The Hyundai Elantra GT N-Line replies the Hyundai Elantra GT Sport, the first car in the Hyundai family to get the "N-Line: designation. This is not a pure N car like the Veloster N or i30 N sold in Europe. The Hyundai Elantra GT N-Line is a compact hatchback car that competes with the VW GTI. It has a roomy cabin and is nicely equipped with a lot of standard features, with only one option package. The engine is a 201hp 1.6L turbo 4-cylinder engine with 195lb.-ft. of torque that runs on regular gas. The Hyundai Elantra Gt N-Line is a 5-passenger 5-door hatchback. The Elentra GT N-Line comes standard with leather heated seats, 18-inch wheel, LED lights, an 8-inch display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 6-sped manual transmission or 7-speed dual clutch unit.

In Germany we have the i30N, which is basically the Elantra here with the Veloster N engine! 275hp in a small hatchback for a really really good price! They’re selling like hot cakes... you see them everywhere and they’re much cheaper than a Golf 7 GTI, arguably more fun the the GTI too

I’d go for this in a heartbeat. Of all the Hyundai/Kia models with this power train, this is the one that appeals to me most. I like the Veloster but it gives up a bit too much practicality. The Forte GT looks decent as well, but I haven’t owned a sedan in years. Not sure if I would be able to go back. This seems like the perfect balance. Make mine a manual though

My wife and I have a 2018 Elantra GT Sport with the dual clutch transmission. We've been quite happy with it. Love the features it has, and it's a great cruiser that you can have fun with on a back road. You're right about the tires, and they will be going once we wear them a bit bore as we have a winter set. I think it looks very nice and will age well, much better that the Civic. It's cheaper than the GTI, and while you can argue the VW is a better put together car Hyuandi has done a great job with it. I do wish they sold the N version because I prefer the looks and usability of the Elantra over the Veloster. Havinf said that the aftermarket seems to be providing parts for these cars so once the warrenty is over maybe we'll add an exhaust and a tune.
@orrief3806
@orrief3806 3 года назад
I bought a 2018 Elantra GT Base because, for a variety of reasons that applied to our specific needs, we didn't want want leather seats, a turbo engine, the dual-clutch transmission, and we could not use the panoramic sunroof, since we bought the car specifically to carry our kayaks on the roof. But I love our base Elantra GT. It's the best looking small car I've ever seen, very nicely made, very solid and provides good performance as a daily driver. Only a couple of gripes: the engine/exhaust makes a sad moaning sound at a certain rev range on normal acceleration (I think it's when the transmission shifts up to 4th gear); the steering has very little feedback, and Sport setting doesn't help much. The fuel economy is a little disappointing. And there's no lumbar adjustment. The Base model has had no recalls and no service issues that I am aware of.

It's a bit funny the way Hyundai steps this car compared to the GTI. The N line is not the performer the GTI is, but it's cheaper. The i30 N blows the GTI away for the same money.

It's a nice car and a much better value than the GTI. The cabin looks rather cheap though in monochromatic black. Aside from some sparse red accents, which I'm not a fan of personally. I think they should have added a red pinstripe on the door panels and dash just to jazz up the design a little more. I'm really perplexed why it's wearing the N-Line badge. It has the same power output as the regular Elantra GT Sport. I thought the entire purpose of the new N-Line was better performance. Hyundai has offered some of their cars with an optional sport-tuned suspension and lower profile tires for years. So simply doing that and slapping on an N-Line badge seems in bad taste. They should have just given it the same power numbers as the Veloster N-Line, since it has the same 1.6L turbo engine. Not sure what Hyundai was thinking. I'd still consider this over a GTI though. I think VW is trying to cash in on the GTI name and overpricing them immensely.

I had a 2016 GTI...got rid of it after only 25,000 miles. The thing was a disaster. The brake rotors would rust overnight...making a horrible scratching noise the first few brakes the next day. Then all for rotors got horrible grooves cut in them. I could see one, but all 4? (and they still rusted every day) I started having dew on the INSIDE of the windows. I couldn't figure out why. I finally looked in the spare tire area...there's 2" of standing water, and it was slimy. I never kept a window open during the rain. And finally, driving down the highway, the onboard computer turned off one of my cylinders. I limped off to the side, had it towed to dealership (2 months left on warranty). Dealership says they see where the computer turned off the cylinder, they don't know why, they can't recreate it. Sorry about your luck, come get your car. I will NEVER buy another VW as long as I live. It was fun to drive....I'll give it that. It also burned through a set of tires in only 18k miles. Badly cupped. And I even had an alignment at 4000 miles. And I don't drive like a teenager. (I'm a grandfather) Never again!

+1. .. Agreed. .. The GTI 's Econo hot-hatch recipe has a pedigree. .. I've owned an '83, an '86 and an '89 GTI. .. Good, clean, fun.

Cheap, nasty plastic dash, really bland exterior, no class, no pedigree.

This car just doesn't look right from most angles. It only looks OK from the rear.

Yes so much better when it requires expensive repairs when it breaks often. We all get mind boned by VW, some of us snap out of it.

The styling on this car will age much sooner than the elegant straight lines of the GTI. Also for everyday use, i would want something that is more compliant and the GTI fits all those bills. I suspect this will depreciate faster and higher to take way the notion of a more affordable comparable offering. The i30 N though, is a whole different ball game.

Pankaj Nalavde actually the gti is boxy styling design , already looks outdated.

You make no sense. It's the exact same shell. In fact, i30 only produced 140 hp. The GT Sport aka N-Line is actually a more powerful engine. I'm not saying the US version is better. The i30 offers hatchback, fastback, and wagon bodies in sporty N-Line trim, plus they have diesel. 😩 Americans just don't buy hatches.

Definition of prejudice. Mine does 0-60 in 5.1 with a top speed of 150mph top trim for under 30k with a better warranty. Why would I pay 6k more for the same trim and a less reliable car that has dated looks? Sure, maybe if I was given a choice to pick one for free but I ain't gonna pay 6k more for slightly better performance for a car that'll never look as good - IMO
