Most of ur complaints are user error. The only valid problem was the leaking oil pan. 9/10 people dont know how to drive a dct so thats why they complain about it. Very hard to believe the dealer just swapped a trans because it was "jerky". The top-end can be improved for $300. Odds are ur gf constantly creeps this car in traffic which rapes the clutch pack. Btw kia/hyundai have been using the 1.6T + 7 spd dct combo for almost a decade.

Oh I can assure you it got a new trans. Very possible she could’ve been creeping the car. Although I did tell her that’s one of the things not to do so the only time I knew she would do that is pulling in the garage. Either way it should last longer than it did. Like I said we loved the car but with the issues it just didn’t feel smart keeping it long term. May have just gotten unlucky being it was the first production year, built more towards start of covid, and the first one for sale within 100 miles when they were released, so it was one of the very very early production models.

What do you mean. Creeps in traffic I have a N line new to dct how am I supposed to treat this car? What should I avoid doing if you don't mind educating me thanks!

@@8lackBlack when you’re in stop and go traffic it puts a lot wear and tear on the clutches from constantly going forward a tiny bit and stopping over and over. So basically just try not to constantly stop and go constantly. I wouldn’t really worry about. Just drive the car and enjoy it. It has a 100k warranty for a reason.

I’m at 50,000, and the dct is definitely smoother when you drive it harder. Hoping the the trans goes out before warranty is up lol

Yeah that transmission was setup to be abused and not driven nicely it seems. Which is quite comical to me lol

Question: with the dct is there a procedure to bed in the clutches for longevity ? Is there any " negative " to in fact babying the trans as far as wearing or bedding in differently ? I have a 2019 GT N Line with MT that I paid 21K for new . What was SICK that i didnt even know was it showed up with Michelin PS4S Tires for taking 1200.00 off MSRP for getting rid of DCT and taking the 6 spd . With the factory cash for 2K and playing dealers vs dealers for sale and willing to pick car up 100 miles away car was 20k essentially and haggled trade in for best offer to increase TAX SAVINGS!!! For my money the 6 spd with the infinitely better tires with 1200.00 discount it made a brand ne GT N LINE the price of a used car which made it an amazing car / deal and i say , I bought the very last cheap new car worth buying . I only test drove the DCT cars a few places trying to feel them out to see if I could feel good buying one and they were OK driving and my thought was HOLY COW this has onky 200 hp in 3000Lb car and in drive in sport when i matted the pedal it kicked down and got the car into the little bit of range where it makes some power and shifted what felt like every other second to give the feeling of being more powerful in regular driving. I didnt like the constant quick upshifts that were GREAT but not " satisfying" as everytime you thought you could feel some power it already shifted which is logical but the experience was meh for me. THEN!! I go 1 hr away to pick up my MT car and i am like WTF this has PS4S Tires on a Hyundai that is the budget spec with the common wee 1.6t ? Then i drove away and was like HOLY MOLLY It fealt like a completely different car then ones i tested . The steering response was better and when i hucked it into sharp turns it was very different . I kept messing with it making sudden inputs etc and pleasently surprised that the handling and brakss felt different and better . The power ? Completely different experience . DCT meant for regular druving where you dont exceed 75 -80 mph just getting around you dont think and just flat the pedal and you have all the power anybody woukd ever need for a daily driver to not feel scared if you make a quick choice to change lanes or merge and of course you can auto shift it if you want to go 50 + on 15-20 mph roads with warning signs everywhere . The Manual you MUST !!!!!!!! Be very exlerienced with manuals to feel you have enough power to drive confidently when making choices as you really only have useable "power" in 2nd and 3rd gear and in regular driving you will want to downshift from 6th and rev match 3rd to access potential power so you need to be confident , accurate and QUICK for those choices that happen quickly as 6th and 5th are totally overdrive gears and have no power . 4th has a little if your already hustling and 1st is ALL THE POWER through the peg legged diff , its kind of violent for only 200 hp , you might get some wheel tramp and be ready to grab second like right away . But playing in the second and 3rd gear on canyon and super twisty back / mountain / technical roads or being a maniac on very long on ramps is fun and very satisfying . 2nd gets into boost , and revs out to 62-400 rpms or so , and it makes a not awful sound for 4 cyl doing it and its fun lower shifting into 3rd where it also pulls nicely and has longer time to rev for a dramatic effect when yku speed shift into 4th by which point your cooking and unless on straight road your letting out shortly and your passenger is saying " what car is this again " , this is a hyundai ? You paid what ? I swear most people the 1st time I pick them up they dont recognize what it is . Ive onky ever seen 1 other GT N LINE on the road ever . People think it is a VW or just confused and extra confused on twisty road. Manual 10x more fun with such a pokey little engine and can be made to feel fast if you wait until right rpm and mash it , redline and powershift 3rd and your passenger will think " hmmm" cars kinda quick . DCT means , at least when brand new , you mash the gas and the thing is on boil , making noise but also moving out. But shifting very quickly and i prefer watching the tach and hearing the semi pleasent engine rev for a while in 2 gears rather yhen blap blap blap and your hoping no cops around . DCT makes it a better car for avg person who doesnt wa t to think on HWY and can mash throttle and pass semi , get away from bad driver , overtake and all that and makes car kinda quick despite very little power by todays standards in a 3000k lb car or more if you get the overpriced package that is the only option and forces nannies on you and heavy giant glass roof in a basic car putting weight up high hurting the handling / response and acceleration quite a bit . I dont like any glass or power roof on a car , never use them and never look up when driving to notice and extra weight , $ and problems , fuck the passengers if they want an airy or bright feeling , your getting a free ride and I am watching the road and traffic so dont need it . Pano roof for 4500.00 package in poverty spec car with 1.6 is trying to fool yourself IMO , Great cars if you pay the right price and invest the 4k elsewhere . If you have a DCT car SCRAP THE M EDIOCRE ALL SEASONS and get PS4S tires and then try and find the limit of grip on public road and scare yourself silly while stuck to door card holding on to wheel trying to add input on hairy tight turns . Tranforms the car into a reall good back road attack tool where your seats and belts are limiting factor and not the suspension shockingly , they stick like a booger despite no LSD and you need to be anti social or anti self to find the actual limit of car on twisties. I can get to top of third on sharp radius long onramp and get it to 4 wheel drift and dance a bit with surprsingly little understeer and back to come out a little and some fun drama and a little adrenaline without too much pucker butt or go to jail speeds you would need in certain cars making it the most fun 20k new car ive driven personally since the 80s

@@michelleaikens2963 yep they are junk unfortunately. People get mad when I say that but it’s my honest opinion after owning one…I truly enjoyed the looks and the way it drove when it ran correctly. Great handling too.

Dont think your getting a very reliable car going with other brands al manufactures today cars have lots of issues i have a type r that left me stranded in the road bad fuel pump and other problems that honda has toyota and nissan also good luck

Yep! I agree all brands have their issues but overall I have much more faith in Honda than I do in Hyundai. Just based on personal experience. I had a 10th gen Si and was going to get an FK8 before I got my truck. Hope your issues are sorted out in your FK8. Those cars give such a great driving experience.

I would not worry about it! The warranty is there just incase. I think a lot of it had to do with us getting the very first production year of the car. I’m sure they’ve worked out some bugs by now!
