Ugh!I absolutely love your videos. It would be so lovely if you could make a comprehensive series for cardiovascular and respiratory medicine. Anyway, thanks for your hard work. It’s truly appreciated
The best of the best. I watched a lot of helpful channels but your channel is different! Not only helpful but enjoyable. Thank you very much for your amazing work!
in sickle cell test Dithionite can also be used but sickle cell test can't differentiate between homozygous & heterozygous state so Hb electrophoresis is used..... but for any Hemoglobinopathy High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is best.
for osteomielitis, S.Aureus is the most common organsim, but in sickle cell anemia, Salmonella becomes number one due to the inability of the spleen to do its job due to the functional asplenia. So your more prone to encapsulated organisms like salmonella.. But im not sure, i could be wrong.
Thank you but why you divided case of Vein and artery ?. this confused me . you mentioned that sickling occurs only in ( acidosis /hypoxia etc) but the vein and artry case this mean patient is suffering of sickling all the time due to deoxy Hb in vein . im confused can you explain?
Do you have much information with HbSF, people with persistently high fetal hemagobin, and the genetic process that caused my mutation? I'm a rarity, and I've never heard a good explanation of it.
Please do you mean that one should use vaccination and antibiotic together for a child with the sickle cell? Or one should use antibiotics or vaccination.
Both. But it depends on the issue, and depends on whether or not splenectomy is going to be performed, and many other things. Only a doctor can help you with that, because I am not a doctor.
When I was born in the mid 80s no one tested for it. I wasn't diagnosed until i caught mono when i was about 5 or 6. In my state they test everyone at birth.
This is really great but like I thought prenatal they couldn't be diagnosed because their haemoglobin is HbF and they have gamma chains instead of beta chains
