My friend leased a ioniq while waiting for the model 3 to be released in the UK. He ended up buying a new ioniq over the model 3

I never regret buying my Ioniq28 new from the dealer. £22,000 Was an absolute steal. Wish they still sold the 28 at a lower price... Would serve so many people well & be at a price that would open the flood gates.

For regen on the 28kWh hold in the left paddle and it'll go direct to level 3 and the right paddle held will go straight to level 0. The new 38kWh left paddle when held constantly will go to level 3 and come to a complete stop.

Really happy to hear to you enjoying the drive, I feel the Ioniq is often overlooked by people but now they are starting to appear on the second hand market some lucky people are going to get a really great car.

The Adaptive Cruise is also excellent. In traffic it matches the speed of cars in front if they are slower and will bring the car to a stop with no brake needed. Then move off itself if traffic moves fairly soon. And selecting the 'Hold' button stops creep and holds the car when stopped whether on a hill or not.

Underrated here in the US because it wasn't sold in many states. Every video out of Europe has people very impressed by the capability of it.

Great car! Few more tips - - The accelerator pedal has kickdown, this operates in all modes but particularly useful if you drive in eco all the time and need to nip off the line or overtake - Full climate control including a heat pump heater to maximise range - just leave it set to 19.5 and auto, no need to twiddle with it - Car has both speed limiter and radar adaptive cruise control, along with lane keep assist its super easy to cruise on the motorway - Loads of settings in the drivers menu on the dash, as already mentioned seat position moving, 'follow me home' lights etc The car has only ever let me down once and that was the 12 volt battery going flat - if you're sat outside somewhere waiting or charging don't run the car on the 12v battery alone, after about an hour it'll be flat. You can leave the car fully turned on, in park, with lights off quite happily, even whilst rapid charging. When you finish your rapid charge unplug and then turn off and back on and drive away...

Also annoyingly, but quite rightly, if you get out the car with your keys and it's still powered on, it'll moan at you.

last Sat evening @ necton Norfolk 67.8 Kw's was going to my Ionic. I like that I can supercharge all-day, makes long journeys cheap (apart from teas & coffees or a meal while charging).

With the wing mirrors in Auto and locked, on approach they'll auto fold out and the mirror and door handle lights illuminate even before you open it. Walk past it and do nothing they'll auto fold back in. So many really cool innovative tech features.

The drivers seat on exit automatically moves back and on entry moves back to your stored position. You can set the distance movement in the menu system. However as you have it back nearly all the way it may be past its rear travel limit. A great feature, your wife will love that also. I bought a Zoe ZE40 last year over an Ioniq Electric and that was a poor decision as I bought on the Zoe range and cheap cost, not quality and efficiency. Like you late to the Hyundai Ioniq game.

Yeah, loving my 38 kWh Ioniq. First 2 things I do every trip though is turn off LKA and turn on Auto Hold. I usually have the regen in Auto and then it drives very similarly to e-Pedal in the LEAF just without the full stopping at low speeds. Brilliant cars.
@roosterbooster6238

150 mile range is great for a 28kWh battery. Just a shame about that rear visibility and lack of a wiper, which should be a legal requirement in the UK!

I drove a charity drive to all 4 extreme corners of mainland UK in a Hybrid ioniq. Can confirm they are comfortable and relaxing cars. 2,500 in 48 hrs is testament to that.

You can also turn auto de-mist off permanently by press and holding the front de-mist button for 3 seconds. It always drove me mad that it wouldn't deliver heated air straight away. Now I get lots of hot air immediately and it demists faster 😆

Fantastic car. I have had one for 1 year. Perfectly reliable, 10,000 Miles and 152 WH/km over that mileage. The best efficiency EV on the market.Do not let the range scare you. Also, many owners, up to 100K miles and no battery capacity loss.
@simoncanfer5030

That's because the battery health reports a 1 or 0, not a percentage. Nobody has seen 70% yet, where it probably triggers.

@@simoncanfer5030 Thanks. I know of one in CA, 93,000 miles over 3 years. Fast charged regularly to 80% (almost daily). Charged to 90-100% almost daily at a level 2 at night. Range difference from new was a loss of 2 miles (123 rather than 125 after an 80% DC fast charge) at current mileage. That's pretty amazing. Yes, some degrading but only 1.6%. That's very good.

Hyundai have really thought about this car ALOT! We've got a 38KWh on order and I can hardly wait! It's priced very keenly and the Regen is great with the paddle adjusting on either side of the steering wheel. Overall - a VERY impressive bit of tech and engineering! Well done Hyundai!

The 28 kWh Ioniq unfortunately doesn't have an app, but it can partially cool the battery using the cabin's air-con via a hole under the rear seat.

So glad I finally took the plunge! Also discovered that our village offers free charging at the village hall (2 chargers) a quarter mile from my home! There are two more free chargers just two more blocks down at the trailhead for a rail trail for bikes and walking. FREE JUICE TO BOOT hopefully for a little while longer!

Same as my blue Ioniq, the only exceptions, the left steering wheel position and the silver interior accents color instead of copper. A great car to drive. I love it. I was surprised by the color spots in the grey plastic in the front, which my car doesn't have and I haven't seen at other Ioniqs so far.

I was late to the game a year ago. I just have the Premium 28kWh, but it's so economical that it's silly. Treat the adaptive cruise control & lane keeping like it's an 8 year old driving and it's OK. A great car for the money.

Well I love my 2021 reg 38Kwh Premium SE except I just cannot get the seat in the right position, I'm either crunched up against the pedals or I can't reach the nav buttons without leaning forwards and also the steering wheel doesn't adjust down low enough. I had a 2017 Hybrid premium and I'm not sure if the infotainment upgrade is a good thing, to me it looks like it's been stuck on. I also find the stereo a bit 'harsh'. Oh and I had to Google how to release the charging cable after a timed charge as it remains locked. You have to turn the timer off, re-lock the doors and unlock them again and then it will let you have the cable back. Those though are the only things I don't like, apart from that I absolutely LOVE it!

i did it the other way round I by passed a leaf and bought an ioniq. did not like NO battery management. that for me this was the largest car i could get for the price I talked to a leaf taxi driver and after our talk he is going to change his car for an Ioniq with ins group 17 for the SE that is less than a leaf. and better miles to a kwh when you see 147 miles range you will get it unless you turn on heating / aircon

Jonathan, you do have Locking Wheel Nuts, in fact you touched one on your final walk around. So glad I took the plunge and bought one. Do you have any idea of the charging history of the car?. My car has 30,000 less miles on the clock (68 plate) and only has a range of 135 miles against your 147+ miles??. Great Video by the way.

We had one each for a while too. Until I could stretch to a Tesla there was nothing to compete with the Ioniq28, for what we needed at least. If only the facelift had kept the fast charging.

@@simoncanfer5030 Totally agree with you Simon, that's the only thing that lets Ioniq down. I charged mine the other day I had 50% -80% it took 40mins If I wanted to get a full charge to a 100% it said it would take 2hrs-15 mins . I think it suffers from COLD GATE like when they brought out the 40kw Leaf.
