as a person who tested both of em [my prefer is AlphaS] he's totally right. in short. for a clearer and immensive sound quality, go for Gpro it's better in that way. in term of the dimention and precision, like how far between you and your opponent or the sound of wind blowing closer or farther something like that, go for HyperX, turn on 7.1 then you're good to go. imo the quality of sound is important I can't deny it. however, for my taste I can adjust sounds to the way I like with equalizer softwares but those softwares can't change the dynamic of the sound dimention, both of em are great but I chose HyperX due to my personal purpose and I know how to compensate for what its lacking. after tuning for a bit the result is satisfied...
i needed this, thank you so much techne, you have stinkin made my year. forgot to say, i love how you have partiotioned your videos it helps for rewatching
Had the logitech ones I could definitely hear footsteps an what not but sometimes the sound of the enemy wasn't accurate. The alpha s volume isn't as loud as the logitech but the sound of footsteps and where the enemies r coming from is more accurate on the alpha s in my opinion.
Dude, I'm having a problem with my one. When I plug on the mixer, by the USB, the quality change a lot. It looks like my Stinger is way better than Alpha S.
Hey techne could you plz make a video for Logitech g pro x and hyperx cloud 2 Plz I m not sure hitch one to buy and their are not much reviews on yet and plus I like how you explain
Thank you for notifying on the Blue voice! It's such a garbage basically you can replicate the effects with third party software and it's still a cheap gaming headphone microphone on both. The regular G PRO's worth the money much more.
Oh well, I was very convinced to buy a HyperX Alpha or Alpha S after 3 weeks of researching until I saw your video, then I decided to grab a Logitech G Pro X because sound quality for music is everything to me. I own an AudioTechnika M40x and when you compared it to an M50x I was sold, if any gaming headset in this price range can get at least close to my M40x that's already more than I could wish for. However, this is NOT EVEN CLOSE. I had a HyperX Cloud Stinger before which is not the best to say at least, but even that was sounding a lot better. On the G Pro the highs are very crisp and top notch clean, I can totally agree with that, the mids are okay, but the bass literally doesn't exist, even with the equalizer set to enhance the bass. I have to listen very carefully to notice the bass guitar playing. I can even hear a lot of distortion in the bass range (without equalizer too) that drives me crazy. The cups don't seal around my ears because they can't move sideways even a little bit, and btw the microphone is not working at all. The PC recognizes it but it doesn't capture anything, and as I see it's a very common issue with brand new G Pros. I spent hours trying to get the software fixed but I still couldn't. I'm going to return it asap and grab my Cloud Alpha instead, and enjoy that sweet bass. I haven't used one before but it's the big-big brother of the Cloud Stinger, and Cloud Stinger is already better than this. I wouldn't recommend buying a G Pro over that, well at least not if you like to enjoy high quality music with your headset too.
@@pdrseverance I ended up buying a Sennheiser GSP 500 because the clamping force was too high for me on the G Pro and I was told the Cloud Alpha is similarly built. This one was double the price and I'm not sure it was worth it but the sound is the cleanest I ever experienced.
Just bought Logitech G Pro. Big dissapointment. They just boosted bass everywhere. Cant hear ANY footsteps at all. (Rainbow Six Siege) I tried everything, all the EQ variations, and made lots of custom EQ too, they ALL failed so bad. 7.1 ?? One of the worst i've ever heard. I have usin my cheap Frisby Gamemax headset, and can hear everything much more better with them. And when it comes to streaming, all my viewers said my cheap headsets microphone is way more better than Logitech G Pro's mic. Again, i tried everything, all the EQ stuff, custom ones, they all sound robotic. Nothing natural. Overall, it's a huge failure. Cheap ones 7.1 surround is way better, and the mic is way better and natural too. In the end, i'm returning this Logitech as soon as possible, and will try HyperX Alpha S. Thanks for the review by the way, keep up the good work! Good Luck!
First off, I know everyone has their personal opinion so I don't want to make it sound that bad but, I am not really sure why so much love for the logitech. I had them for exactly 2 days, continuous gaming and music, just to return them the third day. They sound awful, blunt, footsteps are muffled in most of the games I've played (apex, rainbow six, csgo, valorant), even with the "pro" EQ settings, or even with mines, and I do know how to tweak and EQ. I had cloud 2 for my daily driver for the past 2 years and I don't understand why so many people are marketing these nowadays because they are a steal for what they offer. I feel like most of the people that pick logitech over any hyperx are pretty much doing it because they never had the chance of listening to a better quality headset. I am a competitive FPS player in every shooter game I play and these headsets were for sure not helping at all. The software is cheap, sometimes it doesn't understand that I selected one general profile for EVERY game I play and switches back to game's related EQ settings instead of keeping mines. Having a soundcard with internal memory should LET you save a filter that works without the app in the background. The EQ ranges are quiet few for low-highs. Now again, this is just my opinion, but if you are looking for great directional sound in games, do not attempt to purchase any marketed headset with 7.1 for extra bucks. That thing is not helping at all in games and logitech keeps promoting it like it's the future of audio in games. A good stereo headset will do the job, with an impedance of 50-60 and better range than 20-20k. Keep up the good work, I love your content.
Thanks for coming up speaking the truth. I haven't used any headset in my life. Now I'm looking for one to play apex legends. Would you recommend hyperx alpha s?
Techne, YOU ARE THE BEST. We love you man. Your enthusiasm and passion. Been watching for a while now and your visual quality has always been great but seems to be shining more. Great stuff man. BTW, This is the exact shootout I was looking for. The only thing that catching me up on both of these is I like the volume rocker on the headset itself. Thank you, T!
man i dont need to watch reviews of headphones since i already got hyperx alpha i just watch reviews for the sake to watch this dudee soo entertainingg keeep uppp!!!!
After owning both headsets I would actually recommend the alpha s The g pro does have better sound, but I think the alpha s wins out in almost every other respect; the g pro takes a lot of fiddling in the desktop app to get it to sound right, and I also had several technical issues after just about a week or two of use. On the flip side, the alpha s was pretty much plug and play. Minimal fiddling, maximum enjoyment. It is also worth mentioning that, imo, the alpha s has the best implementation of virtual 7.1 surround sound I’ve heard in a headset; like I actually use it pretty often. *one last note; I’m the type that hugely prefers fabric ear pads to leather, so the the alpha s including them in the box was a definite plus
@@AverageMemer the biggest issue was that the sound balance would get thrown off every now and then (sound would be way louder in one ear than the other). I had to call support to fix the issue both times. I don’t remember what other issues I had beyond general fiddling.
@@TheTechne Hello Techne,i just have a question: will Logitech G PRO will sound better without their USB dongle? I ask this because i have an already very good external DAC/AMP like iFi ZEN and i want to connect these cans to 3,5 mm out from the dac. Oh,and i just sold my Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 ohm because the tremendous amount of high frequency that almost hurt my eardrums... If not G PRO will sound better from 3,5 mm ZEN DAC out,can you tell me if Audio Technica ATH AD500X is better in multiplayer games like COD Warzone and BF5? Thank you very much and i just subscribed!
I order the alpha s because the logitech g pro is more expensive, the alpha s costs 156990$Ars(115,8 dollars, 1 dollar = 1355 argentinian pesos) and the logitech g pro costs 179730$Ars(128 dollars, 1 dollar = 1355)
Will equalizers transfer to ps4 from the software for the usb dac for the Logitech pro x? Also, will the alpha sound better on PS4 when connected to the usb sound card?
For the love of god - STOP emphasizing the frequency range - 27.000 Hz is INAUDIBLE to human ears!!!!!!!!!!! Even 20.000 Hz won't be audible to 90% of people... Don't be victims to cheap marketing
I've already ordered Aplha S blacked out edition I will use them with headphone amp and I think Alpha S will work great when they'll get full 65 ohms. Whay u say?
Dude everything beyond 20khz is something the human ear cannot hear.. Only very young humans below the age of 16, and after that each year the range will go down. You forgot the talk about the Blue voice on Logitech G pro X. The mic is way better then the alpha S
Bro i used both..to be honest g pro sounded tiny to me..highs were too much.. not much full sound... alpha is okay..but the best one is hyperx revolver..i don't know why people not going for it..it has the best sound stage ever.. have ample amount of bass...not just for gaming but for every aspect it's the best..i got it for same price around alpha s.. it's the best just for it u won't regret it..i played codm wc with it.. didn't disappoint me
hey, i just saw your channel, you review very well, you have also reviewed steelseries arctis 5, Logitech G pro and hyperX Cloud alpha S, but i need help to choose which one is better than your opinion, logitech G pro or hyperX cloud alpha S or Steelseries Arctis 5 ? I use it for PC gaming, music and video editing
Amazing video bro! I have the alpha (not S) for a year now and they are so good, but is it worth for me to upgrade to any of these 2 and get the 7.1 to improve sound/step on shooting games??
Hey man, you mention using ath-M50 as well. Does balanced/flat sound of ath M50s help with gaming. Would you recommend purchasing studio headphones and using those with Dolby maybe. Would that be better or should I just go for G Pro Wireless instead.
Do you have to play on PC to take advantage of the LogiTech customisable software or can you just customise them on a laptop and use them on PlayStation...?
@@TheTechne hello and how is your day or night so far? I have a question. do both the cloud alpha and alpha s have the same 3.5mm connection that plugs into the headsets? in another words are you able to use the original cloud alpha 3.5mm cord with the mute switch with the alpha s so I could mute my mic when chatting with friends? If so I am going to buy the alpha s.
When you said there's something that makes the Logitech g pro x shine compared to the HyperX cloud alpha, I think it's the USB DAC. I compared with and without and there is definitely some EQ difference and sound cleanup compared to the standard iMac 3.5mm. Also when using some earphones in the DAC, they sound slightly different so I think there may be some sound enhancements in the DAC
Just started looking for a new headset as I have been using my PX51s for years now and they still work great but I wanted something strictly wired so I just ordered the GPro X now just waiting for delivery! Thanks for the review, love the enthusiasm!
Its a great headset but DO NOT order it!! The earcup hings will break 100%. I had 3 of them in a 2 year span and they all had the same problem.. you can also google it :(
Hey Techne, need your help. G pro costs $120 here in Singapore while G pro for $180. Does the $60 difference worth for the extra goodies, cloth ear pads, 7.1 and blue mic? Looking to get the best bang for the buck and my monies worth. Definitely appreciate your reply.
got a g pro wireless and wasn't impressed the hyper revolver sounded better and more immersive. a shame I returned them as they where uncomfortable bc the headband problem... so now looking to the alpha s as an alternative 😅
You mentioned that the hyper x felt like it was missing something, and that you wanted to make sure that they were both using the same software and stuff. I used the hyper x for a while and didn't think twice about anything, then on my samsung phone I activated Dolby atmos, and on my laptop I used the audio software, Maxx audio or something. And the difference was huge. So I suspect that the Logitech probably has a lot more inbuilt software and compensation than the hyper x. This makes sence since Logitech is just a larger and more mainstream company. Great comparison none the less.
I love your merch bro, especially your new ones WASD. I also, enjoyed this video so much great sounding headsets and clear. You bent the hell out of those headsets LOL.
If I connect my alpha S by the Mixer(USB) the audio quality change a lot. Like, my Cloud Stinger sounds better than Alpha S. That's crazy, maybe I'll send it back to the store.
So what did u end up doing? Mine was crackling on sharp sounds. I reverted the firmware of mine to an older version and it almost completely removed it
I asked this question on one of your videos between these headsets. Loved the video I knew I got a winner when I picked up the $100 g pro headset. I use them competitively and haven’t been disappointed
OMG, that merch is beautiful, congratulations! By the way, is there much difference between cloud alpha S and Redragon Zeus H510 in general? on PC PS: Love your vids.
Got logitech G pro X Wireless, should've just gone for HyperX honestly, Ghub is a mess with EQ presets, can't download any because they are for G PRO X wired lmao.
With mouse should i buy the glorios O or the glorius O- or the glorius D or the razer Viper mini or the razer deathradder V2 or the razer deathradder mini V2 or the Logitech g305 light speed or the skoll mini or the coolmaster mm711 or the endgame XM1 or the g wolves hati or the model D minus or the steelseries neon rider sensei ten limted edition or tell me Plz with mouse should i buy for fortnite my palm height is 70 mm and my palm width is 65 mm
The only thing i could disagree in that video is the mic comparison. Logitech pro had better mic in my ears. The techne sounds cleaner instead of cloud alpha s that reminds me more than how i sound a phone call makes me sound with less detail which for me is kinda unacceptable for that budget headset.
Bro i regret bought Logitech g pro :( ,only 1 year life. That cable on the headset was fucked up, ripped off after 6 month and only on the left side can be heard
I picked up the Mikemo Premium. Looks like one of the more popular frames, they look awesome and fast shipping should be here in a day or two...stoked!
Great review bro! I finally understand the difference, hearing all details individually for eSports (HyperX) vs all round sound for emersion with great detail just not all details (Logitech)
i have HyperX Alpha S and i have corsair hs60 pro but in rally HyperX Alpha S it is nothing beside corsair hs60 pro After my experience with Corsair HS60 Pro it is the best
I bought the Logitech G Pro and I don't know if there is something with my model but the mic doesn't sound as good as in your test even with the USB dongle and to be honest I don't really hear difference between the USB dongle and 3.5mm and I have an integrated sound card. Do you think that the USB dongle might not be working? Should I get a new pair or should I buy some other headphones?
