We've had our Ioniq 38 for over two years. We live near the CBD in Adelaide South Australia and bought this knowing that most of our driving would be short to medium distances with no back seat passengers. For that kind of driving it is perfect*. As a driving proposition the car is not such a jump from an ICE vehicle in the way that the Tesla is. I have a friend who has a Tesla and his wife won't drive it because she finds it too 'intimidating'. My wife loves the Ioniq. We have a charging station in our apartment car park. In retrospect, we could have gotten away without this expense and trickle charged it overnight or used local commercial charging stations. Beyond that, it may not have the pick up that other EVs have, but it's more than adequate and I think it's a lot of fun to drive! * We do the occasional country drive with two adult passengers in the back plus luggage and have found the car works well. Space is not great, but it is adequate. More recently we travelled to Melbourne (8-9 hours total driving) and, given such a trip in our previouis ICE vehicle involved an overnight stay, found the car performed superbly. The car, in fact, wasn't a problem it was more the planing that was necessary in terms of charging. That was manageable and will get better.

By far the best review of this car I've come across - answered several questions for me. Thank you!

@@CarandDrivingCarReviews Very good review, I am getting the car myself at the weekend and this cleared up any concerns. The random music kicking in thorough out the review could probably be removed though😅

The presentation style is a bit off-putting at first, but actually these reviews are some of the most detailed and thorough around.

Great review but I have to say I think it is actually easy to get OVER the wltp figures in this car, I cannot say that about the Leaf I had prior to it.

Why only did Hyundai not offer the 64 kWh Battery from the Kona into the Ioniq?! What a pitty!!!

??? Is the Bluelink service a monthly subscription based service to activate the remote start and climate control feature through your phone?

I believe it's free for about 3 years before subscription charges begin.

would you buy ths car in 2024 having 65k miles on it?
@benellis7427
@benellis7427 5 месяцев назад
Yeah, here in the UK there is a 5 year unlimited mile warranty and you will still have 35k miles on the battery warranty. The battery doesn’t show degradation and has proven to be reliable. If worried about the mileage there are plenty of low mileage examples at a fraction of the cost of new. At the time I bought mine it was cheaper than a used polo of the same age and mileage, they are a bargain and that’s something that reviewers can’t tell you about.
