Hydroxyurea for Sickle Cell Anemia 

Wow!!! I just briefly read part of the research yesterday on the NEJM website. Thank you tremendously for this video. I will like it as well as share it with my colleagues.

We need to have standardized practice protocols for management of sickle cell anemia in sub saharan African countries like Uganda. Currently there's none. Health workers still don't know when to use this wonderful drug.

I get the feeling the industry doesn't like it when something cheap works too well. The improvement was shown here on log tables, in fact improvement was an order of magnitude. In reality, results would probably be even better given it's unlikely there was proper adherence (take daily pills for a year, by kids, with no way to see if it makes a difference because the effect is months out)
