My hw80 is over 35 years old and still going strong although the barrel on my gun it very pellet fussy , it prefers a longer body style pellet .When i bought it i wanted a 77 but couldn't afford it because it was Almost a weeks wage more but I have no regrets with the 80 it shoots way more accurate than I will ever be . As long as you give good regular maintenance any of the hw's will last a lifetime.
I agree with you about not wanting a tune kit in it. For what the HWs cost from the gun shops i feel that you shouldnt have to put a kit and extra money in them and if you do decide to go with a tuning kit wait a while before doing so. I see so many videos of guys buying a HW spring gun and not even shooting it and buying a Vortex kit and putting it in a brand new gun.
You have it resting on the balance point on the bag, thats what i do. Touching your shoulder. Works great! Good harmonics happen that way. I get it. So much fun!
Those dogs will definetely hunt. You've got a great public set up there...fishing and shooting all in one, absolutely beautiful. Any chance you can set the camera up on your left side so we can see your trigger pull technique on a future video? Enjoy the rest of the evening and weekend, and also some fresh catfish. HE makes it all good for sure.
Thank you so much. Being right handed is a little tough because the camera would be at my back during filming, but I will try to remember to show the trigger pull next time. I know that I shared this in other videos, I just can't remember which one. Thank God, He is good 👍.
Try diana 34 classic 30 yards. I have diana 34 and 30 yard 1 inch group is not possible without extra rest. I changed pad and still my heart moving my ceosshairs and when i shot my heart pull the shot. But uf i have sweater or hood it is good. In my opinion diana 34 is light weight.
Many people will disagree with you about the Diana 34. I have two Diana 34's 177 and 22, that are very accurate. I have a shot dime-sized groups out to 25 yards. Not trying to sound mean, but when our heartbeat, or our own shooting imperfections are causing the problems, we cannot blame the rifle. That being said. My hw95 is easier to shoot more accurately than my Diana 34's. I have found that using a firmer grip on the pistol grip has helped improved shot groups.
@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 i agree it is very accurate but it is light and then the recoil is stronger and my heart pumping pull the shot. If i shot with jacket or hoody it is accurate because the heart didnt pull the shot.
7:20 if this is not artillery hold I dont know what it is ! Haha I did not try to shoot with the rifle rested on the bag for a long time especially so close to the trigger I might try this! But I usually prefer resting my hand on the bag so I can do about the same hand position while standing The hw77 group was pretty good! Nice job buddy
Nice shooting like always.... Lovely location too!!! Been too busy with work and family go out shooting... Hopefully next week! That 77 really seams to be settling in.. Doesn't appear to "twang "as much. Best regards!
You probly know this but the pellet for hw80 Needs to be a .556 I think, and you should always stand when shooting those things. Or else you aren’t getting any practice in.
@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 I found the hw77k too front heavy, I shoot while standing up and the nose would drop down it was too heavy. The hw80 feels more lighter. Need to hit the gym
The scope I was using is very affordable and is working great on the HW77. I would not recommend the scope for a violent gas ram like the Gamo Magnum or Gamo Whisper Fusion Mach 1. Magnum gas rams are scope eaters.
Hawke vantage s are tested to .50 bmg ive got x3 on x3 hw80k and x1 on a hw 95k they can cope no worries 👍 grand shooting great video cheers from blighty 😅🤣💥💥💯💯👍👍
Hey Chuck, Thanks for this video on the HW77 and HW80. You actually don't absolutely need to use the artillery hold if you have another way to gently allow the spring coil system to recoil in a linear direction backwards and forwards as opposed to backwards, forwards, and side to side. That way the pellet has a better chance of exiting the barrel before the gun moves erratically. It's just a suggestion to new shooters. I suppose your airguns are less inclined to have the side to side recoil because of the mountain dew coil sleeve guide you put in it too. The artillery hold is a technique that Tom Gaylord, Rick Eutsler, Jim Chapman, Tyler Patner, and some of the guys at Pyramyd Air recommend. It works for me too when I shoot off hand but I also just rest on an old rag or on a bag like you, or hold the stock lightly when using my bipod. Your USMC rifle experience/skills are better suited for powder burners and is more suited for co² or PCP's where there is only a rearward recoil. Also, it doesn't make that much of a difference with gas ram piston systems, just metal spring coil systems. And for people who haven't adjusted their triggers to lighten the trigger pull, they need to be aware that the lighter the trigger pull, the more accurate the shot due to a quicker, cleaner "break." Hope this helps someone. Thanks again. Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.
Actually when I held the HW77 a little more firm, my shot groups tightened up. Lately I have been trying to put my hand between the bag or whatever surface I have been shooting off of, because the poi is quite a bit sometimes, going from bag to off hand. Some things are different that a power burner but something's are the same. For the gas ram, I disagree, the artillery hold is very useful.
@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611Hey Chuck, Thanks for your prompt reply. I have not tried to grip the airguns tighter for tighter groups. I'll try that. Thanks for the tip. As far as the gas ram piston system goes, I will try artillery hold on a regular basis for a while and see how much my groups tighten up. I've been limiting my shots to closer range due to my eyesight getting worse and my scopes crapping out, so I only use iron sights now. I have some older model Gamos, all metal spring coil airguns. But when I get my new scopes I will try shooting beyond 20 to 30 yards. I only have one Gamo with a gas piston system right now, and it actually belongs to my son, so I won't be using it so often. My two Silent Cats in .22 and my Varmint .177 didn't seem like very harsh recoiling airguns, but I find that the point of impact was shifting so much initially because the scope mounts would walk back. After I remounted and tightened the screws, I found that the scopes were not holding zero after a few shots. Any suggestions? The Varmint doesn't come with open sights, but it was easy enough to just glue a bb to the front as a bead sight, like my Viper Express. Thanks again. Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.
@@kenfan5666 The BB idea is good, lol. I have had good luck with Leapers, Hawke Air Max and Hammers scopes. Although I did have a Hammers die on my Gamo Whisper Fusion Mach 1 22. The Super Magnum gas ram rifles that are getting in the 20 FPE range and above are very dangerous for air rifle scopes. I have the Varmint too and for a rifle that is not extremely powerful, has quite a bit of kick. I was thinking about clipping a coil or two to see if that would smooth things out with enough energy to take care of pest or small game.
@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 Great videos. I have the 30,50,95 and just sold the 90 and probably going to get the 77K. Looks like it checks off all the boxes. The 90 was way to heavy to cock, inaccurate and the comb was too high to properly use iron sights.
I will take trillion's thumb's 👎 for one thumb 👍 up from Jesus! Gav, when you take your last breath 🫁 and awake in the lake of fire 🔥 you will live with regret that you did not repent and turn to Jesus Christ. Remember Gav, there is no second chances after this life.
The twanging doesn't really bother me but I think once I get a shim guide in, it reduce vibration, which will help with accuracy, and they are already very accurate.
