I wouldnt even know where to start without this video followed you step by step and successfully replaced the wife's latch thank you so much all way from New Zealand 👍
I just finished replacing my driver's side rear door lock actuator (03.29.24). I've got a 2016 Tucson Limited. My door had been locked in place for over a year. Thankfully I don't have a lot of passengers but I decided to finally fix it since so many other parts started to fail over this last year as well. The hardest part was wrestling with the window track between the two pieces of the white plastic connected to the actuator. Putting everything back together took no time at all. Couldn't have done it without this video, so thank you for walking me through this process. Hyundai quoted me at just under $600 so I was able to fix it myself for right at about $45.
Just finished replacing my driver's side rear door lock actuator (01.03.24). This was a very helpful video although it was quite a bear getting the old lock actuator out trying to manipulate it around the window track so I thought it has to be easier to put the new lock in first and then plug in the wire harness and fit in the panel. Worked like a charm and everything operated smoothly. It went back together in half the time or less than it did in the video. Not to diminish or take anything away from this video. Probably couldn't have done it easily or at all if I didn't watch this vid.
Mark here...my sum total experience consists of doing just this. Caveat emptor. Grains of salt. On the re-install, I found it much easier to work the unit up in there not attached to the door panel. Plugged in easily and slid back into the door panel easily as well. I could not easily get the cables to snap out of the piece one does not want to break. Dremel with cutting wheel for both the cables and round press-in thingies. That is all.
I have a 2016 HYundai Tuscon with my front passenger door sticking. I went to the dealer to get an estimate on repairing the latch. Price was $700(part # 81410-D3000). But, the service rep. pulled up on her computer screen was a Technical Service Bulletin. It was a door latch replacement extended warranty(my car was out of warranty with 50k miles) for certain Tuscon's 2016-2017. I recommend going to the service center in person versus calling. Hope this helps.
Why is this not a recall? It has happened to a lot of Hyundai vehicles. I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson I just bought last October and now the passenger side door won't open from outside. Only opens from inside
Thanks mate, without this video, I could have quite easily broken a few parts. Thought I could get away with not doing the window bolt. It turns out you have to take it out. Cheers, super helpful.
Fantastic video. This is the best one online. Thank you! Would you know how much shop time is allocated for this job? I was going to attempt myself but maybe I will take it in. Mine is the driver door 17 sportage
Hello! Thank you so much, I am now able to open and close door. Question I know have door open alarm on my dash. How can I fix it? Maybe I moved something while changing the door interlock, not sure. Thanks!
Thank you for your reply! Turns out the seller sent me the wrong lock actuator part number for my car model once received the correct part, I followed your video again and door opens and closes, alarm isn't sounding when door closed, it all works good. Thank you so much!
Can you link to the video on how to open the door if it’s locked shut? Interior and exterior handles are useless. Door lock too. But trying not to destroy the $1,900 door panel. I couldn’t find the video you said came prior to this one on how to use a screwdriver to open the door of stuck shut. Thanks!
Any idea why this wasn’t recalled? My wife has an 2016 Tucson. I did the trick where’s you take the door apart and trim down the latch a little. Still didn’t fix it. Guess I’ll have to do this step next…
Would this be the same on a 17 Elantra? Someone broke into mine and I tried to buy a new handle and lock but it won’t work because that inner white plastic is all broken!
Most of the hyundai tucson got this prob.. whats actually causing it and how to prevent it.. plus whats the chances if we replace the latch and it wont happen again?
Hi, please help me, I have a Hyundai Santafé, I replaced myself the Rear Left Actuator lock door. I tested and the actuator work properly. But When I closed the Door, surprise is that it did not open ( no inside and not outside) What Can I do if I have not more access to the internal screws. Hopefully you can help me!!!. It does not have the plastic cover, and I have access to the steel cables, but they move electronically and manually, but they do not release the door.
This video was confusing and hard to follow. Have someone hold the camera as you go through the steps from the beginning. The camera was too jerky and you can't properly see how to do this repair.
