Different style HW News! Pretty fun though, and a great way for us to get the last bit of show coverage up. We have 1 more product-related video from the show, then a bunch of discussions with other creators and engineers, the ASUS discussion, and the usual reviews coming up. Thanks for supporting us during our show coverage. Really fun this year and tons of great stuff coming out! I'm having a issue with Logitech warranty. They will not even start in RMA because they keep saying they can not read the receipt. I bought them off Amazon, so the receipt is on legal paper pdf. I have sent them in email 3 times and 1 with screenshot showing the receipt and all the others had the pdf attached. I don't know how to resolve the problem

nuvia-qualcomm tech is +400% vs zen4. thats why. but qualcomm gonna milk that performance price-performance matching to the rest of the market like every other coproration does to maximize profits. milking it to the max. they CAN potentially get aggressive but highly unlikely because competition drops prices.and intel is just emphasizing to investors that x86 is fine and there's no reason to switch to arm.

There's NOTHING ASUS could say that would give me trust in the brand for the near future. They tried to get away with scamming everyone, got caught, and are now trying to market their way out of it. Nice try, no cigar.

if only someone else could make a sub-500 x670e board with built in 10gbe that isnt from asus, and yet i'm still stuck with a prime x670e and just take really good care of it until i get funds for a new board.
@KeithZim
@KeithZim 15 дней назад
A friend bought a marketed "32 pipeline" SLI board many years ago. Asus was pushing this as the fastest board you could get. It was never stable. All users were having the same issues AFAIK. They sent us 3 replacments before telling us the feature we paid $200 over the price of other boards for was not going to work. Stop using it. No refunds..... They sold a feature that did not work and then refused to compensate the effected users.
@robmorgan1214
@robmorgan1214 15 дней назад
I'd accept. The board convened and fired everyone responsible, including the CEO and heads of every division that participated in the attempt to defraud their customers. We reached out to every customer affected and issued a full refund as well as stock options of equal value to demonstrate our desire to maintain a long term relationship with them. Asus wants your business and became a tech powerhouse because we LOVE this stuff, not merely the money we collect by making the best gear on the consumer market. We are hiring Louis Rossman to help us unfuck ourselves. It won't happen ever again.
@HanmaHeiro
@HanmaHeiro 15 дней назад
Even something like this? Asus: We will cover shipping costs to and from for RMA claims independent of findings, we will fully assess any issues in a 3 day time frame, and provide an itemized list of our findings giving customers options on what combination of services will be done within a 10 business days of customer response. We are increasing warranty coverage to accidental damage at no cost to customers. If repairs cannot be performed or internal costs are higher than the product value, a new or equivalent product will be provided to customers with all new accessories included.

@unknownuser069
@unknownuser069 15 дней назад
@@blessedafricarains6429 I don't think that is a solution. I think Adobe is stealing from users whenever they use the software as part of their Adobe cloud workflow, but also in the app itself. I think the only thing to do is go to another system that does not steal your work. Resolve for Video/Film/Audio/Effects/Color (free as in beer) Resolve Studio for professional/paid ($295 - included for freee with some BlackMagic hardware) Affinity for paid image compositing (photoshop) and design (illustrator) GIMP for Open Source image editing/compositing. (photoshop) (Sorry - I am not happy with any Open Source design apps ... but if you are reply with them!) This list is of course not exhaustive, and may not include your favorites, but the main point is ... AT THIS TIME I WOULD NOT USE ADOBE SOFTWARE ... NOT EVEN IF I WAS BEING PAID TO USE IT. Maybe if the terms of such work included compensation for ALL my work being a work for hire by Adobe, but they'd have to pay me solidly into the six figures annually and still I might hesitate.

I absolutely agree. Component side is already a standard. Just use the same standard pin layout on psu side!!!!! There would be no more "I used the wrong cable and fried my gpu!".
@offspringfan89
@offspringfan89 15 дней назад
Fully agree. Modular PSU cable is the worst product possible to use proprietary tech. It's not just a matter of inconvenience and cost, it's a matter of putting your _entire_ equipment at risk when the pinouts on the unit are incompatible with each other. I seldom advocate for regulation, but PSU cables are definitely something that should be standardised by law.
@conorstewart2214
@conorstewart2214 15 дней назад
Exactly, there is no technical reason they can’t all just use the same connectors and pinouts. The cables not being standard doesn’t benefit the company either, especially when they change the pinout between two revisions of the same product, which has caught some people out. They RMAd their PSU (apparently the company didn’t want them to send the cables with it) then when they received a replacement of what was supposed to be the same product, when they plugged in their old cables it fried things. So it isn’t even standard within the same product sometimes. It would be much better for consumers if they were just standard. My new PSU comes with one 4 SATA cable and two 2 SATA cables, so 8 total SATA connections which if plugging in a lot of drives plus the two for the case/fans only means 6 drives, if I could just buy more 4 SATA cables then that would be ideal (it would give the PSU 16 SATA connections) but that isn’t really easy to do just now with everything being non standard, so I will likely just have to use SATA power splitters.

I saw the handwriting on the wall awhile ago and dropped all Adobe products from consideration except the PDF reader. Now I wouldn't think so, but will Adobe claim all rights to anything I have if I use the reader? That may seem like a trivial question, but it might not be trivial at all. Not a fan of "you will own nothing and you will be happy". Adobe Inc is a US corporation, possibly subject to antitrust. Not a lawyer.

The modular streamdeck/hub thing is neat, but then there was this: 'there's no local storage' That, on it's own, totally kills it for a lot of people. Because it implies you need to leave an app open in the background or have a driver loaded with settings in RAM for it to function. That's not something people are going to find fun. Especially if coolermaster's software, like so many others, winds up a windows only software. Add in the price point, and it's really sketchy that they apparently don't have local storage for profiles and portability without leaning on an active software.

Screws for securing the 3.5" drives bays of the Be Quiet case make it a no-go, as you run into the same problem that is in the Define XL case: both panels must be removed to swap drives. I like the vertical GPU support in the small Thermaltake case, particularly for a case meant to be transported. Good point on the locking panels though, you really don't want it to fall apart as you're moving it around. And also a handle or at least somewhere you can safely lift it from without the panels coming off instead.

AMD discrete GPU sales are struggling against Nvidia also because home or office data science/ai workstations use gaming GPUs, since they are cost effective. And those GPUs are Nvidia since CUDA is still way better than AMDs ROCm simply because of its more wide spread integration into ai work environments. (speed wise they are very close these days!)
@sbdnsngdsnsns31312
@sbdnsngdsnsns31312 15 дней назад
ROCm is also inferior because it doesn’t have any equivalent to PTX and isn’t supported on many consumer GPUs. There’s a reason all the software is written for CUDA, and inertia is only part of it. AMD needs to get their head out of their ass, stop saying “no one needs that feature” and actually get ROCm to parity with CUDA.
@rstewart2702
@rstewart2702 15 дней назад
That’s my understanding: AMD has struggled with the software-development support when it comes to machine learning. Like it or not, Nvidia has a lead in “mind share” with CUDA, in spite of it being a proprietary, Nvidia-specific technology. Reminiscent of IBM’s stranglehold on all of computing in the USA during the 50’s and 60’s…

Also nvidia do GT-710's, which are cheap passive single-slot board-powered devices capable of providing extra monitors. The problem I see with Intel being successful in the GPU market is that it only hurts AMD's GPU efforts, doesn't so much as warrant a glance from Nvidia. Nvidia is the company that needs someone to breathe down their necks a while. However, Intel should be worried about EVERY other PC chip producer out there right now...their refresh of a refresh of a refresh where how much power they guzzle being the only notable differences is going to kill them if they don't get their heads out of their asses SOON. Brand recognition will keep them afloat for a while, fanbois will fanboi...til they realize what they bought is actual crap.

After having used Nvidia cards since time immemorial , when I built my last rig I opted for AMD [Sapphire 7900XTX Nitro+] and worried I'd have buyer's remorse but ended up loving it. Oh and as a bit of a bonus, while I can't say my 7900XTX is a "golden sample," it's nevertheless very good silicon. As an aside about that build, I never thought I'd have buyer's remorse over my 14900K but ended up regretting it, and believed I may regret the AMD gpu but ended up loving it. I had it all ass backwards, lol. What a weird build. :)

My experience is somewhat similar. I used to always buy Nvidia, but was annoyed with Nvidia during my upgrade this past year, so for the first time ever I went with AMD and bought a 7800 XT to pair with an Intel 13600KF. I wasn't sure if I would have any regrets with the 7800 XT, but I don't, I'm really happy with it. Hopefully AMD Radeon bounces back in another year or so; would love to see them come back and be more competitive for at least a generation. I was upgrading from i5-4690K and a GTX 1060, and from 1080p 60hz monitor to 1440p 144hz.

@@marathonman96 I'll most def give them more attention than I gave them this time around. I was seriously considering the 7950X3D, for in many titles it performed better than the 14900K, but I do a bit more on my rig than gaming like messing around with video, managing large libraries of BlueRay and music files, moving huge folders, and I multitask like I have more arms than an octopus! I knew the 14900K ran hot and whatnot, but I figured a 360mm aoi would set me straight and it mostly did, but after a couple of months, and with no overclocking or other abuse, my chip started hitting me with BSOD; this was juuuust before all the news started to hit about these chips degrading. I got caught up in that mess /cry. Anyhow, I RMA'd the chip, it went smoothly, and got a new one and shortly after that we got news of the new "Intel Defaults" which resulted in performance reduction. Feels like I got hit by a bait and switch because, well, I did. 14900K runs well now and I feel safe with it... I can keep the rig running for days with tons of gaming and work and all numbers look fine, but man how I wish i got that 7950X3D. Next build I'll be more careful and shop a bit more carefully, that's for sure. I'm telling you, I got some extra $$$, my eyes glazed over, and I was just like, as Steve teases people, "Bigger number better" lol, silly me. :/ ... that got long, sorries.

Nitro XTX in particular is extra special, the vbios it comes with (like all nitros in history at this point) has the card blow right past the RTX 4090 450W power draw while still missing a chunk of performance and unable to RT unless its ultra light loads like fortnites lumen "but at least its cheaper". I too cannot understand why AMD market share is in the gutter.
@Moboproc
@Moboproc 15 дней назад
@@joeallen7781 From a personal PoV I think part of the reason, just part of it, and not necessarily the biggest part, but part of the reason is marketing and a lot of folks in the PC/gaming community wanting to go along with the Joneses. I'll stick my neck out there and admit that's part of the reason why I was just so skeptical of AMD at first. You hear so much how AMD cards play second fiddle to Nvidia's, they are not as leet, long standing beliefs among many of driver issues, ray tracing inferiority, and by having one you're somehow poor with your 2nd place budget rig card (OMG I can't believe I am admitting this, LOL). I was like "I want people who I'll never meet to know I have the best graphics card EVER. Nvidia #1!" then I looked at myself like, "Girl, stop being a damn tool." I'm not a particularly extraordinary, so I know others think along the same lines. That probably has something to do with it... among a host of other more complex things. Also, for a while Nvidia was indeed a lot better than AMD, so a lot of gamers had green team cards for their last few builds, and I think a lot of brand loyalty, tribalistic type of sunk cost behavior set in with folks as well.

I would say AMD is struggling first of all because because they struggled to close the gap for first of all ray tracing and then for FSR. However I'd say this is not necessarily the main problem. I believe that many people (and I'd agree with that) think that AMD's prices are not competitive enough. Nvidia made GPU prohibitively expensive and AMD followed suit, but contrary to Nvidia they don't have the tech to justify it. I believe if your price fits, no cares if your competitor is 10% better, if your product is 20% cheaper. However for AMD the price doesn't really seem to do that.

I do not understand why amd gpu market share is a surprise unless people decided to create and live in their own alternate reality. AMD gpu market share has always been minimal. In a bad years nvidia held about 75% of the gpu market. and in normal circumstances sits between 85 and 90%. That is it , it has been it for almost 10 years now. It is unlikely to change due to amd efforts since it has become plain obvious that amd is not able to stretch itself in both the cpu and gpu segments. Maybe - doubtful but - Intel brings something good at a discount price in order to try to carve it 's own space and can shake things a bit, and even then it will just a bit.
@peterwstacey
@peterwstacey 15 дней назад
Indeed - AMD has enough free capital to purchase X amount of wafer allocation. The only thing it can do is choose where to allocate those resources. It has to honour the console contracts, and everything else is either Ryzen or Epyc, since those bring in the most profit per mm^2. The problem they have is that they have hit an upper limit in the Enthusiast space, there is nowhere really for them to grow there unless the market itself grows. They are now trying to grow in the server space, and if that works, then they will go for the mobile or OEM space. After that, they MAY try to grow the GPU division. Until then, GPUs are a placeholder for future growth.

Regarding Nvidia, I can reflect on what I've observed over the past two decades. When Nvidia released CUDA, everything changed. To this day, nobody has been able to compete with CUDA, which has become the industry standard for all professionals. Nvidia's success is due to their innovative technology, often seen as almost alien, and the inability of other companies to compete. Nvidia's current dominance is a result of their own efforts and advancements in AI and other aspects. However, if Nvidia engages in illegal activities, they should be held accountable. But if they are being targeted simply because they have become so big, remember that the fault lies with those unable to compete with Nvidia, not with Nvidia itself. They should be praised for releasing a technology that has remained unrivaled for nearly 20 years.
