I'm facing a hysterectomy and extremely nervous waiting on a surgery date. I just want to say thank you so much 😢 for sharing your faith filled journey. I'm so grateful for your testimony. This is nerve wrecking to think about but knowing many more before me made it through God will see me through too.😊
@@aprilmcfadden8502 Had my surgery Nov 9 it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Stay hydrated get some colace and a tilt recliner. I'm still in recovery and it gets better everyday. I stopped taking pain meds 2 days after I came home. I'm over weight as well so I was scared about my stomach over lapping the incision but use gauze and clean incision with half water half peroxide and you will heal quicker on the outside. I'm so blessed and highly favored I'm grateful. Hope this helps 🥰
Two days post-op Vaginal hysterectomy and bladder sling. Catheter removed today and first bm today! Whoop whoop! Taking it one day at a time. Keeping all women going through this with me in my daily thoughts and prayers ❤
This was an awesome video. As someone who has had a hysterectomy myself, I wouldn’t change a thing. Great job!! You look gorgeous, I gotta say. Post op, I looked like I had been dragged backwards through a hedge several times. Again, you did a great job with this boy. God bless you with a fast recovery.
My wonderful Oncologist made sure that I had no issues with gas. Apparently, some women have gas up to their shoulders. My doctor said she worked very hard to pump the gas out before I went to Recovery, she was thrilled that I didn't have any issues with it. I found having an electic recliner very helpful to have, my daughter gifted me a used one which I still favour rather than sleeping in a bed, so comfortable and easy to get out of. I also fasted for four days before my surgery as well as before during and after radiation treatment.
My hysterectomy is next week. I watched your video a few months ago but now that I have a confirmed date this information is a refresher and very helpful.
Then I had a scare post op. I woke to being told they had to give me Narcan after surgery and I still slept two hours. BLESSED and THANKFUL to be alive!! 🙏🏽🙌🏽 Anesthesiologist gave me too much of something. 😳
Thank you so very much for making this video. I have to have a full hysterectomy in about a week. I believe in the Lord also. Thank you again so much for this video. I'm going to take all of your advice, get all the supplies ready, and get on my knees before my surgery. I hope you have a blessed day.
Such excellent advice! I had a hysterectomy a year & a half ago, & wished I had this video to help me through it. I did a lot of what you suggested, & I kept saying YES YES YES!!!!!!! I'm sending this to a friend who's going in for a hysterectomy soon! Just great advice! Thank you!
Baby that water, ice chips (like Chick-fil-A ice), ginger ale, and cranberry juice have been my life lines!!!!!!! I also drink Gatorade/Powerade but not as much cause of the carbs. Also, if you want to do a change up, Topo Chico has been a game changer! I recommend drinking it with cranberry juice!
My mom is about to have this procedure done + a tummy tuck so im trying to learn as much as posible about the recovery process, thank you very much for sharing this information!
Yes!!! The dry lips was a problem. I just had my surgery 4 days ago. All your tips were spot on. I’m only seeing this video, but I had everything on had. I wish I started the stool softener before. But have it now and made a big difference. And yes….the Gas X…..grab some…it helps too. Thanks for sharing
Looking good Sis!! I am so so so happy for you!! GOD is good all the time. Happy that you are recovering fast and looking sassy and doing you!!! God is merciful, gracious, loving, forgiving and here to repair your body, soul, mind and everything else you can think of....Be well, Michelle!! #BLACKGIRLMAGIC #WONTHEDOIT #BLESSEDANDFAVORED #GODSGOTYOU
Michelle you are beautiful! I'm glad that you shared the procedure & recovery process of your hysterectomy! Prayers for healing & full recovery! God bless!
Thanks so much for this helpful video. I worked as a medical assistant in OB/GYN for years and I know all about the medical professional side, but not the patient side. My mom had a hyst back in the 80s, but things have changed a lot since then, so it’s kinda hard to relate. I took notes on this video. Most helpful one I’ve seen so far. I go in next Tuesday. Eek! Thanks again. Cheers from Washington state! ❤
Simply Shell, Thanks for the information. I am 6 days out of unscheduled total hysterectomy of abdominal, bilateral salpingectomy. I did not think I would make it, but family and love brought me through. My surgery happened because I was rushed to the ER with heavy vaginal bleeding and extreme pain. I had never seen so much blood, and my husband told me I kept going in and out of consciousness. I wish I had time to prepare myself. When your body speaks, you need to listen, and my doctors were slow to react to my concerns.
I'm having the same response from my doctor, my total hysterectomy was 4years ago but it left me with a prolapse bladder through the operation my pain is uncomfortable and sore but I'm not getting anywhere with my complaints 😢🇬🇧I need help.
@@maggieboo8142I honestly had one of the best docs there was, and it was a man! Total professional and listened to all my concerns… comforted me during an emotional breakdown, and asked me more than once if I was sure this was what I wantes, and he was like “we dont have to rush, we can take our time to make sure you are ok”. I thank GOD for him, and the angels in my family that have surrounded me with love and care. This has been an amazing experience and I just thank GOD for everyone.
This was a very detailed account of postoperative care. Even better than what they gave me in the hospital. Sorry that you had to go through this and I hope you are healed. Thank you for the awesome information and sharing your experience ! 🙏🏼❤️
Thank you for sharing your experience about this process from start to finish. Praying for you and everyone who are affected by reproductive issues. I’m here in bed listening to your story. Looking forward to my own process of partial abdominal hysterectomy. It’s been a helluva journey. Thank you. ❤❤❤
I had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy June 1, and until now, July 21, I still feel some pain around my navel, and still not gaining back my strength. A little move (trying do do very light house chores) makes me gasp for breath. I had my surgery in New Zealand (cheaper than in the US), applied for medical tourist and was given a 6 monts visa. My husband accompanied me as my escort, had to stay in a hotel for the rest of our stay there (2 nights at the hospital). What’s good with my husband’s being there with me the whole process and I feel blessed because he had to do all the cooking, laundry, etc. and really took good care of me and all my needs. At the hospital the Physio also taught me how to get out and in the bed properly - do not use your stomach muscles - there is also a video on YT; how to go up and down the stairs, the blueball for lung exercises, to take a small walk after eating. She also gave me a pamphlet and she taught me some basic exercises for those who had the procedure (Kegel is a must). We travelled back to our country of residence on June 21. My doctor gave me an anti blood clot med. injections to inject on my tummy every night until the trip and to wear my compression socks to prepare me for the flight.
Had complete hysterectomy in 2012. Was able to have it done laparoscopically. My biggest “complication” was I blew my IV when asked to sit up after surgery (IV was in my hand so when I pushed on my hand, the vein popped). Spent a night in the hospital and went home the next. Needed very little pain medication after. Took a few weeks to feel back to 100%
@@stephanieharris6223 , I am six weeks out. The surgery with the DaVinci Robotic Arm wasn’t an issue. It is the on and off feeling bad. Perhaps due to over exertion.
This is the best video I have watched on this topic. Thank you for being so honest and open on your experience. This helps me feel better. My surgery is in a few days and I am scared. You are right, my faith has carried me through all my tough times. He got me through cancer and He will carry me through this. Glad to hear you are better. ❤
I just got the green light from my gynecologist to get scheduled for my hysterectomy. My lovely daughter sent me your video and the information is really awesome 👍
I brought my own gloss and reapplied before they rolled me into the OR. I really wanted to wear my matte lipstick. 😂😂 The constipation is SOOOO REAL!! Like you’re trying to give birth. My two moms gave me a high dose of Senna. The Colace at 250mg did nothing for me. It took five days to finally have a bowel movement. I felt MUCH better after. Before surgery I was given an antibiotic to prevent UTI. I’m low key upset I didn’t get the spirometer or the light weight waist trainer. 😂😂😂
I had EVERYTHING removed, everything. I was diagnosed with stage 1a Ovarian Cancer. I was cut from my pelvic bone up to almost my sternum. This video is on point in regards to the healing! Be kind to yourself and take it really easy ❤
Cherries, which contain red pigments that have powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric, which contains a compound called curcumin that can inhibit the growth and spread of cancer cells. Olive oil, which is rich in healthy fats and antioxidants that can protect against DNA damage and inflammation. Sea vegetables, such as seaweed, kelp, and nori, which are high in iodine, minerals, and phytochemicals that can modulate the immune system and prevent tumor formation. These food helps to kill cancer. Many blessings . It's curable .
Yours is the first that sounds like what I’m going through. They are going to remove everything, I too was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I do not know what stage yet, I did not want to have to get the incision that you had was hoping to get one below, but I’m not sure what they’re going to do yet, I’m very nervous. How are you doing? Five months later?
Hi simply shell. Thank you so much for these videos. I’m wAtching this one and will watch them all soon. I wish I would have discovered these prior. I had a total hysterectomy (kept ovaries though) 2 weeks ago. Still recovering but feeling ok. I’m with you as for the gingerale. I think the worst part for me was In fact the nausea! I felt it right after waking up from anesthesia up until about 1 week post op. Miralax - just one cup - was ok at home with just Tylenol and the nsaid for about 1 week. I was not given an abdominal binder or an incentive spirometer. I wonder why but 2 weeks post op and I’m feeling Okish but still can’t really bend like before and still taking it easy. My black and blue and beet red abdomen is going down now and clearing up. Thank you for all your wonderful guidance! You are definitely spot on and thank you so much for sharing your experience! It is so helpful!
Hello I'm scheduled in 2 weeks for hysterectomy but leaving my ovaries too. If you don't mind me asking, was your surgery an open abdomen surgery or lathroscopic robotic?
Just had my surgery a week ago. Wish I had seen your video beforehand, but after going through all the same things, you hit on all the points and made some great suggestions. ❤
@SimplyShell417 Better every day, after a couple set backs, including a UTI that I didn't prepare for (neither did my doc!). I am sure your video has helped so many women advocate for better care throughout the process! Thank you!
Had it the 22nd of May2023 and all that you are saying is so true! The constipation and gas is real! Coughing from tube hurts like Crazy!!! Thanks for posting for us!
Just had my hysterectomy 9/8/23. I had alot or nausea afterwards, but all the items you stated was on point! I have most of them because they have been blessings! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. I'm so use to doing everything by myself that I thought I could do this too. I'm glad I found your video and will definitely make sure to have someone with me thru this process. Sending you lots of healing energy and speedy recovery.
I have just started following you and these hysterectomy videos is really informative. I am having a full abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingectomy and you giving me everything I need. Thank you!!
Omgg this video just turned my stomach.!! I wasn’t nervous but now i am!!! Im doing all this!!! Anything she didnt list that can help for recovery please let me know!!
Thank you so much! I will be having my procedure at my c section delivery in a couple of months. My baby has several complications and will definitely will need more attention than I but to know now more or so what I will need to help so that I can put all my focus on baby and her procedures has definitely been a blessing. Thank you so much! Yessss Jesus is our strength and the love you poured into this video will be a blessing to a lot of women like me in situations like these. Blessings!
Just seeing this. Thank you for taking the time to make this video! Did you have ovaries & cervix removed and was it done laparoscopically robot or bikini cut? And lastly any relations issues/orgasm etc. Thank you again! Greatly appreciated. ❤️ .
Thank you so much for this! I go in for a totally hysterectomy, bladder tack, and labial repair from giving birth 10 months ago. Such great tips and has helped me feel more calm about the situation!
My brother will be helping me as my Fiancé has to be in a wedding that I’m now missing out on in Florida. No way is he helping me get in the shower though!! 😅.
I'll soon have surgery on May 17th I'm truly scared.ive watched many videos and counting. You have been very helpful been yours I appreciate that. I'm glad you are doing well now plz pray 4 me I also have other health issues so that worries me. God got me.
Thank you, a lot of this was helpful some I knew or found out real quick, the peridium would have been useful. I use a pillow vs binder . I had surgery on Monday and I’m doing all my normal house stuff except driving.
Thank you for these tips. I'm about three weeks after my hysterectomy and I still feel miserable. Yes, my incisions are healing up well, I still feel pain in my insides and I'm doing what I can but I admit that I'm still feeling miserable and I think it's just more of the being afraid of being constipated thing so I've taken the stool softener but my problem honestly is, I don't have much of an appetite. I did try to eat a little bit more and worse, I few days after my surgery (it was December 19th), I wanted to take part in some Christmas festivities which was likely a bad idea so I overdid it. I'm babying myself now. I go from my bed to my recliner sofa day in, day out and it's frankly getting very boring but your advice is very good, especially having a good support system. My husband is doing all he can, he's a sweetheart but when he's working, I'm left to my own devices. So for the time being, I'm trying to heal up. I just wish it was faster. 😔
I just had mine 3 weeks ago. Everything you said is spot on. The only problem now is hot flashes. I wish i had of had my surgery by home aka east, jersey/Philly. Being in the south the treatment is just different.
Thanks for sharing. Keeping you in my Prayers while you are healing. Ill be having a Hysterectomy soon. Did you have any Bleeding after your surgery where you needed pads or liners? And how long if you did? New Subscriber. ❤❤
Your video was such an amazing find. I’m having a hysterectomy in two weeks and trying to prepare, and no one has mentioned whether I’ll have any discharge after the surgery. Do I also need to buy pads ahead of time?
This was a huge worry for me . Put it off for to long due to caring for my husband in his last years and being self employed didn’t help. After radical surgery I’ve never felt better, out and home in 2 days 😊my surgeon was amazing. The hospital provided a few pads , no discharge internal stitches broke after a week so yes you may need pads. Good luck ❤
Thank you so much for your video. I am five days post surgery. I did many similar preparation‘s. Which is listening to you talk about what you are experiencing and how crazy your stomach and bowels felt is totally relatable. It was very reassuring. Just listening to another woman. share about exactly how I am feeling. Thank you
Your video has been the best one I've watched. My hysterectomy is tomorrow. They are requesting I stay overnight in the hospital. My hubby has to.come home with our son and I am freaking out.😂
Im having a hysterectomy on 1/17/24. Dealt with complex endometrial hyperplasia for about 5 years now. Pelvic pain, bleeding, clots. ER visits. Mirena failure (expelled through my cervix) .. had tubes removed etc. finally got approved for hysterectomy after 5 years of this. Im 34. One child and 2 step kids. Im reasy but really nervous!
thankyou sm for this love im a trans guy getting my hysto done soon and its all very overwhelming and uncomfortable for me but u have a really welcoming vibe and this was insanely helpful
I’m about to have this surgery and seeing your video has really helped me plan for what all must haves I need to get. Thank you for posting your video ❤
Don't worry, I was nervous going in too. She gives a lot of good tips which cover everything you could experience. I had no breathing issues, no vomiting or UTI. I had Constipation and gas. One thing I didn't hear was some ginger candy for nausea right after the surgery. It's always good to be prepared so you don't have to worry about going to the store to buy something. Good luck and remember to take it easy with your recovery.
I am well. That surgery had me weak, I didn't think I was going to be down how I was but I caught up on a lot of rest. Thank you bc you helped me prepare myself 💯💕
Came across your video at 1:30 am because I couldn’t manage to get up to use the restroom without having pain. Granted I am only 1 week post op but nevertheless…I used your belly band technique when getting up and it really made a HUGE difference! Thank you for tips and advice.
Hey beautiful am happy that u ok and still inspiration for me so muchh love u so muchh and u amazing keep going im paying for u and u family ♥️♥️♥️from Canada Québec
Thanks for this video everything u said was on point but I was lucky my pain was only 3 days but I didn’t use no hard pain medication Tylenol done the work maybe because my doctor did numb my hips after surgery and I went home day 2 I’m 3 week’s recovery still healing I had the full hysterectomy the doctor kept both ovaries because they were fine no reason to take out if they wasn’t I was told they were gone go to but I got lucky I’m on the stage now I get tired fast and some times I get hot pretty quick some times other then that I’m good a c section surgery and my surgery was 1 hour 30 mins but I’m fine and good only thing that got me after surgery was the cough after surgery I really say bring something for your throat and you get full fast as of now my appetite still not the same I eat little bite and get full fast
Thanks for sharing all the must haves. I'm going to have a hysterectomy soon and my husband and I have been trying to think about all the things I may need to plan better. You've helped us immensely by sharing.
