the actual package unit).

Trane schematics are some of the easiest to read.

Tranes got a bad habit of putting phase monitors in series with high pressure switches also on smaller units.
