After seeing jonghyun suicide its really heartbreaking to see again one more suicide but its good that she got saved. I feel bad for yeon sobin i mean his bullying was proved untrue so jyp should take him back. His drinking and smoking is true but that can be resolved. At such young age being centre of negativity is really harmful for mental health of teenage boy. The claims are 'anonymous' and 'alleged' but the consequenses are permanent.

Sad that people only think twice about boycotts and "innocent" staff when idols are involved. There's been plenty of boycott bandwagons people have supported (rightfully so) that they didn't have such debate about. But the truth is, people have much more emotional attachment to an idol than they do a driver, hotel staff, etc. As for me: boycott. This isn't just one incident. There's a whole history of YG's illegal dealings and awful practices against women.

Question for you guys. If people followed Danny's idea of boycotting YG by not supporting their artists/products, at what point would YG be in breach of contract with them and thereby allow the groups to leave without penalty.. Is this a possibility? if that were the case, then by not supporting YG, you would actually be supporting their artist's self determination. Baseline, if an agency can fire you for non compliance, can you also fire an agency for the same thing without penalty or do the rules only work one way?

David you're so optimistic about the justice system bringing people to justice. That seems a little naive to me man. Especially given how strongly money and connections seem to talk in Korea... I'm with Danny on the boycott issue. Some times if you want change to happen you have to use the leverage you have to change the system not just hope that it will work the way it's supposed to. It sucks for the artists but they need to take a stand too if their company is doing bad shit. I'd support them individually if they started a Patreon... ;-)

It doesn't devalue the situation of bullying but it makes it harder to believe the victim bc they waited so long. So it's not the best thing to do to wait that long. Specially if you don't have many prooves :/ I think people should encourage others to talk as soon as possible and not wait a long time. Tbh I don’t know how to feel about boycotting YG. I may not be a stan of any of his artists but I do feel bad for them. They aren’t at fault but they are getting dragged into it. But it’s how it is Cos if you consume YG artists music, you practically giving money to YG. And it’s not like they can leave the company. Their contract gotta expire before they leave. Also this company has the most artists with controversies especially drugs. I’ve always side eyed this company so when the news came out, wasn’t surprised at all. 2019 is really gonna go down as the messiest, Dirty, scandalous, controversial and a bad year for Kpop.

21:33 I have to agree with Danny on this one. As much as I enjoy Kpop, it's impossible not to admit that the industry's main goal is to make money. I think fans should be careful before falling into what I call 'the pit of consumerism'. Sure, you're somewhat supporting the artists but the money eventually goes to the company and CEO. If we are the ones paying for the content (because we technically are), our standards should be high. Being critique of the way the industry works can help fix issues that already exist within it. So let's think about what the companies stand for before blindly buying everything and anything they produce... [⚠️ these are just my thoughts on this topic pls don't attack me :( ]

The investor that YG met in 2014 is JHO LOW, he is well known for taking MALAYSIA PUBLIC FUND, and run , he is now is running away from malaysia because of the arrest warrant from the government of malaysia. He took billions of malaysian public fund money and making friends with all the wealthy and popular people like kim kardashian and his best friend paris hilton, who had cancelled the CL show today. So if he invested, that money most probably coming from really bad resources.

Danny is speaking the truth. A lot of stuff goes down in business. It's good that all of it is coming to light and maybe people will have good business practices in the future. Or they will Bury themselves deeper so people won't know. It's quite similar to the me too movement in Hollywood.

The thing about "boycott YG, not the artists" The two are kinda connected. No group earns 100% because the company itself does a lot of work behind the scenes. Everyone in the company works hard for that paycheck. Naturally some is going to go back to YG and others who lack morals. It's the fans who have a big hand in funding them. (I'm sure they get money through other means as well but to say fans don't give them money at all would be wrong.) You cannot boycott YG without boycotting the artists. Even if you do, it would be ineffective and they know that. No one wants to. The artists certainly are not to blame for this. Unfortunately, reality isn't like that and it's probably the only thing you can do to bring the change you want whether it's to bring YG down or to try to protect your faves. (keep in mind that this isn't a kpop exclusive thing, people in the government itself is corrupt and this is all common practice. The people in korea can't really do anything about it without getting fucked over though. But against an entertainment company, they at least have a chance.) Honestly this kinda feels like a hostage situation. They have contracts and bonds with people there so they can't just up and go like many hope. Even if they do leave, chances of another company wanting them is low and chances of them remaining as BP/Ikon/whatever is basically zero since YGE kinda owns that. This is just so complicated, it's ridiculous. Best of luck to YGE artists and their fans. I never cared about YG himself especially after I heard him speak about his "love story" so this has nothing to do with me. It's just my opinion that you don't have to agree with.

I was very suicidal and very depressed when I was younger but never had the guts to actually do it and I forcefully got helped and got out of the toxic environment that mainly caused my problem, just before it was too late I really hope that Goo Hara is ok and gets the love and treatment she deserves and that she realises that the world is loving and caring as long as you seek for it (I don't know how to word it otherwise) Don't wish anyone death, enjoy life and try to see things positively and search love from your close friends and care for them in return

I agree with the YGE boycott and honestly angry that it's come to this point. It always takes a damn controversy for YGE to give their artists promotion, but I refuse to actively support them as I normally would. I love WINNER, iKON, Lee Hi, and AKMU. I know it's none of the artists fault, but they're the income of the label and me buying their stuff only supports the corrupt higher ups. It's the sad reality of any industry. People are saying that the artists and workers don't deserve the backlash that would come with a boycott. But when this is over, I'd rather them go to another company that doesn't have a board that supports corrupt acts (because YG and his brother still having their position tells you about the rest of them).

I have been thinking about the debate from last DK news about whether people should support YG artists or not. I really enjoyed your arguments. They were thoughtful and well argued. But after thinking on them myself I realized that one complication of boycotting the company is that the artists that work there are under contract and cannot leave. If people decided to boycott Apple products then people working for Apple can quit and get a new job. But the artists with contracts at YG cannot do that. They will have to complete their contract or terminate it at their own detriment. They will have to sink with the ship, and that is a heartbreaking proposition for the musicians who have done nothing wrong except for sign with YG. On the other hand, it is difficult that fans have had their power removed if they are afraid to boycott YG. YG probably deserves to be boycotted and suffer some financial losses, but it will affect the other artists there too and that is unfair. It is like he will hold your favs at ransom so he can keep doing whatever he wants.

Thing with depression is that I get what you guys are saying, but when the moment hits the temptation comes in waves. I was bullied in middle school and that was in 2004-2008. I'm still living in hell when certain events trigger my memories, it really screwed up my life. If those people ever get famous, I will definitely drag them down.

I once try stand up for someone who getting bullied and it's exactly like in the movie where the victim said it was nothing and affraid to ask for help. It's hard to help someone who already in that state.
