Speaking of the nerves at the scar sights. I had my hysterectomy 11 years ago, and every now and then I still have a stinging almost burning sensation at one tiny spot in my scar. As if my scar is saying remember me? Yeap I'm still here. However I had the old old traditional surgery where they cute you from belly button to public bone and I did get an infection right below my belly button right before my staples came out. You will have little reminders now and then, but yes life is 100% better after hysterectomy. Glad to hear you are doing well and yes continue to take it easy until you feel like your normal self.

That was not my experience at all. I was out on restrictions for 12 weeks and my incisions were still not completely healed. 11 months later and I had to push for a referral to be in in pelvic floor PT due to some nerve issues and incontinence. I have not been able to wear a bra comfortably due to pain shooting up to my head and down to my groin and ankles. Recovery has been an absolute nightmare and thankfully, physical therapy has helped tremendously. Please advocate for yourselves and don’t let any doctor make you think that your symptoms are normal because when you get to physical therapy, they will tell you that they’re not.

I’m at 8 weeks now. Had to go back to work at 4 weeks. I do my 10000 steps at my shop so taking it easy wasn’t an option for me. I bought a belly band which helped a lot and at the 7 weeks mark I was back on my roller skates. So happy it’s done and spring is here now in Australia. My 50th year is a year I won’t forget

I had a total hysterectomy, everything removed, with a vertical 7.5 inch cut almost 2 years ago. My vertical incision was all internal stitches. When I was watching your video, I thought to myself "oh yeah, it's going to be months before they dissolve". :-) I hear you about jeans. For me, it was probably a good 3 months before jeans were comfortable for me. Like you, every week got a little bit better. I read where having a hysterectomy with having everything removed can take up to a year to heal completely. I'll be 2 years post op this May and feel great. Glad you are on the road to getting back to normal. 🙂

I still have some pain in my belly button area but overall I wake up feeling better each morning (what a difference a day makes!) I have to remind myself to take it slowly because some times I feel really good and may push myself a bit more (staying up walking a bit more) but my body will quickly let me know to sit down! 😂 Anywho, hope yours and the original commenters’ recovery is coming along well! 😊

@@marhki ... I'm doing VERY WELL! Thanks for asking! I really haven't had any pain, other than some mild, menstrual like cramps the first and second days. I was REALLY sick 🤢 ( nausea & vomiting) from anesthesia this time ( I had NONE of that the only other time I had general anesthesia, when I had my gallbladder removed in 2008)... I spend 2 nights in the hospital, which I was told at least one, but probably 2... I was finally able to keep something down by Wednesday night and went home around lunchtime on Thursday. I haven't taken any pain meds since Saturday evening, and not because I was in pain, but couldn't sleep. I still feel like I am having side effects from the anesthesia ( taste is off, brain fog, weird dreams, etc) but feel a big improvement every day! My incisions are healing very well and kinda itchy now. I went for my first follow up appointment on Monday @ 6 days post op and will go again at 6 weeks post op.

It just takes time but it will pass. Promise! I was uncomfortable in the car for weeks! I took my travel pillow along to press on my belly under the seatbelt and that was very helpful. I have several more videos on my channel on my recovery process. I think they would be helpful to you too. Best wishes!

Thank you for making these videos about your hysterectomy experience. I’m a couple of weeks away from getting mine. I have endometriosis and a fibroid, also some endometrial scarring on my bowel. I’ve had an MRI, and just about to get a colonoscopy to see if I need a section of my bowel removed due to scarring. My gynae has had all these tests done so that he can perform a total hysterectomy via keyhole. Your journey has inspired me, I now know that I have to take the time to heal and recover. I’m 54, and have been on a health and fitness journey over the last 2 years. So happy that you’re now released. I’m also a curly grey haired woman, thank you for all your videos. Hi Renee, I just wanted to say to you, if you have redness and itching from the patches it means your skin is allergic to the plastic. It’s actually quite common to have this. I had the same thing happen to me when I had to use surgical dressings from my surgery a couple of months ago. I stopped using them and the redness and itching went away after a few days. You may want to discuss a cream hormonal treatment instead of the patches with your doctor. In any case you’re doing so well and I’m so glad to see that you’re taking things nice and easy on your body until it fully heals. Love your channel and can’t wait for the new videos to come out to watch them. Sending you lots of healing energy and heaps of love from the Gold Coast, Australia 👍🥰

You are very fortunate. In January 2024 I had a total hysterectomy laparoscopic ( ovaries, cervix, fallopian tubes and uterus ) for endometrial cancer. Following that I had to undergo 3 treatments of internal radiation called brachytherapy. There are side effects to that type of radiation which can be long term. I now have to go in for internal exams every 3 mos.

Hope you are getting better each day. How's your recovery been so far? Planning for a hysterectomy in a month. Did they do an ultrasound prior to your surgery? Did the doctors tell you have endometrial Cancer before surgery? Or was it a surprise afterwards? I am just scared 😮.
@mariacarrizales6457
@mariacarrizales6457 2 месяца назад
@@r-jproductions1343 In my experience, the hysterectomy was the easy part. Mine was done laparoscopic, 4 small ports , woke up with no side effects from anesthesia. Recovery from surgery has been very smooth. My main discomfort was while sitting down, had a bit of pain when needed to move my bowels, kind of like menstrual cramps. Don’t be afraid of the surgery 🥰. We had a strong suspicion of endometrial cancer due to blood work . Both my CA125 and HE4 were elevated, especially the HE4. I had abnormal bleeding for about 2 years which I thought was perimenopause. Once I started suffering (out of the blue) from urinary incontinence and kept getting worse , I finally went to the doctor . I was initially referred to a urogynecologist, and finally to an oncologist. The ultrasound showed endometrial thickness. The Dr attempted an endometrial biopsy but my blood pressure was so high, she said it would be best for the oncologist to do a frozen section in the hospital under general anesthesia. The frozen section confirmed the cancer and now the final pathology confirmed is grade 1, stage 3A. I hope this information is helpful. I am terrified of radiation and chemo but that’s more than likely what’s in the cards for me 🥲.

Thank you for sharing your story. I had a complete hysterectomy in October of 2023. I was out from work for a month, even though my doctor wanted me to go back to work in 2 weeks, I told him flat out no I have enough sick time available . I experienced some of your symptoms. Like wearing tight clothing around the waist. I have 5 small scars those seems to be taking a long time to go away. I'm also on the estradiol path, I thought patch should be wore at the lower abdomen area. Any females reading this who haven't done their surgery, please stay away from the Lupron injection before your surgery.

Hello, I want to thank you for sharing your journey, it’s mind boggling to learn there’s such little information and education on these peri menopause and menopause issues from doctors. I am having a total hysterectomy in a couple of months and your blog is helping ease some of my fears. About this post and what you share about your abs, I would suggest you reach out to a personal trainer that can rehab your pelvic floor. I’ve been researching and the potential for pelvic prolapse after these surgeries is high. You have to start strengthening your pelvic floor and abs ASAP. Ask your doctor about it, your insurance might cover a pelvic floor rehab specialist.

The big thing I found I had to do after my full hysterectomy like yours, was being diligent about core and pelvic floor exercises to keep my bladder in the right position, otherwise, some ladies will start leaking and their bladders may fall or fold and increase your risk of UTI’s. Thankfully, I had an awesome recovery nurse who shared this with me, not the surgeon. I followed up with my GYN about this and I made sure I got a referral to a physical therapist who specializes in leaky bladders and pelvic floor strengthening and she wishes that surgeons would send our type of post op patients to her when released to exercise. Ladies, look into this!!!

Hi Jenny! During the first 2 weeks of recovery, I literally did nothing. I didn't clean anything, pick up anything, move anything....nothing. Then weeks 3-4 I starting with small things...cleaning the bathroom countertops and sinks, making the bed (but didn't pull hard on the covers), straightening up the house...but everything I did was easy and involved no lifting over 5 pounds. I did pick things up off the floor if they were small. I just made sure to take my time, rest when needed, and tell myself that if I couldn't do it...it was ok. Weeks 4-6 I did more...but not much more. I was able to do laundry at the point....but had Randy bring the laundry basket to the laundry room for me. I'm now 7 weeks and am taking it slow. I did too much yesterday with walking and cleaning...and my belly started hurting. I'm taking it easy today with doing nothing. I think the key is understanding that the house will be messy, things won't be done, you'll need help....and it's ok. You'll get better and take care of it when you feel like you can. Best wishes and speedy recovery to you! 💗
